  1. Thanks Crew8. Sounds like a worthy cause
  2. It still hurts to be getting less respect than schools like Belmont and Harvard...and of course, Ken+. But if it's true that we haven't appeared on this poll in two years, I guess that's some indication that some people feel as if we might be better than we've been the last 2 seasons.Akron plays 4 teams on that list. I am very happy with the 2011 schedule.
  3. The entire game is determined by 18-23 year olds. All players are called upon to make calls based on how they are coached. The decision to use the wacky formation shift is what should be questioned. We agree then, the coaches should decide whether the team goes for a 2pt conversion, not the players. The coaches "made" the decision to go for two by making it a optional read on each extra point play. I was just pointing out that many decisions are left up to 19 year old players. You seem to be saying that 19 year olds are not capable of making reads.

  5. Can he catch? We need more that can.
  6. Bottom line is they lost. Add a mark to icoach's L column.
  7. The same Frisman Jackson who ran Schrock out?Merriweather dropped too many balls and was slow/weak.
  8. I would be stressed too if my job performance stunk like Ianello's. College coaching is a high risk high reward field full of stressors. Some can cut it, some excel, and way more fail. He is compensated handsomely for his time and he lobbied for more money in his assistant pool. More resources dedicated to the program means higher expectations therefore higher stress when things go south. Some coaches can turn to facilities, budgets, and/or lack of general support for their athletics from upper management as excuses when their performance suffers. I will continue to criticize Coach Ianello because ducks have been lined up for success yet the on field performance is awful. The team is worse off today than three years ago...bottom line.
  9. I'll take wins no matter how they come. Smoke and mirrors=good coaching or luck...which one is it?
  10. Lot 34 may be big but boy is it empty and boring. At least you can see people coming in for the game from the snug confines of lot 15. But do get there early.
  11. You could also call the ticekt line and ask about purchasing a one game parking pass in a reserved lot...there will be plenty of space. Lot 15 will at least afford you visibility.
  12. +1.But I'd take anything over simply renovating the JAR. Not from you!!! They renovated the Hartville hardware many times and now are building a 9 acre beautiful facility. The renovations at the old building did not stop the new one from being built. Same here. I think the JAR should be continually upgraded and renovated. It can be used for many things down the road. But build a BASKETBALL facility. It should be GREAT for basketball. Don't make the same mistake they made when they built they JAR. Wait...and do it right. Do not compromise. So why would they have to wait to get it right? Why not get it right now? I think Dr. P is a man of action and thus far his actions have revitalized the campus.
  13. They drive to blossomWould they drive to Akron in February to see a concert? No....A fan would drive the 30-45 min for a concert. Hell people drive hours to see bands. Akron is not a major journey...I wonder if they would play in Akron.

  15. Sconiers was originally a Brookhart recruit. They give credit to Camp but he did sign in early 2010. He was definitely on the radar prior to Icoach. Either way it doesn't matter. Most of the guys playing right now ere JD recruits. We will be able to tell if Icoach is any good starting next year because I am sure he will be back. I do think Sconiers is as good as Suel. The Zips will be looking pretty good at receiver when Suel comes back. Not to add fuel to the fire but when have we had two or three receivers as talented as the group this year. Lefrance and Bowser were injured in previous years and the drop to the number 2 receiver was pretty dramatic. Let's see what Clayton can do with some pretty respectable weapons and support from the best running game we have had in years. Dom Hixon and Jab Arthur. And they won a MAC title with Luke Getsy at the helm. He threw over 400 yards in the MAC Champ game.

  17. I don't think it would ever be considered a waste as we would not know what would have happened without the summer play. I am sure the Zips will lose a few games this year and certain fans will go nuts like they have year in and year out for KD's entire tenure. remember before KD there was no optimism and losses were expected. I am excited either way for the season. The MAC Championship game last year was easily the best time I have ever had at a sporting event. Absolutely awesome. You can't beat a Zips basketball game for excitement and they will always run the full gamut of emotions over the course of a season.
  18. I believe Brian Wagner is our best player. WAY better than Suel or Chisholm. And Brookhart recruited him. RECEIVING GP No. Yards Avg TD Long Avg/G SCONIERS, Keith 6 25 439 17.6 4 51 73.2 RUSSELL, Antoin 6 9 153 17.0 0 45 25.5 PRICE, A.J. 6 8 130 16.2 1 44 21.7 SUEL, Marquelo 3 8 127 15.9 0 33 42.3 Mr. Suel shows signs but 3 games and 8 receptions are not enough to declare him one of the top two players on the team. Same goes for Chisolm though averaging 95 yards/game through 6 is pretty impressive. Wagner is by far our best player. EDIT: Sconiers is no slouch either who recruited him? He signed in early January 2010. Does it matter?
  19. No love from a half-asked CBS MAC preview. They list the Zips 4th behind Ohio, Can't and Buffalo in the East. They also pretend WMU, minus Howard, is the best in the conference. Wow, no kidding. That review is almost baseless. To be quite honest the Zips may struggle out of the gate. I expect that they will be a better than average team early in the year but will be as good if not better than last year's squad by tourney time. It will be interesting to watch the team learn to play together. I can't wait.
  20. Tender feet I'm glad he doesn't have an agent to suggest that he not play and risk further injury to jeopardize his career. So he didnt start because of tender feet but he played the rest of the game? I am glad he was able to play but then why start off the game with three straight runs? Script plays to take advantage of...the #2 running back. Great plan.
  21. Somehow the ZIPS have nearly 800 more offensive yards and 4 TDs more than Can't this year? Wow
  22. After the renewal deadline next summer, they have a couple of days where you can go to the stadium and pick out your seats. They mark the available seats with a piece of paper. This year, many trees were killed to make that happen. Unless the Zips have a big turn around, I'm sure there will be plenty available. Hell it would be easier, cheaper, and more green to mark the 200 or so seats that are not available!
  23. Did he finish the game? Yes Did he fumble after a big hit? No Was he banged up heading into the game?yes Will he play next week? You bet Have the zips had major injury problems at the wr spot (bowser, lefrance, seul?) the past three seasons? Yes You don't pay receivers to run people over Hilton can run around guys and finish plays out of bounds after a gain if he wants to. I would even consider him polished and pro-caliber for doing so.
  24. I saw him make a play at the end of the game as well that involved the football hitting the ground and ending up underneath a FIU defender. Neither QB has done anything to warrant starting. This decision rests solely on Icoach and he will take the fall when/if both fail. Why not give time to both because I believe neither has all of the skills needed to get the job done. Hell you might just confuse the defense a little and keep them guessing. You mean the play where our own RB ran into him, which caused the fumble? You may want to read my post again. It's not a raving endoresement for Moore's greatness. But it does show marked improvement. And after what we've seen at that position for the past 2 seasons, that should be encouraging news to any Zips fan. Big play. You may want to read my post again because it wasn't a raving condemnation of Moore either. I don't see a huge improvement in QB play rather in the running game. We will revisit this at the end of the year but I do believe both QBs should see time. Moore’s play has not been stellar and neither has Nicely’s . Play both and go into next year with the battle running hot. I am not a Nicely or Moore suporter. I think they can exist together and have success.
  25. Five yards past where his teammated missed them. Not his fault. He is a good player and has a nose for the ball. Imagine our secondary trying to make the tackles he does. Not pretty.
