  1. I got on here today to see more camp updates, but then stumbled upon GT posts. I'm not going to lie. At first, I thought "GT covering Akron sports. Great ." But as the stories and coverage that GT started doing from the beginning, I can't be more pleased than I am right now. Thank you GT for all the in-depth Zips' news. Any news on how Pratt has looked? Is Ericksen getting any reps?
  2. I've seen Canton Central Catholic play last season, and went to their scrimmage today since they were scrimmaging my high school alma mater. This kid is incredible for being a sophomore last season. Hopefully Coach Bowden and Coach Amato know about this kid. If so, I'm sure they're fighting over which side of the ball for him to play...he's #21 in the video highlights Here's the highlights page
  3. There's Tree with that annoying hat again. Apparently he wears that hat anywhere he goes...
  4. Since our conference tournament is at the Q, would we even be allowed to host a regular season game there? I thought I heard something about that somewhere. It might of been about no NCAA tournament game at the Q involving a MAC school, but not sure which one it is. I just know there's something to that extent.
  5. what's the time of the practice(scrimmage?) for Saturday(tomorrow)?
  6. There's rumors flying around that Yedlin might be on his way to Portland. Timbers have the top allocation slot and Seattle wants Dempsey. Rumor is if Portland gets any compensation, they want Yedlin(according to a bunch of tweets) Link to the rumor EDIT: Looks like MLS and Seattle are trying every way possible to find an end-around to keep Portland from benefiting in this...
  7. I saw on facebook that Blake Justice mentioned how at Valdosta State, #14 is retired. Was asking what number he should take. So that means we can take Blake Justice off the chart. He's going to Valdosta State.
  8. so far, I'm 1 for 1...One thing I've noticed the past few years, is that the preview rankings always put K.e.n.t ahead of us, but we finish ahead of them. I think you'll see Toledo for sure as one of the other two. Not sure about the third one, but thinking about these idiots, I think Ohio will be the third...
  9. Sorry that I want to post news about Akron Zips basketball. If it was Dambrot, Embick, or Bowden, there would be a bunch of posts about it. That's all I'm going to say...
  10. Hopefully we can keep her at Akron for this long. I don't think she'll be at Akron for the whole contract...
  11. Even when Zeke ISN'T playing, he's playing for an NBA job. GM's will analyze everything. I heard one say in an interview one time, that they look at players' body language while on the bench after a positive and/or negative play for the team that they're currently on. This will kind of give them a look into their personality a little bit. And when GM's put together a team, they want to put a team together that can play together(example: Golden State).May be over analyzing, but if you can tell Zeke this, tell him while being on the bench. Try to be as vocal as he can. That might intrigue a GM right there.
  12. Yep, Trapp was the "Man of the Match". MLS debut, and looked what happened. Columbus has no excuse to start him from this point on. Hopefully Vancouver's manager can wake up too and start Darren. Back to the match though. Standing with the Timber's Army was amazing. Some of their chants, we're brilliant. It was fun for my first MLS game. Can't wait to go back, especially if Columbus keeps deciding on starting Trapp more...
  13. I got my ticket last night. I was too impatient ..GO TIMBERS! I'll be in section 114!!!
  14. I didn't know until today if I would be able to go to the match on sunday. I am heading down with a few other rowdies and we're meeting up with ZIP_ME87 in Columbus. Hopefully the match won't be sold out and I can still get a ticket when I get there...Hope to see a few of you down there! I'll be there with my national championship t-shirt on along with my scarf!
  15. I'll say Ohio, Toledo, and K.e.n.t ...For some reason, all these rankings, they like Can't better than us. But that's okay, we usually finish better than them
  16. Hopefully, even if it's only for next season, the attendance will increase. IMHO, the favorites next season are Central Michigan, Ball State, Akron, and Toledo (Bowling Green and Buffalo not too far off). Next year may be the best season for the MAC women's overall as a conference in a LONG time. Good chance at a two-bid league. Only reason I say that, is because of Ball State. They're the wild card in this. Coach Sallee does not shy away from playing big time teams, and with everyone returning plus a top 40 recruiting class nationally, They could have a very good RPI and record going into conference play. We match up better with them than CMU, and Ball State matches up better with CMU than us. If we could win the MAC regular season, most likely it will be Ball State and CMU 2 and 3, with either Toledo or Bowling Green most likely at 4. I like our chances there, especially with the good chance of Ball State in the MAC title game. I also think with our up-tempo play, the new rule of a 10 second half court violation for the women's game being implemented(finally!), could help us cause more turnovers... Of course, this is like 8 months premature, but just undoing the cobwebs right now in my empty head. Stumbled upon this video, and figured to share it.
  17. Wouldn't it be something if Zeke ends up in Portland? You can then call Portland, "Akron's big brother" basically, with all those former Akron soccer players and coach, along with Zeke too? Hello, Portland
  18. With an 85 or better rated true freshman coming to Akron in consecutive seasons, and then getting an NC State transfer who was a Top 100 player in the 2010 class(91 rating) to Akron, the Lady Zips program is taking the next step. They have a great senior group, good sophomore group that may be able to contribute more this season, and then a freshman class that is really good as well. One of the most underrated players in the state of Ohio, true freshman Hannah Plybon, is going to be a good edition to this program. I wouldn't even be surprised if Plybon is the first or second one off the bench by MAC play.
  19. Didn't see this posted yet, so decided it should be. Dunnigan transfers to Akron That means the incoming class looks like this: NC State Transfer Therany Dunnigan - 6'2 forward- Will have two years of eligibility left after ineligible 2013-2014 season Keanna Gary- 6'1 true freshman forward from Leo Junior Senior High School (IN) Alex Ricketts- 5'11 true freshman guard from Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School (PA) Hannah Scipio- 5'4 true freshman point guard from New Albany High School (OH) Hannah Plybon- 5'9 true freshman guard from Orrville High School(OH). Rated as an "86" prospect by ESPN... Roster looks like this for next season: Seniors Kacie Cassell Cari Guyton?(Didn't play much at all, so not sure if she could of been redshirted or not, being a JUCO player) Sina King Hanna Luburgh Rachel Tecca Carly Young Sophomores Megan Barilla Anita Brown DiAndra Gibson Katie Nunan Jasmine Wood Freshmen Hannah Plybon Alex Ricketts Hannah Scipio Keanna Gary
  20. Didn't see this brought up at all, and just found this on Medina County Gazette's website. Thought it was important to share. Not sure what impact this would have to the depth of our cornerbacks... Arrested Monday for accused aggravated robbery of a store in Brunswick
  21. which one? going for two in regulation, or overtime?
  22. Q is really good in transition like skip-zip said. Hopefully this refreshes everyone's memory a bit about the potential impact of Q next season:
  23. And a lot of people on Yappi.com are saying that Hannah Plybon, DIII co-player of the year, could potentially be the best player in the state of Ohio as in production at next level (That includes a Purdue recruit and another Maryland recruit). They claim that Ohio State really missed out on her, too. Plybon discussion Article on Plybon's high school career at Orrville
  24. Found the tweet about the spring game: Tiffin defeats Ohio State in Columbus, 1-0
