How do "Read One and Run offenses" fare against "Big XII defenses"?

I voted ISU +11 also. Hard to get a feel for much out of the first 2 games, but the offensive line was having trouble opening holes for Ball versus UAPB. Warren was getting his yards on his own. This will be much tougher against ISU. On the other hand, Woodson had all day to throw last week. He could sit in the pocket and go through as many progressions as there were receivers running patterns. Unfortunately, our wrs weren't getting a lot of separation. Perhaps we have come up with some different strategies for the passing game this week. If I am the Cyclones, I stack the box to stop Ball and dare the Zips to beat you with the passing game. Defensively? Who knows? A good team did anything they wanted and a bad team couldn't do anything against the Zips. I hope the Cyclones offense is a helluva lot closer to the Golden Lions than the Nittany Lions or it's gonna be a long day. Definitely a report card game.

I would be proud to be a classmate of Derf's.

Oh my goodness. I looked at the waiting list and I thought it actually said Blowing Green but it was only the mild and inoffensive Bowing Green. Dang.

I voted Nate Stewart but I would have voted for Burkhart and Williams also if more voting for more than one was an option. We need to get as much experience as possible for the young receivers because we pretty much lose everybody after this season. The Kwadster will be back but that's it.

17464 attendance. UAPB brought in a lot more fans than Howard. ???

The stoppages for flags and media time outs make the game hard to watch.

Those are cool. I bet the Corps of Cadets love em too.

Actually, huge probably isn't p.c. In today's society I think I am metabolically challenged and exercise averse? "Like many Americans, I suffer from MCEA. . ."
-
I'm 6'3" 330#. Huge enough?

Wow. The stuff you can learn on the interwebs! UAPB defeated Morehouse in game 1, a D2 program in Atlanta. Some notable Morehouse alumni? Just to name 3.

I didn't realize he was a Golden Lion. Or him

If the 4:30 entry on the timeline means absolutely nothing to me, who is there for every game, what does it say to others who may be less familiar with gameday festivities? Not stirring the pot. Honest question.
-
I don't see the Roo Walk on that timeline. Has that been scrapped?

You mean like how we rehash almost beating Michigan?
-
No. Scheduling has not been the primary problem, but there is a primary problem that needs addressed. It is the elephant in the room no one wants to touch with a 39 and a half foot pole.

I understand "conventional wisdom". Where has "conventional wisdom" gotten the Zips and the MAC?

I think it would be a really, really good idea for G5 schools to change their way of thinking across the board. As a fan of a G5 school, I tend to think that our fan base looks down on lower tier P5 schools that pad their record with cupcakes to get to .500 to grab that magical bowl invite, while at the same time, justifying our doing the same. The difference is that those lower P5 schools have the money to buy a win. We don't. Make a list of the reasons for buying a game. Make a list of reasons for scheduling a payday. I think some of the reasons cancel each other out. There are schools that only schedule payday games. There are schools that only schedule cupcakes. We do both and they seem to be at odds with each other. If it is an accurate portrayal that our level of destitution is such that we can simply not survive without a payday game, we certainly can't afford to pay anyone anything to come here. The price is much too large to buy a win. If we are really that poor, we should schedule 2 payday games a year. It could be a good thing. It gives you 2 chances to pull off a miracle, which you and others put a lot of stock in. What's the upside of getting a win vs. a low 1AA? The general consensus of this board was that the beating we took from PSU was expected and there was little to learn about our team from the experience. It also appears that the general consensus of this board is that the destruction of UAPB is expected and there will be little to learn about our team from the experience. We are paying a helluva price to put a slash mark in the win column and wait until game 3 to know anything about our own team. I think that it is past time for the leadership of the G5 conferences to start to think differently about some solutions to the predicament we are in playing in FBS. I think there are some things that they should definitely try, but it would take courage.

Yes. We are not the Lone Ranger when it comes to being stupid.
-
Sure there is, Skip. Don't schedule a FCS team.
-
Yes. If your state of affairs makes it necessary to whore yourself out for a paycheck to make ends meet, it would stand to reason that you can't afford to pay for an opponent to come to your place. Now, it makes sense for a power school to pay out for another home game when they can fill a large stadium. It is spending money to make money. It makes no sense for Akron to pay out for a home game because they can put 9100 fans in the seats. It is spending money to lose money.
