Agreed. I haven't been so emotionally charged for a sporting event since my son played football. That's been a couple of years ago. I felt like a sports fan again. Alive. A nice change from the quote "football" fed to us by UA and the Browns. All Cleveland sports, actually.

I would have thought Akron should beat BG easily, they were really off. But that tune-up last might have gotten them back on track. Should be a heck of a game. I wish our secondary could grow a couple of inches this week...

I'm not impressed by the Big Least anymore. I was more impressed when it had Pitt, WVU, Cincy, Syracuse, Louisville. (I'm not just looking at football and I know not all of those schools have/are leaving). Their new footprint only adds a lot of travel to the teams, and prevents a lot of fans from travelling to the games. Would Houston and SMU really help us recruit in Texas? What did UCF do for the MAC? Who's going on a roadie to Boise or SD to see football? Does it really help all the other Zips teams to travel to New England several times a year? I'm not impressed.

It was a very exciting game, the most excited I have been at a Zips football game in years. I also have not been as frustrated at officials since the MAC basketball tourney a couple years ago. My god this conference needs to do something. And the thing that struck me was, we had no business being in that game. Everybody picked us for 6th place and Miami 2nd. We had no rated recruits on probably the worst team in I-A. Joe Dunn said last year we threw the ball 35 times +/- and completed 7 passes and we lost 35-3 to Miami. But there we were, trading shots with them. They knew we were there today.

Those penalties usually came on third down. Give US 60 yards at key times and it's a whole different game.

How many 15 yarders did they call on us? The refs gained more yardage for Miami than the hippy did.

That's fine, but the constant comparisons is condescending. You're talking down on a team (in it's own forum). You can't acknowledge what they have accomplished. You can talk about Ohio without bragging and crapping on Akron. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to go to the Ohio forums and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Bowling Green fell apart. They look hideous. Here's the conference schedule. v. Miami tough team, but nowhere near the caliber of FIU or Tenn. Winnable game. v. BGSU, they look like CRAP the past two weeks. Winnable game. @ Ohio, similar to FIU and Tenn, possibly winnable but unlikely. v. NorthIll, another unlikely win @ CentMich, winnable game @ KentSt, right now, could go either way v. UMass, if they don't win this one... @ Toledo, not happening... 4-4 or 5-3 is not entirely a fantasy. Third place is reachable (Ohio and Miami's cake schedules prevent a top two finish).

Buffalo's hail mary at the half is getting a lot of play on ESPN and local sports reports.

I still think Miami is a solid 2nd. Their record includes two good B10 teams. Bowling Green has been a disappointment and could fall from 3rd into the mediocre soup in the East. If we had Ohio's cupcake schedule, we could go .500.

Who does the scheduling anyhow? Unfortunately that was the MAC only game this week that looks to be close. WM vs UConn and NIU Kansas should be good games, but they're looking for conference matchups. So it was either Dumb and Dumber, or UMess at Miami.

Buffalo is worse than I thought. Fourth place is NOT out of reach...

These teams are very similar, I have Buffalo winning based on home field. Very interesting game, both teams are beatable, I wish we had Buffalo this year. I had Akron finishing 6th this year, but if we keep playing like we did in the conference games, we could jump either (or both) in the standings.
