Short lived. Kent and BG are on it and we are waiting in the tunnel.
-
Only to be followed by "I wanted to win both of them".
-
Balsy. You need to be more like me and lighten up! What kind of adult beverage do you like? I will bring it to homecoming with your name on it.

Yes there is such a thing as too long.
-
Me too. This is exciting.

You can't automatically assume that my statements are coming from a evil, conservative, white privilege origin. I wasn't intending to demean anyone by my statement. Bernie Sanders ran an entire campaign on wealth inequality. It is a fact. Wealth inequality cannot even itself up naturally because the routes to wealth are not what they once were. I am certainly not saying there is no hope for upward financial mobility in the U.S., but it is certainly not what it was 50 years ago. I think this is a pretty well accepted fact. The rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer. Here's a news report that came out just this morning as a matter of fact. . . Gap between rich and poor continues to widen, latest Fed data show People still want to emigrate here. This is true. But if it isn't for the golden opportunities that America presents, what is it for? The U.S. is still a better place to live than almost anywhere on earth even if you're living in the welfare state. It is no secret that American sentiment is moving away from the accepted traditions and realities of capitalistic wealth and more toward socialism, right? My comment was not meant to say anything about racial issues. Now that I've made it, I'm sorry I made it. Why are we even having this discussion in the 9100 Attendance thread?

With all due respect, people used to want to come to this country for the opportunity to achieve, now they come for the opportunity for a handout.

I wish Zips fans were fans, meaning I wish they were fanatic. The level of the average Akron fan's fanaticism is somewhere around the level of a soccer mom.
-
@dre22era, I am sorry to hear that your Akron experience was not a good one.
-
I will never bitch about a win. Show me one post where I did that.
-
You certainly could.

We can debate whether a win is a good win. That's reasonable. We can not debate whether a loss is a good loss. There is no such thing as a good loss.

Employers can set standards of conduct concerning free speech. They do so all the time. Freedom of speech cannot be restricted by the government and it is not.
-
This is not a free speech issue.

It is going to be interesting where this goes. The news is on right now and it's the leading story. Bread and Circuses.
-
Exactly what the Steelers are doing.

I never said the Zips should win every game. As a matter of fact, if you will look at my posts, I said I wished the Zips could compete like an upper level FCS team. That is not too much to ask for. I guess the difference between me and ZG01 and the rest of the board is that y'all can take a modicum of solace in a loss. We can't. Losing sucks. Period.

Close, but no stogie. Iowa lost to North Dakota State. They are ranked #10. North Dakota blows. That is who South Dakota beat.

LZ, you still give Bowden & Co. the benefit of the doubt. I don't. I look at these games through a totally different lens than someone does that is still in camp. I'm AWOL. The staff and their ways of conducting football business are totally unsavory to me. I will not be happy until they are gone. You can say and think whatever you want. It's America. That hasn't been taken away yet. But the fluffing of the Zips has become farcical. Bowden has complete ownership of the team and to blame its floundering on anyone but him comes across as quite Hillary-esque. They haven't beaten anybody. The nail you hang your hat on is the Black Friday win vs. Toledo. That is the only team the Zips have beaten with a winning record. In five years, Bowden has beaten exactly one team with a winning record. I believe, if I'm not badly mistaken, one evening in the JAR, Bowden said the Zips were gonna do "some winnin' and when I say winnin', I mean WINNIN'!" Still waiting and until that happens every loss is a bad loss.

Wait a second. Troy beat Southern Miss last year? Well that changes everything! Southern Miss? The mighty 7-6 Southern Miss?!?!? You can't be serious. And as far as using a close loss to a good team as any kind of a yardstick to measure a team's quality is absolute folly. It means less than jack $hit. I watched a terrible Akron Zips ball club piddle fart for 4 hours to lose to an equally inept Troy squad. Spin it however you want. That was bad football. If you can somehow pull any type of value out of last night's debacle, I wonder if you could enjoy watching 4 hours worth of Or Or And then get on here and tell me why I was wrong for thinking I watched a TW, DF, GF.

Bowden is 0-5 against BG. Currently the Falcons are one of the worst teams in FBS. Akron should be expected to win this game. If the Zips lose this one, who can they expect to beat on the rest of the schedule???
-
LZ and Skip, You can spout whatever you want about Troy's record last year, or the point spread, or that they were playing at home or whatever excuse you want to use to somehow make it seem like this isn't a bad loss. However. . . Is your eyesight ok? Did Troy look like a good team in any way, shape or form? If that is a team that makes a bowl game it will be because they play shittier competition than can be imagined. They were just as inept as the Zips. Terrible discipline. Terrible execution. They had a nice running back. I'll give you that. If I was the Troy OC, that guy would have run the ball 20 more times and won the game by 3 scores. Akron played a horrendously lackluster game and almost and should have gotten the road W. Time will tell and I certainly could be wrong, but for me, as of now, that's a terrible loss. Any game that is winnable with any remote semblance of basic football competence that winds up being a loss is a bad loss. Any excuses made are empty, delusional exercises in turd polishing.

Hey, on the bright side, we covered.
