  1. I think I can count 6 of them in this pic.
  2. Let me play the devil's advocate here. The Zips just went 3-5 in the easiest MAC schedule they will ever see. Are we to believe that none of the freshmen could have contributed for a couple of more wins this year? Redshirting an entire class is a fantastic sign for a team that went 9-3. I'm not sure it means the same thing for a team that went 5-7.
  3. I would think that if Woodson is good enough to be the qb in 2015 he probably should have been good enough to be the qb in 2014. Likewise, if Kincade is good enough next fall to unseat a fifth year senior who has 2 years of starting experience as a redshirt freshman, he probably should have been starting this year. Nothing magical is going to happen during this offseason to make these guys better than Pohl. Chapman is the wild card.
  4. I haven't seen any apparel from them other than football jerseys but they do a nice job on those.
  5. Astute analysis by the gentleman from Canal Fulton.
  6. Are you a one-issue voter?
  7. Yes. I heard YSU is taking Akron's spot in the MAC when we join the ACC. (It's been a while since I trotted that one out.)
  8. Balsy, You will have to wait for that Arkansas/Toledo matchup but here's a preview of how it would turn out:
  9. Never thought I would say this but if we could move to CUSA with Toledo & Ohio, I'm all for it.
  10. Nah. YSU will join and save the day
  11. Although they would be a geographical outlier, I think the Big XII would be smart to bring in UCF instead of Memphis.
  12. I can verify AF&C does a great job. You can also get the Akron logo embroidered on any piece of clothing you bring in right on campus. The service used to be on the bottom floor of the honors dorm next to Bulger Hall but I think they have moved to Quaker Square. I think it is called Custom Imprint Service but I'm not positive.
  13. It was a happy day, that's for sure.
  14. Thanks for starting this thread, Lee. Although the end of the season left a nasty bitter taste in the mouths of Zips fans it is shameful that none of us congratulated these 4 players for their post-season accolades. Speaking to your Hundley comment, has anyone heard anything about the injury he sustained at Can't? He was unable to put any weight on his injured leg as he was helped off the field. Didn't look good.
  15. First game I have attended this season. Robotham is as advertised. Sorry I accused some of you of getting your cart ahead of your horse.
  16. I have been an advocate for staying in the MAC, but I have a question. . .Does CUSA have a contract with the worldwide leader for these asinine Tuesday night games? If not, I'm all for the move!
  17. Question: If the continuation of the Akron football program was put up for a vote by current UA students do you think the answer would be yay or nay?
  18. So, prospective tailgater, you want to get in on the action? How do you obtain a pass for a "tailgating lot"? Clear as mud, right? According to the chart: $500 donation should lock you in for Lot 8. $1000 donation should lock you in for Lot 10 or Lot 8. If you donate between $2500 & $14999 you are all in the same boat. You could be in Lot 9 or maybe in Lot 10. Don't even think about Lot 6 unless you give $15000. Of course, they could put you in Lot 9 or 10 as well. (See that little *) When we re-upped season tickets last year a Lot 9 pass was part of the deal for Priority Reserved Seating. My question at that time was "what if a miracle happened and they sold out the entire P.R. section?" There aren't that many Lot 9 spaces. Not to mention one hell of a perk. $500 worth of seats gets you a $2500 parking pass! I don't know what people are donating to the Z-Fund. That is a private matter, but I have a sneaking suspicion a majority of the people in Lot 9 are below the $2500 threshold. I know for a fact that the Marshall fans and the Pabst Blue Ribbon RV gave less than that amount. Every year, people have been told they have Lot 9 passes when they purchased their season tickets and when they receive their package they have passes for another lot, so you have to call UA and try to get it worked out. There were some folks that had this happen to them this year who were told Lot 9 was sold out when they called to complain, which I am fairly certain was not true. Bottom line is that nobody knows if they are going to get the lot they want until they receive their package a week before the first game and then be prepared to fight for what you want. This kind of set up doesn't exactly encourage