How does he miss so often. A Can't lovefest yet again. Link CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Four things I think from the Mid-American Conference tournament: 1. Attendance remained solid at The Q, perhaps because of the one-and-done finality of all the games. But after more than a decade, perhaps it is time for the MAC and the city to get together and figure out a way to bump the event up. With the casino traffic coming, that would seem to be a no-brainer. Adding some entertainment to draw students from schools other than Can't State or Akron might help. The event can't continue to bank on both of these programs anchoring the attendance. Like what??? Strippers? 2. It is well past time for the rest of the conference to join Can't State in building teams and programs worthy of postseason play beyond the MAC. Had the Golden flushes won it all, no other team would have a postseason ticket. Akron, even with its 23-12 slate and MAC tourney crown, entered outside of the RPI Top 100. Can't (23-11) has been a Top 100 RPI team 12 of the last 13 years, including this year. How does Akron beating Can't impact UB,MU, WMU? Buff has punched their ticket and Akron would have 3. Look for a shift in power to begin next season from the East to the West. Semifinal losers Ball State and Western Michigan combine to return nine of 10 starters. Akron will lose four seniors and its top nine players, and possibly a fifth if junior Nik Cvetinovic opts to graduate and return to his native Serbia. No idea what he is talking about here...top nine players? 4. Can't State returns four of its five starters, but could use another big body on the baseline to help 6-8 Justin Greene and 6-11 Justin Manns. Regardless, Can't should still be one of the MAC East favorites. They lose their leader Rod Sherman and are coming off a two loss season to lowly Akron...Keep up the good work EA

CK, I agree with you about "Joe Akron". However, the dismal turnout of season ticket holders was ridiculous. Section L was only about 10% full until they announced that the fans in the bleachers could move into the lower seats. At $10/seat it's SAD that our supposed fan base couldn't be bothered to come to a game played at the same time as any regular season weeknight game. The players deserve better than that, even if they are playing inconsistently. I never paid attention, but the Tommy Evans Lounge must have been closed. Were season tickets valid for the MAC Tourney game? They couldn't inflate the attendance number with tickets sold.

Quincey, Alex, and Zeke will be the core of the new ZIPS for years to come and are each very different players than have traditionally played at Akron. It will also be nice to have Brett back to add stability and a leadership presence. I think Zips basketball is going in the right direction under KD. He is an Akron guy and would probably resist all but the strongest offers to move on. KD is stability and he is the future. Constant improvement is th name of the game here. Keep getting better and keep being the KD players and Akronites respect.

Ken Stewart's or Moe's for dinner if you can tell me what I was wearing Cosby sweater.
-
We could play local high school teams during the half at Temple games.
-
KD needs to find somebody who can score.
-
The ZIPS are great at fighting back from 20 down to keep the loss under double digits. They don't appear to be playing hard until about 4 min left in the game. EDIT...Nevermind they are going to lose bymore than ten this time

Looks like they have an empty seat problem as well.

That landscaping exists because they ran into sandstone while digging in the northwest corner. It would be difficult to cut through the bedrock to put something else there. Pouring concrete over it would result in a situation like the Rubber Bowl where water gets in there and eats away at the base. I think platforms could be put up over top of them to provide more room to stand. Why build more platforms so that security can have more areas to yell at the few paying fans at the game to get behind the line. The security is a little too rough on where people can stand.

STO'S HD coverage is great and they provide some really professional production elements. I think they also do a great job promoting the games to local fans. All of their shows mention upcoming games and are enthusiastic about the teams involved. It was only a matter of time until STO picked up the MAC. The Indians schedule (no playoffs) and the college sports calendar match up perfectly to give STO some live action year round. High school and lower division college athletics are not big enough draws to cover costs. STO should be the network of the MAC for years to come.

Nice work TW and Luis. Thanks for the update. -
I would assume there would be a copyright applied to the video that prohibits the reproduction and sale of the video. Either way, I plan on ripping the DVD to a digital format so I can play it anywhere How about giving them away?
-
Can we reproduce the DVD and add the production value ourselves for the $150?

That was a good game to watch. Contests Miami on showing up and playing some great football.

From the article on Kitchen... "As a top professional prospect, Kitchen attributes his high standing in large part to the University of Akron head coach Caleb Porter whose teams are playing a more attractive and more skillful style of soccer than most observers feel has ever been played in NCAA soccer. "Playing for Akron, we want the fans to be able to enjoy the game," Kitchen said. "We want it to be attractive. It's not always like that, don't get me wrong. But that's what we want to accomplish. Caleb has done an unbelievable job in that. He's one of the greatest coaches I've ever had." "He's very intense," he continued. "We never take a light day in practice. If you watch Akron play and then watch the average soccer game, we are on the ball and we have fun. I don't think there is another coach that has brought in the style that Caleb has." Kitchen will now hope join a growing list of players that has come out of Akron only to immediately fit into professional and international soccer. The list includes Sporting Kansas City's Teal Bunbury who is now part of the US national team and Seattle Sounder Steve Zakuani who is on the national team for the Democratic Republic of Congo. This year Kitchen is not alone as four other players will also leave Akron early to turn professional and all are expected to be drafted within the top ten picks. When Kitchen and his teammates announced their intention to leave, they found encouragement from Porter who met with each of the players. "Look, he is in it for the players. He's not in it for himself," Kitchen stated frankly. "He's encouraged five underclassmen to go pro. He wants us to do what is best for us. He'll look at our options at the end of the season like he did for me and all the other guys. He told me this was a really good opportunity for my future. He said I did some great things for the school but that it was time to move on. "He's never going to hold any player back if they are ready," he added. "But if they're not ready, he'll say that they may need to come back another year. He wants what's best for the players and that's really important."" Nice work Caleb!

Perhaps the Athletic Dept. could invest in one of those hand-held credit card machines like all the airlines have to charge you for their boxed lunches. That is an easy solution because of the campus's WiFi network. They could take credit card for all events and concessions with little investment. Not our concern.
