We're neither really good or really bad. What we are is good enough to win in the MAC. Now we just have to execute better. I think 172 yards of total offense versus 544 yards allowed qualifies the Zips as "really bad". 172 yards is bad. How did they get there? Well, one missed pass that hit a WR in the hands that would have been a TD. Two poorly thrown balls by the QB that would have been TDs....at the least big plays. Two guys left at least 120 yards on the table. Probably 21 points. They won't be giving up 544 yards against MAC teams. They are out of their league when they play the SEC. The SEC is the best D-1A conference...the MAC is the near the bottom. The outcome should not have been a surprise to anyone. I'm actually shocked we didn't lose 56-0. What could have happened is a lot worse than what actually happened. I'm still holding out hope the MAC is as bad as I think it is. I actually saw a bunch of MAC teams play yesterday. We can beat any of them if they players just play better. They just need to pick up their first win. Once JD got his first win against Can't in 2004, things turned around. It can happen again. Try to stay positive Zips fans. There are a lot of games to be played and there are a lot of winnable games out there. We shouldn't give up on a 4-6 win season. I have been trying to be positive and try and find bright spots. But they are really few and far between. When you look at our performance so far, we are: 0-3. Maine outperformed us in every statistic in their loss to Syracuse. Gardner-Webb lost to Western Carolina at home. Western Kentucky had better stats against UK than the Zips. I realize that statistics can be misleading and comparisons between like opponents sometimes don't mean a whole lot. But DAMN! Looking at what has happened so far is not very encouraging. I keep waiting for them to show me something. Although we were losing last year I felt we were competitive most weeks and looked like we wanted to win. So far this year judging from the body language of the players, it looks as if Nate Burney is the only one fired up, ready to play and wanting to win. Next week is another chance for a start in the right direction. We need to see some progression!

The only way off is to win a game. I don't foresee that happening. That's what I was thinking.

Question is, will we stay here for the rest of the year? Bottom 10

I am still guilty of being too optimistic at 35-0, aren't I? 55-0 Kentucky 7 X 8 = 56, not 55....unless you think they will score on the last play of the game and not try the PAT. 55 points gets scored lots of times. It's called 7 touchdowns and 2 field goals.

I say 35-0. Doesn't look good, seeing how UK beat WKU 63-28. Do you think we could beat WKU? It appears we may have the better defense and they have the better offense. It will be interesting to see how the Hilltoppers do against Indiana Saturday.

Yep. And after the missed field goal their coach turned to the bench and said "YOU GOTTA BE READY TO SPILL YOUR BLOOD NOW!" The Bulldogs stood up and fired up. Looked across the field at the Zips and was like WOW, what a contrast! We had body language that said we were already beaten. So sad to see.

Rich Rodriguez was not the coach when they lost to App State. Lloyd Carr was.
-
And why he is being played so sparingly?
-
What makes you think that you are the only one? In retrospect, that was a telling sign, although I blew it off. I was all about giving Ianello the benefit of the doubt. I am being proven wrong.

The best quality win for the MAC just might be Temple over Villanova. Sad but true I'm afraid.

Their pressbox looks like the Hartville Kitchen. That's 'cause Reverend Falwell LOVED their salad dressing.

That's simply not true. Brookhart left the team with as much talent as we've had in the past decade. We're not in horrible shape, at least we weren't until the Rob Ianello tornado of incompetance came spinning its way into town. This team has the talent to play for a conference championship, but with this career loser position coach running things, we'll be lucky to win a conference game. Remember I am not an Akron fan.. I am an outsider looking in. You may not think your program is not in horrible shape, but it is. You have the best facilities in the MAC, yet you are the worst program in the MAC, at least one can argue that. Your previous coaching staff had a chance to recruit SOLID players to Akron when they were building that stadium, but they failed miserably at it. Let Ianello get some recruits here, and if he fails, then his time is up. Can you help me understand why you post here so much if you're not an Akron fan? Does Youngstown State not have a fan forum? We already won today, 31-7, in front of 18,025 fans at Stambaugh.. Not too much to talk about my friend. However I wanted to come here and at least defend your coach. You guys are nuts if you want him fired after two games. Few of you realized how bad your program became under Brookhart... now that you see it, you want Ianello's head... Well, let me be the first to thank you for enlightening us.

Liberty is a Top 25 FCS program. They are moving in the right direction and have a stadium that looks eerily similar to you on a smaller level, though they are planning to expand it to eventually go bigtime: Small....and one level?? And where exactly do you see any remote similarity? The field is 100 yards long.

Among other things.

Yeah, their stadium is full... Whaddaya mean? We drew 10046 today!
-
My God! That Liberty stadium is almost a mirror reflection of the Info! How eerie! Give me a break.

Face it...... this coaching staff can't make adjustments in a two week period. You want in-game adjustments? Jeez. I feel like I owe JD Brookhart an apology.
-
+1 Also on the positive side, and I am not trying to be a smart-ass... Supposedly the greatest improvement comes between the 1st and 2nd games. The band was good last week, but they seemed a lot tighter this week. They were definitely the highlight of the day!

In my best Jim Mora impersonation: "What’s that? Ah — Boise? Don’t talk about — Boise? You kidding me? Boise? I just hope we can win a game! ?" We are on our way to being the next WKU/EMU.

First Question: How can you be a captain of a FBS football team and not know coin toss protocol? You either want the ball or defer to second half. Hello? I will bet half of the kids from the visiting high school marching bands know that. Unbelievable. Second Question: If Jalil Carter is not even going to be on the field as WR, why is he not playing DB instead? He was able to play, obviously. He returned kickoffs all day. I may be incredibly stupid and need someone much smarter than I to splain this to me. You convert the best returning DB you have to WR so he can watch from the sidelines as the Wide Recievers struggle to get open and the Defensive Backs struggle to cover anybody? Huh?
