I guess we need a list of prospective alumni recruits and we need to start making appointments to come into these people's homes to sell them on Zips fandom. What kind of a budget do you think UA will give us to get this ball rolling?

I understand that money has an impact but if Indiana was somehow bequeathed an enormous sum of money and could suddenly increase their football budget to double Ohio State's, in 10 years they would still be getting beat by the Buckeyes. The best example of money creating a winner is Oregon, but I think it would be hard to catch that lightning in a bottle again. Nike has been a visionary benefactor for the Ducks with a winning strategy. T. Boone's millions haven't meant as much to Oklahoma State. Could more money help the have nots? Sure. Is it the panacea for a level playing field? No. Is wealth distribution ever going to happen across all of FBS? No.

If interest in this type of thing is widespread amongst Zips fans, there is opportunity to get to know and become friends with the families of football players during tailgating. As just one example, we all had a great time with Nico Caponi's family during his time as a Zip. Bad part is that you miss 'em when their time is over. The Switzers and the Rossis will certainly be missed next year. Good people.

While I agree with you in theory, the fact is despite the "parity control measures", good professional organizations win and bad ones lose. I suspect the same thing would be true in college athletics. Dear Abby, Still trying to get over the trauma of my New Year's Day experience. The holidays should be a time of joy spent with family and friends but I am feeling left out. These plans to renovate the JAR only make sense if they are meant to satisfy a CUSA committee in order to gain entrance. If this renovation is not a part of switching leagues, it should be 86'd.
