  1. That is precisely what Ken Lolla saw in 2005.
  2. Good thread! There are plenty of folks WAY too old to be AK Rowdies who also feel very indebted to Caleb Porter. We are not on campus as you are. But most of us would support whatever you decide to do. Ian, AJ, et al, I agree that this should be initiated by the AK Rowdies. Please forgive my maudlin sentimentality, but I once again suggest singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" ala Liverpool FC. (Has anyone seen the series on FOXSOC?) The song is short, classy, and traditional. Better yet, get some choral group from the university to do it. I promise not to mention it again, if you just think about it. Balloons are pretty FF from good enough, if you ask me.
  3. I would rather have that too tight shot than have no shot at all, which is what we now have.
  4. I lost the broadcast. Anyone else?
  5. Serna, dude, I would have scored on that.
  6. What is this? 3-4-3?
  7. "It's a traveshamockery!"
  8. Good article, Joshua Austin. Keep writing. Who are the alumni that endorsed/recommended Jared Embick? Who were the other candidates involved during the decision to promote Embick?
  9. It is about time you attended a match! Please provide match observations.
  10. For some reason, there is always a free video feed when we play in Oneonta.
  11. How dare you suggest 4-4-2! System continuity is ostensibly the reason Jared Embick was promoted. Long live Total Futbol! But seriously, if Zips were to ever revert to a 4-4-2 system, those two up top would be the choice... definitely.
  12. Well done, Andy!
  13. Good point! True! I really want that left-footed cross from the end-line. Give me that, and I vote Abdul-Salaam in starting 11 at LB.
  14. I was waiting for someone to comment on this. I give a mixed review on Abdul-Salaam at LB, especially at OSU. He seemed tentative to go to the end line for the cross, lacking confidence in his left-footed service. Instead, he cut it back for the drop pass almost every time. It got to the point that the OSU defense would anticipate his cut-back rather than his cross. It is entirely possible that he grows further into this position. His athleticism, ball skill, and pace are obvious. The undeniable talent of Abdul-Salaam notwithstanding, the best option I have seen at LB this year is Derschang, a natural lefty. The one match Derschang played at LB rendered a dozen left footed crosses, similar to Yedlin from RB position. Derschang is also the more physically rugged of the two. And Derschang is nearly as fast as Yedlin on the straight sprint. Regardless, Abdul-Salaam deserves significant PT somewhere on the pitch, even coming off the bench. I suspect his best position is L Wing/Forward. Good things are definitely ahead for this young man.
  15. Large propers to AK Rowdies and everyone else who made the trip to Jessee Owens. You did us proud! We clearly heard you obnoxious bastards throughout the telecast! So did the announcers. Keep up the strong work!!!!! Hoover or bust!!
  16. David Meves will undoubtedly play professionally.
  17. Add OSU to that list soon.
  18. Meves had the weak shot covered easily but slipped in the mud. In fairness, our first goal was a bit cheap as well, so it evened out.
  19. I must say, even on a really sloppy pitch, the Terps looked really strong. They are at least as good as we are.
  20. We need players' names on back of our jerseys (especially since the jersey numbers are illegible). Maryland kit is very nice! Kids come to Akron (and Maryland) to become pros. Put their names on their backs.
  21. I will sell you one for $35. Bring cash to WVA tailgate. Not really. Just joking. Maybe Aaron will sell his.
  22. These are two good sides, USF playing same system as us. However, neither of these teams looks like us. Only team (that I've seen) that passes like we do is St. Johns.
  23. Most goals? Yes. But the Best Performance in the Porter era (so far) was the come-from-behind semi-final vs. that same Michigan team.
  24. I never suggested first round for Meves. Second round sounds plausible. Certainly, free agency is an option. That is why I initiated discussion regarding acquisition of MLS Goal Keepers. How does this usually occur? I think Meves has just recently played himself into the pros. But my real point is that Portland needs a new GK, and Porter is very comfortable with Meves.
  25. I think Tank has it right. #1 through #4 seeds are equivalent. I would love others to weigh in on this subject. Better for us to keep UNC out of top four. Let Maryland take #1. Match is at College Park.