tailgating. It's a crapshoot. The way it is set up now, anyone can be displaced by a person who wants to donate more money. The deep pocket folks haven't exactly been lining up at the ticket office, but if they did your tailgate plans could be altered at the 11th hour and your tailgating friends could be scattered. UA needs to have a plan for tailgating. UA needs to utilize their plan to actively promote and encourage a vibrant tailgating community and culture. Unfortunately, there is no plan and the small number of tailgaters are in several lots presently. If someone appointed me Tailgating Czar, that would be my first order of business. Where do you want your tailgaters? I would think that the most logical lot that the U would want fill with tailgaters would not be Lot 9 but Lot 10. If we are going to continue the Roo Walk, Lot 10 needs to be full to greet the team. It is totally unrealistic to think that people spread all over campus are going leave their spots to hoof it over for the Roo Walk. The next reason Lot 10 should be the tailgating lot is because it is a nicer paved lot. It also has a green area on the east side of the IPF that is flat and suitable for tables, chairs and canopies as opposed to scoreboard hill in Lot 9. The third reason Lot 10 should be the tailgate lot is because the IPF is a windbreak. This should be reason enough to move for anyone who was in Lot 9 for the Eastern Michigan hail blizzard this year. That almost ruined the rest of my day. Since UA had no plan for tailgating to begin with, people have gotten used to their spots and are not going to want to move now. Lot 9ers are not going to get their heads together and request Lot 10 passes instead because we are creatures of habit and Lot 9 is where we dwell. The U should boot all the tailgaters out of Lot 9. Make that the lot for donors that want to show up right before game time and park close. All tailgating should be done in Lot 10 until it is at capacity, then expand it over into Lot 8 if the community ever got that big. Now, implementing this plan now will be painful and will really frost a lot of people, especially at first. Some may even boycott and not make the move. I do believe this would be the best thing for the tailgating situation and in time everyone would probably be happy in Lot 10. My fellow Lot 9ers: Please do not send me hate mail. Rant over.
  19. GP1, Hopefully you are still getting on the board to read comments, although I understand you probably wanted this thread locked because you didn't want to respond to comments. You don't have to respond to me, but I hope you read this. Message boards need people like you. You spur conversation. You have a take. So much of this (and every other) board is filled with meaningless drivel from dullards like me. It takes people like you to keep it meaningful and entertaining. There are about a dozen posters that make this board. If the other eleven decided to hang it up, there would be no reason to visit here. If your Zips fandom never gets rekindled, I thank you for all the entertainment you provided while you were here. I will never forget (and I still giggle to this day) your suggestion to rename the MAC East & West divisions to the Dollar General & Family Dollar divisions. If your cartoon series has that kind of humor, it will be successful. Take care, GP1.
  20. Those answers must have ended up on the cutting room floor.
  21. Decent article on the Blazers http://www.sunherald.com/2014/11/30/5944033/end-is-near-for-uab-football-what.html
  22. All these alternate uniforms that are polluting college football are the epitome of the style over substance epidemic that plagues our society. Just because Oregon started all this due to their unique relationship with Nike doesn't mean it's a good idea for everyone else to copy. . .and everyone else is copying. Those cool ass gold chrome helmets? Yeah. Baylor did it. Washington did it. South Florida did it. Hell, even Tulsa got in on it. Black unis? UMass, Fresno State, Western Kentucky, Air Force, Memphis, Kentucky, North Carolina, Maryland, Arizona State, Stanford, Boise State, Ohio, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Washington, UCLA, Ball State, Baylor, Duke, Miami, Northwestern, Brigham Young, Hawaii & Texas A&M all thought that was a good idea too and I could probably name twice that many. I'll give Oregon a free pass because they invented it and BECAUSE THEY WIN. Everybody else? Just stop already. It's played out. Whenever I see Alabama on tv, they look like Alabama. I like that.
