Worst thing that could happen there, happened...come on defense!!!!!
-
Last time I checked, "Akron" and "Tennessee" was trending on Twitter

OKAY EVERYONE, LET'S GO!!!!!!! TIME TO BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GO ZIPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
Come on defense, don't give up a touchdown now...

GREAT 4TH DOWN STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GO OFFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HINES FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hold them to a field goal on this drive, and we'll definitely be in good shape going into halftime...

Let's go!!!!!!! Was at my high school alma mater's JV football game this morning, wearing Akron gear, and a lot of them were asking me about how I feel tonight would go. And these aren't even Akron fans. Majority of them are Ohio State/Mount Union fans...And they were talking to me with optimism... Bowden is changing the culture faster than I thought...A lot of people are tuning in to find out how the Zips do, and they're loving the offensive numbers...Those same Ohio State/Mount Union fans told me they will be watching tonight...Amazes me how different one season can be from the next...

Does anyone know if Johnny J's on Waterloo Road near 91 is also streaming the game or not? Because I rather drive an hour instead of an hour and a half one way if I can help it...

It does scare me too. I have no idea how good this Carrollton team really is, even with their good linemen. They've played no one close to the talent level they'll see this friday. Right now we may not know, but by week 10, we may know by then how good these linemen really are with the great defenses in the league of Marlington and Louisville....

Just to add on to Keener's points of Carrollton this year, they've scored 50, 55, 14, and 42 so far this season for a 4-0 mark. The only downside to this amount of points, is they're doing it basically on the ground. Not a passing first team, but I think their center is good enough that he will be find in Bowden's offense. Their rushing yards in a game have been this in order: 270, 454, 187, 320 Their passing yards in a game have been this in order: 158, 71, 16, 128 Guess we won't know for sure til he gets here, but he certainly fits the mold for what we need on the line...

This is one area that I can talk forever on and give you scouting reports on almost every player in this particular high school football conference. My alma mater actually plays at Carrollton this friday night, and I'm going to see it. The conference is known for linemen. Just for a run through, here's the schools in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference: Alliance, Canton South, Carrollton, Louisville, Alliance Marlington, Minerva, Salem, and West Branch. A lot of these schools normally have big offensive lines, and this year is no exception. If I had a way to get a hold of Coach Bowden or Coach Arrington, I would tell them this conference is a pipeline for offensive linemen. Last year, Marlington had an Offensive lineman by the name of Zach Higgins, who is now a freshman at Michigan State. Alden Hill, a running back at Marlington, is a freshman at Tennessee. And for the trifecta, Marlington has a senior running back named Dymonte Thomas who is going to Michigan. West Branch, 2 years ago had a lineman named Brandon Ferguson, who had several MAC offers, and decided to go to Youngstown State instead. A lot of "meat and potatoes" in this conference, and some great skill talent as well. I'm excited to see my alma mater this friday with our 295 pound average on the line against a very good Carrollton offense.... Once again, I rambled on too much because I just love watching this high school football conference. During Ianello era, I would save my money to go to as many of these conference games as possible, since they were much more entertaining. It's changed, but I still love me some high school football

Amazing the different variety of topics that come up on these message boards. Here's one on Tennessee's board: "Women of Akron" (This is one area it seems they feel we beat them in )

Last time i checked, the width of the goal posts are smaller in college than they are in high school...that would be my guess on why the range gets smaller as these players get to next level...

But if you never got the chance to drive a ferrari, and you got the chance, wouldn't you be okay with it for now? I know i am...at least until i get another chance to drive a ferrari(there's my analogy)

A lot of people want to see Akron men's soccer program over their high school football game. But if choice is high school football or women's soccer, then there's not much competition there. It's sad, because just once, I want to see what the women's soccer team would do with a crowd like a men's soccer match. I feel they would thrive in it...

You sure there isn't another reason you don't want to use "Wrong Way Parker", CincyZip?

If you read through those tweets, Coach Croft mentions that they want to set the MAC attendance record for women's soccer against Northern Illinois on Friday, September 28th at 7:30pm. The MAC attendance record for women's soccer is 2,539. Coach Croft wants to have 2,600 for the night! I'm always upset with the MAC on how they have women's soccer on the two days that people are preoccupied with the other football. Fridays for high school football, and sundays for professional football. That's why I always feel women's soccer never gets close to the crowds the men's soccer team gets(putting the nation's best program off to the side for now)...

Here's interim head coach(hopefully the official head coach by end of season) Vernon Croft's twitter account for Akron Lady Zips soccer... https://twitter.com/ZipsCoachCroft

Before Caleb leaves after the season, I hope I get to shake his hand and say thank you for all he's done for this university and community. As I was listening to "Big Head, Red Head" with Taylor Twellman and Alexi Lalas, they mentioned that he would be given two-three years to turn it around in Portland. If not, he's gone. And then, he will always have college soccer to go back to. In that case, if that would happen theoretically, would we move on from him, or would we take him back?
-
Not sure, but to be honest, I would like for Croft after this season to just get named the head coach instead of one year as interim...they couldn't really do a search for a new coach when Pfau left, and to be honest, Croft has done a great job of at least changing a little of what the women's soccer team hasn't had the past few years...

Akron loses a hard one, 4-0 to William & Mary...
-
Akron women's soccer team pulled out a great victory over a VCU team that people have competing to win the A-10 this year...Tough test against William & Mary on sunday, the top favorite to win the CAA...

The conference that Carrollton is in, the Northeastern Buckeye Conference, has some great offensive linemen...I came name 3-4 offensive linemen at West Branch that will be playing college football at the next level at a DII school at the very least. There's a kid at West Branch who will be a sophomore offensive lineman that's 6'4, 290 right now...
