  1. I mean no disrespect, but that is unacceptable hogwash! Your several years of patience could easily turn into never again if we are not careful. Zips absolutely must AT LEAST make the NCAA Tournament this year! Recruiting depends on it. Rookie HC Carlos Somoano succeeded legendary Tarheels' coach Elmar Bolowich by promptly winning the 2011 championship. http://www.goheels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB...TCLID=205497556
  2. "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief."
  3. Totally agree on this one. Gallego is still a leader, no bout a doubt it. But Stevenson is matching leadership with on-the-field excellence. He is ferocious this year. He has come such along way from skinny kid at Worthington Christian! In 2009, there was no way I would have thought he would be the player he is now. Hell, I think he might even play his way into the pros! Wow!
  4. Do you have any more information on who spoke and what they said at the "I believe" chant? I arrived late.
  5. Very well said.
  6. Does there exist a transcript of the HT Wil Trapp interview?
  7. Observations on the atmosphere: 1. The home loss, in our tournament, to VCU really hurt the season and hurt the program. Fans do not perceive the Zips as a legit contender. 2. An irreplaceable and extraordinarily charismatic leader is gone. Duh. 3. Fans have accurately discovered that the bleachers are the only good seats. There are no good seats in FE/CC that do not require season tix. There are a few choice standing places for General Admission, but no good GA seats. This hurts the program in the long view. They need to expand the bleachers on either side and open it to GA. More would attend if they could get a decent seat.
  8. That is still funny.
  9. As usual, throw out the respective W/L records when these two programs face each other. This match-up is more than just bragging rights, it is about recruiting the state of Ohio.
  10. Up and coming BGSU Falcons visit FA/CC. Despite the Falcons' recent "success" and the Zips' underachieving struggles early on, I expect a beat down. Time to take out our frustrations on somebody!
  11. St. John's #7 VCU #8
  12. I count that horrific goal surrendered as Pina error. Gravatt played the ball square to Pina, which was already questionable in a tight space. Pina then played a veritable hospital ball square to Souders. Aztecs pounced. Pina was the only one with the vantage point of seeing the entire field. He should have seen the Aztec press, one-touched that ball for a ride. If over the touch-line, then so be it! That is my recollection of events. It was disgusting to witness. Souders is a tackling machine, and he wins almost every head ball. His passes, especially back to GK, are sometimes shaky. This may be a moot point, because I suspect that Bryan Gallego is going to miss significant time before returning. Louis Cross/Andrew Souders tandem will likely see at least a few matches.
  13. I am certain he meant to write "a turn" meaning turning with the ball. He can either write that Eric turned or that Eric made a turn. But he cannot safely write both, which is what he did. I might add that a turn is a fundamental element of the sport and quite difficult to accomplish efficiently. Eric Stevenson is especially adept at turning, even for this level.
  14. It was very fitting that Eric Stevenson won it in 2OT. He was one of the few Zips having a good tournament. Well done E!
  15. Right. Most of this content belongs on a previous posting, one created specifcally for the appropriate match.
  16. Totally agree!
  17. I beg to differ. VCU GK did nothing spectacular. Zips' finishing was excrutiatingly poor. Sometimes when a net-minder stands on his head it is the deciding factor of the match. That was not the case last night.
  18. You have identified yet another quirk in the NCAA rules. In NCAA Soccer, all OT scoring is sudden death or golden goal. This is one of the few, maybe the only, NCAA rules that I prefer over FIFA. I actually like this one.
  19. Mexico likely will need to win a Home and Away series vs. New Zealand.
  20. That is apples to oranges comparison. 1)International friendly against top 20 national side Belgium. compared to 2)WC Qualifier vs. #1 Futbol (and popular culture) rival Mexico. CBS just might sell out for that.
  21. CONCACAF is one of the six sub components of FIFA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONCACAF The World Cup is the FIFA World Cup, all under the same governing body. So, the apparatus for ending these shenanigans is already in place, should they ever choose to execute the rules.
  22. My preferred lineup: ....Stevenson.......Seremba...... .................Brenes................... ........Quinn.........Najem........... .................Souto.................... .Derschang...........Abdul-Salaam .........Souders...Gallego........... ...................Pina..................... I want Robbie Derschang to return to old form. He needs to get to the end line and serve that left-footed cross into the box, on the spot.
  23. Clarence Goodson filled in admirably for Matt Besler. Well done, USMNT!!! Dos a Cero!!
