  1. Not Zips related per se, but the previously unknown player (to me) that has impressed during the 2018 MLS Combine is: Wyatt Omsberg CB - Dartmouth "Nobody helped their stock more this week, though it wasn't because of what he did on the field. Omsberg wasn't an unknown – he's been the best player in the Ivy League for a couple of years, and he was heavily scouted in the PDL. People knew he could play. What folks didn't know was the extent of his athleticism. He was literally the fastest player over 10 meters at this Combine, and the quickest defender in the 5-10-5 agility test. Seeing that from a 6-foot-4 left-footer is rare. He's pretty much exactly what Montreal need. They've gotten beat up in the air and out-physicaled on the ground for years." I had read about him. It was cool to finally see him in the combine. He looks like a can't miss prospect to me. USMNT? https://www.mlssoccer.com/players/wyatt-omsberg
  2. I must disagree with Matthew Doyle. Joao is a terrific 1 v 1 defender. Without Moutinho's 1 v1 tackling, Zips would have lost many key matches on the way to 2017 College Cup. Zips could have lost vs. Wisconsin. Zips most likely would have lost in Louisville without Joao's 1 v 1 defending. Watch the recordings, Matthew.
  3. There are several on the "official" list of Zips In The Pros that do not care about Akron Soccer the way that Victor Souto does. How many on that list have a Z tattooed on their ribs?
  4. Right. History should not be re-written (so quickly).
  5. Zips Nation are very proud of Nate Shultz. He has come a long way as player, now potentially a professional prospect. All around good guy from a solid family! We hope he gets to take his dream to the next level.
  6. I lived in Munroe Falls for some time. I have family (on both sides) living in Stow. I know the area very well. And TennZip is a proud graduate of Workman HS, the former S/MF HS. At the intersection of Darrow Road and Graham Road, there is plaza containing Marcs and some other stores. That is where Workman HS used to be, back in the Middle Ages when TennZip was enjoying his 7 years.
  7. I attended the match at Bowling Green around Labor Day, 2010. This was Kitchen's coming out party. Air Superiority! On every Goal Kick, every Free Kick for distance, every punt, every long pass was I was yelling PERRY's BALL!!! At the top of my lungs. Those of you who have been with me during a match know that I can be loud. Everyone in Cochrane Stadium heard me. And don't you know it, Perry Kitchen won the ball every single time. Falcons. Could. Not. Stop. Kitchen. That is when I knew that Zips had a man among boys.
  8. Niko has steadily improved throughout his time in Akron. Every Fall, every Spring, he has worked hard and bettered his skills. What more can be asked of anyone? Thanks, Niko.
  9. All should read this article.
  10. Saw drunk? Or was drunk? Never mind!
  11. I was thinking the same!
  12. Rumors swirling of Nagbe to Atlanta. ESPN, etc.
  13. Take the time to read this excellent article by Michael Douglass. https://www.ohio.com/akron/editorial/commentary/michael-douglas-thats-four-college-cups-in-eight-years
  14. TennZip beat me to that correction. We have not seen David Egbo’s best stuff yet. You can bet on that one.
  15. Yes. Stanford has enjoyed top 5 recruiting classes for at least 4 years in a row. Cardinal can press like that because they have the horses to do it . And both of the goals were really good scores. Those score on any team anywhere.
  16. Cardinal were relentless. All pressure all the time. They really rattled Zips. Better team won.
