  1. We've always been at war with Eastasia.
  2. CK and ZW, Great posts both of you. Thank you for the insights. This is one of the best threads in quite some time IMO.
  3. Thank you Gozips for the awesome update.
  4. Source? "The Masses"
  5. The same defense that you said would be lucky to hold anyone under 40 this year? Geeeezzzz Zach. Make up your mind.
  6. Why rip on him?? Because, sadly enough, that was the most memorable play of the year. Granted..... my friend and I were unable to attend the E. Michigan game where we probably would have seen a more victorious play. You missed the EMU game? Bummer.
  7. I did not receive the save the date invite for the summer social. I got the save the date for ladies football 101. Great idea though. I wish they had done it last year. It may have mitigated a portion of Ianello's public relations disaster. I give the athletic department credit for trying. The letter from RI and TW thanking season ticket holders was a grateful and humble gesture that scored points with me. That was a good start toward better fan relations and it appears they want to continue the trend. I certainly hope so. I understand that no Zips fan is happy with the current status of the football program. For the new staff, "starting off on the wrong foot" was definitely an understatement. Cancelling the golf outing, the preseason lot 9 rumors, general bad pr and on-field failures created the "perfect storm" for negativity toward the new regime. Some fans are probably off the bandwagon as long as RI is here. Hopefully, through better pr and better execution on the field, many fans will come around. Go Zips!
  8. Once again CK is right. There isn't anything funny about it. If I'm not badly mistaken, I think there was a discussion about rehashing bad memories on the basketball board right before the tournament.
  9. Memories...Light the corners of my mind...Misty watercolor memories...
  10. Western Michigan, I believe.
  11. Shocker.
  12. 82-36 Offense wins. General concensus is that 44 was story of tbe game.
  13. 32-3. Offense is having their way.
  14. Please explain. Indoors out of the rain. Kid having a great time. Face painting, animals, zippy, inflatable ramp thing. Kids clinic before the game and now a packed field house watching the scrimmage. They got it right today. Now tackle the golf outing... am I right? It is pretty cool.
  15. I think I am "tailgating" at Pints.
  16. I am going to attend and I too am looking forward to getting a peek at The Lone Ranger. I have lots of questions because we have lots of needs. I want to see if Broderick Alexander looks healthy and ready to step into the forefront. Will the secondary look any better? Will anyone be able to pressure the qb now that Lemon is gone? I want to know if we have any wr's who can get it done. Is TJ Marchese the answer at K? I always look forward to watching Wags. I guess other than that I am looking forward to seeing a spirited scrimmage with lots of guys flying to the ball. Go Zips!
  17. Ugghhhh...I am sick and tired of playing Penn State! Play a different Big 10(12) school so I can travel to a new stadium. Play Minnesota, Mich St, Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa, somebody please! No more Indiana, PSU or Ohio State, blah. I would rather play Pitt over any Big Ten school. I would like to see a WVU 2 for 1.
  18. I know too...it means that Zips fans know nothing about this upcoming team. Seriously...did anyone learn anything from the last 77 second Ianello video? 77 seconds of generalities is all I have to talk about regarding Zips football. I could have written Ianello's sonnet. "We had a really spirited practice...guys were flying to the ball...the practice facility is really nice, but we hope to get outdoors...hope to see you at the Tap House." WTF is THAT? Zips fans are unfortunately WAY more informed about the lying, weasel Jim Tressel. Thus they spend time discussing his situation more than the Zips spring. Is Moore a legit competition to Nicely? Beats the hell out of me...I haven't seen Moore, and I have no idea how he's doing. No one from UA has anything to say about him. Is B. Alexander fully recovered from his knee injury? Beats the hell out of me...I have no idea how he's doing. How's the transfer DL from Michigan State looking...I'm expecting him to dominate this fall...is he tossing our incumbent OL's around like rag dolls? Is he out of shape? Beats the hell out of me...I have no idea how he's doing. Zips Athletics has absolutely no clue what it's like to be a fan of the Program. The awesome information packet of 77 second Ianello videos and a Spring roster .pdf makes me want to replay old Zips soccer and basketball games on my DVR. It doesn't get pumped, or informed about football. Tressel's a weasel. Wish I had read this post before I commented about the Ianello updates on another thread. I inadvertantly ripped off your summary of the information we are getting from the daily reports. I agree 100 percent with you on the lack of substance. We want to know how the players we haven't had a chance to see yet are looking and how the returnees are progressing. Next time I will try and make sure I am not plagiarizing you when I post, CK.
  19. Do you think it might be "Blah blah ba blah blah sprited blah blah ba blah blah enthusiastic blah blah ba blah blah shortage of linemen"? Bet I'm close.
  20. The whole "Akron U" thing was probably legitimized back in the day when they okayed it to be included in the fight song lyrics. By the time they got around to changing it to "Akron True", the damage had been done. Perhaps?
  21. Patrick Nicely was sacked 33 times last year. Tied for 13th most. Some of the players who were sacked more often you ask? Russell Wilson, TJ Yates, Tyrod Taylor, Dan Persa, Ryan Katz. So, the argument that PN's efficiency lacked due to his being #13 sack victim definitely does not hold water. PN had by far the lowest rating of any of the top 13 at 95.3. The most sacked, Jeff Tuel of Washington State, managed a 133.3 rating to go along with his 48 sacks. PN was ranked 113 in completion percentage, 115 in yards per attempt and 115 in qb rating. (Out of 116 that were ranked.) These are some of the numbers. Place the blame wherever you want I guess. Just do me a favor. Go back and watch the Can't game again.
  22. Everybody knows juco quarterbacks never pan out. What about Cam Newton and Chris Relf, the senior QB at Mississippi State that won 9 games in the SEC last year, not to mention Brett Favre is another QB with a very modest background. The fact that Clayton Moore had over a 100 QB rating and that he led his JUCO team to win the championship, and also won the MVP award of the JUCO bowl from Mississippi (which is vastly rich with D-1 transfers that have done well in the SEC) shows that he is a winner. Considering we didn't win a single game last year he has to be nothing but an improvement for us. My comment was made tongue in cheek. I'm not sure why the picture of Cam Newton isn't showing up beside my comment anymore. Poohpoohing juco transfers is silly in general and specifically insulting to those we have brought in.
  23. Everybody knows juco quarterbacks never pan out.
  24. Gary played in all 12 games and caught 22 passes. Too bad he won't be around to try and improve on those numbers. Hope there are a couple of surprises in the receiving corps ready to step up. Why should be be watching Blayther? Any good news for the secondary is great news. I was at practice today and it was clear that the receivers are going to be an issue this year. Only two look to be over six feet and they dropped a ton of balls. Hopefully AJ Price can come in and play like AJ Green.
