  2. I thought that CMU had to lose in order for us to get the #2 seed. Akron is 8-0 against the teams in their half of the bracket. Very lucky to have no BGSU, CMU, or Toledo on our half of the bracket. The fact we return 4 of our starters, and practically our entire bench next year, we're one year ahead of schedule. Ruper and Bubna are only ones that will not be back next year, and the incoming freshmen class will make practices almost tougher than majority of the MAC games next season. Our bench could win 7-9 games on their own in the MAC next season. Wonder where I heard that before...
  3. Coach Kest said #2 seed
  4. First time since 03-04 that Bowling Green doesn't have at least a share of the MAC East title. Coach Kest has done an amazing job with this program. Lady Zips will have either the #2 or #3 seed in the MAC tournament. If it's #2 seed, they will be playing on MAC semifinal friday. Should head out earlier to see the Lady Zips and make it an Akron basketball full day in Cleveland!!!! And with any luck, we'll have both teams playing for a MAC title on saturday!!!!!!!! Friday would be a 2:30pm tip-off for #2 seed, if Lady Zips get the bye to semifinals. *Only reason for not knowing if it's a #2 or #3 seed for Lady Zips seed, is confusing tie breaker rules*
  5. and put them on the same side as Ball State and Miami, which is better than being on same side as Toledo, Central Michigan, and Bowling Green.
  6. 7:17 remaining in the 2nd half Akron 67 Buffalo 48 Someone told me for a 3 way tiebreaker, it's record vs. division. Not sure how that would help with 2 MAC West and a MAC East school, but apparently Akron comes out on top in this tiebreaker...
  7. you're right...I had a Can't moment...Anyways, Akron taking care of business in Buffalo. Toledo taking care of Ball State. All comes down to if Eastern Michigan can pull out a win against Central Michigan... 11:57 remaining in 2nd half Akron 57 Buffalo 34 Lady Zips 12 minutes away from first ever (outright) MAC East title in program history!!!! Last time a MAC East title was won outright by someone other than Bowling Green, was 2003-2004...
  8. that's what I thought, but everyone else i hear from says differently. Even CMU's WBB twitter account said that if Ball State doesn't beat Toledo, and both Akron and CMU win, CMU gets #4 seed and Akron gets #3 seed. Just don't see how since CMU wins the head-head matchup... 15:31 left in 2nd half Akron 52 Buffalo 27
  9. Akron and Buffalo announcer said all that needs to happen for a two seed is an Akron win and a Ball State loss...MAC needs to make it easier for us fans to figure out these tiebreakers...thought i understood it, but so confused right now...
  10. Halftime scores Akron 45 Buffalo 24 Toledo 35 Ball State 14 Central Michigan 30 Eastern Michigan 28 Northern Illinois 25 Western Michigan 25 Miami(OH) 33 Ohio 32 Bowling Green 16 Can't State 14
  11. 2:54 remaining in 1st half Akron 38 Buffalo 24 Luburgh has half of Akron's points right now with 19 points...7/8 FG, 3/4 3PFG, 2/2 FT, and 2 rebounds
  12. 7:06 remaining in 1st half Akron 31 Buffalo 16 Hanna Luburgh has 16 points in the first half already.Player of the Year candidate, Rachel Tecca, only has 2 points. This team really wants that outright MAC East title and that #2 seed...
  13. 11:29 remaining in 1st half Akron 21 Buffalo 6
  14. thanks! Just trying to figure out what teams to root for tonight!!!!
  15. Akron Lady Zips play at Buffalo tonight. With a win, a Central Michigan loss(just to make sure) and a Ball State loss, would give Akron the #2 seed. Toledo hosts Ball State on senior night, so that will be tough for Ball State to win. Expecting the Ball State loss. Central Michigan plays at Eastern Michigan, and will be tough game to win. Expecting a C. Michigan win. Akron at Buffalo will be tough, but Lady Zips should come out of this with a win. Not sure how it works, but I thought if CMU, Akron, and Toledo win tonight, Akron would get the #3 seed. However, someone told me If Toledo and Akron wins, and CMU wins, Akron gets #2 seed. If headaviatorrowdie or anyone else could clarify this for me on the tiebreakers, it would be appreciated. MAC stream for Akron-Buffalo WBB game tonight

  17. Actually, if we lose to Buffalo, CMU loses to EMU, and Bowling Green defeats Can't State, it would be a 3 way tie for seeds 3-5. Bowling Green would have a 2-1 record against CMU/Akron, CMU 1-1 against BGSU/CMU, and Akron 1-2 against CMU/BGSU. So Akron would be 5th seed with that. At least that's how I thought the seeding would work...
