Any Preferred NCAAT Opponents?

Not especially. He has not had good things to say about Ohio in general. Not recently. -

Joao Moutinho is mine and everybody's pick for MAC FOTY. But much (unexpected) love for Daniel Strachan, who has pleasantly surprised us all. CB has not looked this good since Barson/Gallego tandem. And I would say that the Moutinho/Strachan tandem has the highest ceiling since.............. Which CB tandem is the best in Zips history?? Barson/Valentin Docking/Smith Spelling/Pendleton Other -

Should Zips win the MAC Tournament (like we all hope they do), they will be right on the cusp of top 8 seed, depending on what other teams do. I am just re-phrasing your words. God, I am nervous about this weekend! -

2017 NCAA D1 Mens Soccer Rankings

Broncos are in an unenviable position where they stand to lose more than they can gain. But that is how it goes on your way up. The ACC, BiG, and BEast all want to keep their seats at the table. They don’t like strangers. -

Right. Change it here as well. I am too easily confused as it is. Very good to see you cross pollinating. -

2017 NCAA D1 Mens Soccer Rankings
fknbuflobo replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Courtesy of SBZipfan on BigSoccer.com: Top 8 seeds were first listed in 1997. Since then, Connecticut 2000, UCSB 2006, Indiana 2012, and Virginia 2014 were champions not in the top 8. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_soccer_RB/2011/D1Brackets.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Men's_Soccer_Championship That is actually more than I would have guessed. -

You are correct (as usual). What I should have said: Top 8 seeds get first round bye and home field advantage in third round. http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/soccer-men/d1 I wonder how many champions come from outside the top 8 seeds, since field was expanded to 48. -

The line of demarcation is top 8. That is what matters. The difference between #16 and #9 is insignificant. Teams getting the first round bye is very significant. More often than not, the champion will come from these top 8 teams getting the first round bye. -
Right. And more is the pity. RPI is an anachronistic and deeply flawed system. http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2017-rpi-calculations.2068278/ I am reminded by Gaucho Dan that the bonus system for RPI changes from year to year. Example: In some years a home draw against a top 30 opponent is worth more than in other years. In some years a home loss versus an opponent outside the top 50 is a 5 point penalty. In other years, it is only a 3 point penalty. Etc. And the NCAA does not publish their formula. How corrupt is that? Gaucho Dan takes the NCAA RPI results and deduces their formula for that given year. He cracks their code every year. So, when you see 5 teams from ACC in the top 10 RPI, you needn't scratch your head. It is that way because it is supposed to be that way.

Kentucky was MAC RSC in 2003 and 2004. Huh. I wish Kentucky would return to the MAC. That could easily happen, you know. How is it that in 2006, a 13-5-1 record was not good enough for an AL NCAA berth?

Buffalo Bob is on the job.

Stuey ate that slow back line alive.

There are conceivable if not likely scenarios where Zips get two NCAA matches.

The beard may have indicated a bit as well. You never really know these days. Great job ZipsVoice! Keep up the strong work. Just yanking your chain a bit. (Those Arsenal boxing gloves are hanging from my rear view mirror.) Bring on Marshall.

And how you know I a boy? I was specifically ambiguous about that.
