  1. But these guys have the speed to counter attack. Unlike most opponents, they have a few guys faster than Hinds. Zips must remain vigilant. Cougars’ only hope is the counter.
  2. Whoever plays RB for WMU must have had one hell of a year, because I KNOW for a fact that Nate Shultz did. 2nd Team my ass!
  3. I would move Hinds to LB. He has that mind-set anyway.
  4. That is what I thought! Your article from WMU seemingly suggests a five team semi-final. Amateur soccer meets amateur copy editing. "The seeding for the tournament will see Western as the number one seed, Akron will take the second seed, newcomers to the conference Southern Illinois University have the third seed and rounding out the field will be Bowling Green as the fourth seed." "You can see the fifth ranked WMU men’s soccer team in action when they host West Virginia University in the first round of the MAC tournament here in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Nov. 10. The finals of the MAC tournament will be hosted at the WMU Soccer Complex as well on Nov. 12."
  5. Not especially. He has not had good things to say about Ohio in general. Not recently.
  6. Joao Moutinho is mine and everybody's pick for MAC FOTY. But much (unexpected) love for Daniel Strachan, who has pleasantly surprised us all. CB has not looked this good since Barson/Gallego tandem. And I would say that the Moutinho/Strachan tandem has the highest ceiling since.............. Which CB tandem is the best in Zips history?? Barson/Valentin Docking/Smith Spelling/Pendleton Other
  7. Who is MAC 4th seed, BGSU or WVA?
  8. Zips need to beat Cougars Friday, in regulation.
  9. Should Zips win the MAC Tournament (like we all hope they do), they will be right on the cusp of top 8 seed, depending on what other teams do. I am just re-phrasing your words. God, I am nervous about this weekend!
  10. http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/conference-tournament-and-key-regular-season-games-this-week.2078013/ Here is an overview of the many outcomes to be determined this critical week in NCAA soccer.
  11. These tweets from Zak make me want to open a twitter account. Discerning national executive policy might be an added bonus.
  12. Broncos are in an unenviable position where they stand to lose more than they can gain. But that is how it goes on your way up. The ACC, BiG, and BEast all want to keep their seats at the table. They don’t like strangers.
  13. In 2015, NCAA committee made up for many previous Akron slights.
  14. I can’t get warm.
  15. Right. Change it here as well. I am too easily confused as it is. Very good to see you cross pollinating.
  16. ...To the surprise of no one. ??
  17. Courtesy of SBZipfan on BigSoccer.com: Top 8 seeds were first listed in 1997. Since then, Connecticut 2000, UCSB 2006, Indiana 2012, and Virginia 2014 were champions not in the top 8. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_soccer_RB/2011/D1Brackets.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Men's_Soccer_Championship That is actually more than I would have guessed.
  18. You are correct (as usual). What I should have said: Top 8 seeds get first round bye and home field advantage in third round. http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/soccer-men/d1 I wonder how many champions come from outside the top 8 seeds, since field was expanded to 48.
  19. The line of demarcation is top 8. That is what matters. The difference between #16 and #9 is insignificant. Teams getting the first round bye is very significant. More often than not, the champion will come from these top 8 teams getting the first round bye.
  20. Right. And more is the pity. RPI is an anachronistic and deeply flawed system. http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2017-rpi-calculations.2068278/ I am reminded by Gaucho Dan that the bonus system for RPI changes from year to year. Example: In some years a home draw against a top 30 opponent is worth more than in other years. In some years a home loss versus an opponent outside the top 50 is a 5 point penalty. In other years, it is only a 3 point penalty. Etc. And the NCAA does not publish their formula. How corrupt is that? Gaucho Dan takes the NCAA RPI results and deduces their formula for that given year. He cracks their code every year. So, when you see 5 teams from ACC in the top 10 RPI, you needn't scratch your head. It is that way because it is supposed to be that way.
  21. Kentucky was MAC RSC in 2003 and 2004. Huh. I wish Kentucky would return to the MAC. That could easily happen, you know. How is it that in 2006, a 13-5-1 record was not good enough for an AL NCAA berth?
  22. Buffalo Bob is on the job.