  18. If tournament began today: #1 Toledo 14-1 #2 Ball State 12-3 #3 Central Michigan 11-4 #4 Akron 11-4 #5 Bowling Green 10-5 #6 Miami(OH) 9-6 #7 Buffalo 8-7 #8 Eastern Michigan 6-9 #9 Western Michigan 5-10 #10 Northern Illinois 2-13 #11 Can't State 1-14 #12 Ohio 1-14 Akron can get as low as the 5 seed, and as high as a 2 seed still. Here's the last slate of regular season games: Northern Illinois at Western Michigan Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan Ball State at Toledo Akron at Buffalo Bowling Green at Can't State Miami(OH) at Ohio Scenarios with a win at Buffalo wednesday: 2nd seed secnario: EMU defeats CMU, Toledo defeats Ball State 3rd seed scenario: Toledo defeats Ball State, CMU defeats EMU
  19. Akron clinched at least a share of the MAC East title with a 71-65 win over Miami(OH) today. With 3:30 to go in the game, the Lady Zips were down 63-58, and finished the game on a 13-2 run. They can clinch the outright MAC East title with a win...AT BUFFALO...Good luck Lady Zips!!!! With a win at Buffalo wednesday, will give the Zips a bye to the quarterfinals as well(potentially a chance at a bye to the semifinals still). I will post the seeding scenario later tonight on this topic.

  21. Does anyone know when the team will be back on campus? I think it would help keep the team morale up if people showed their support at the JAR that they're still with this team until the very end, and not jump off as soon as there's a bump in the road...this is our first loss in the year 2013...THINK ABOUT THAT...we've had the privilege to watch some great Akron basketball the past two months...I feel this is the least we can do for the team that has given us great memories so far, by showing up and telling them to keep their heads up...
  22. We all said that all this team needs to do is just get to the Big Dance. Tonight, even though most of us are seeing this loss a bad thing, it might be a silver lining involved. The pressure is now off. Eventually it wears on you. And tonight it did. It's hard to bring your "A" game day in, and day out, when all the other teams need to do is have their "A" game on one day. When you have the longest winning streak in the nation, nationally-ranked, and the best team in your conference, don't you expect to eventually trip up once with the constant bullseye on your back? It happens to everyone, and after all, these players are HUMAN. Just ask Michigan and Kansas about their losses to Penn State and TCU, respectively. Gamechanger44, I don't think most of us on here are necessarily mad at the team or blaming the team. Zips didn't play well tonight, and Buffalo did. It happens. I can't vouch for anyone else on here, but I'm sure I'm not alone in what I'm about to say. I'm just a little upset that we just got ranked, had an emotional win over Ohio, and then in a flash of one bad game, it's gone. Most of us feel angry at not the team, but the NATIONAL MEDIA. We should of been weeks ago, and now we may not see it again, ... ... ... ... ... until we make the Final Four If people met the team at the JAR after the OU win, it would show this team a lot more if people were there when they got back from this lost to show gratitude for the journey of the streak, and time to rally them up for the rest of season.
  23. Friday matchups(3/8) Buffalo @ BGSU Can't State @ Akron saturday's matchups(3/9) Toledo @ EMU CMU @ WMU NIU @ Ball St Miami(OH) @ Ohio
  24. Usually this thread is already on ZN.o already, but with the motto #ThinkBigger, we certainly are doing that. Just thought it would be interesting to see what it would look like right now, and see who to root for in the last 3 conference games. Here's what it would look like right now #1 Akron 14-1 #2 Ohio 13-2 #3 Western Michigan 9-6 Toledo 9-6 (ineligible) #4 Can't State 8-7 #5 Eastern Michigan 7-8 (2-1) #6 Buffalo 7-8 (1-1) #7 Ball State 7-8 (1-2) #8 Bowling Green 6-9 #9 Central Michigan 4-11 #10 Northern Illinois 3-12 (1-0) #11 Miami(OH) 3-12 (0-1) This would mean our half of the bracket would look like this: #8 Bowling Green vs #9 Central Michigan 8/9 winner vs #5 Eastern Michigan 8/9/5 winner vs #4 Can't State 8/9/5/4 winner vs #1 Akron Ohio's bracket would look like this: #6 Buffalo vs #11 Miami(OH) #7 Ball State vs #10 Northern Illinois 6/11 winner vs 7/10 winner 6/11/7/10 winner vs #3 Western Michigan 6/11/7/10/3 winner vs #2 Ohio
  25. On twitter, he said "one in three chance". So I'm not sure. And the fact that we're an 11 seed, and not one of the last four in(probably because he has us as the automatic bid), does that mean we're a little more solidified as a potential at-large?
