Shocker. Coming off an 11-loss season, I have to believe that any good thing shown by a player or unit is mostly caused by the failures of the unit opposite them. And within these quotes we find great reason for playing a team other than itself in the spring! Wouldn't matter at all becuase both teams would be playing their entire 3-deep to get playing time. Measure results in the fall when the games count.

I think it was a terrible showing. Our defense will be lucky to hold any opponent under 40. I think they wil be better when the chains come off and they can hit at game speed. The o was playing at full speed but the d was forced to play in scrimmage mode.

To be fair the other 114 QBs were on teams that either won more games or didn't lose to an FCS team. The scheme was also off last year and the two receiver set combined with the quality of receiver meant nobody was open. It is a frustrating situation but only time will tell at this position. I am happy to have both guys competing for starts and ready to go in case of an injury. Welcome back Patrick and welcome Clayton. Now PROVE IT.

You are right on. I bet the tourney record will parallel the dismal numbers put up by the west in regular season play. The west can't beat eastern teams at home regularly so why would they win at a "neutral site"

Ummmmmmm...I don't think the MAC West has anywhere to go but up. It's been about as low as you can go. Hopefully the bottom-feeders will jump up, into the top200. Can we hope that much? Call me when the bottom 4 west teams are all under 300 rpi. Bsu and wmu might be on the way up but 4 of 6 have no hope. Bsu tanked against the east and western split.

Did you happen to see #15 Suel the juco wr who red shirted last year out there? He is listed as 6'3". Yep, they are listed 6'0"-6'3" but few were noticeably taller than me at 5'11". Dillard? was clearly the tallest but thin, slow, and couldn't catch. He also slammed his helmet down a few times.

He's more than just a player to watch. What are the chances that we got him to come here with only the "possiblity" that he would be the starter? My guess is, pretty close to ZERO. Nicely and Moore both looked good. Botha have a good arm but Moore is noticeably shorter than nicely (I know there are Pro Bowl quarterbacks that are undersized). He also did not look as agile in drills. I think we will need both to get through this year because our o-line is going to get one or both killed. At least both can hit a receiver on the far side of the field unlike previous ZIP QBs. This is a nice "problem" to have. GO ZIPS

Jawon Chisholm was fast and made some nice cuts. I also agree that Clayton is about 5'11". Honestly I have seen better size at skill positions on local high school teams.

Gary played in all 12 games and caught 22 passes. Too bad he won't be around to try and improve on those numbers. Hope there are a couple of surprises in the receiving corps ready to step up. Why should be be watching Blayther? Any good news for the secondary is great news. I was at practice today and it was clear that the receivers are going to be an issue this year. Only two look to be over six feet and they dropped a ton of balls.

The Zips have a serious problem at receiver. There were many dropped balls today and only two appear to be over six feet. Seriously, most of the corps looks like the defensive backfield did last year.

BSU and WMU were a combined 6-10 against the east including the tourney. I guess that is an improvement of sorts? That includes 1-7 against Can't, Akron, and Miami.

Prove it Anyone who watched the Can't/BSU or Akron/WMU game has all the proof they need. One or two games. Ball state tanked vs the east and wmu was boosted into their situation by playing 4 300 plus rpi teams twice.

So Akron trailed Can't by 1 in the loss column at the end of the year and beat them 2 times. Can't's RPI is higher based on who they lost to and not because of any marquee wins. Also, call me when WMU and Ball State start winning consistently against the East. Who cares how many starters are coming back since they are not good. Great work again from the master or thoughtless and lazy sports journalism.
