  4. http://www.ohio.com/sports/34793019.html"What it means for UAUA Athletic Director Mack Rhoades is well aware of the scenarios.''If we can take care of business — and we don't want to put the cart before horse — if we can beat Ohio and Temple, then we put ourselves in position for an open bowl spot,'' Rhoades said. The MAC has three bowl commitments — the International, the GMAC and the Motor City Bowl. Ball State, the East winner (Buffalo or Bowling Green or even UA) and either Central or Western Michigan will take those three spots. If WMU doesn't get an automatic bid, it will certainly get an at-large bid.But if UA is 7-5, and there aren't enough teams to fill the other spots, the Zips might have forced the issue. One other factor to consider: If there aren't enough bowl-eligible teams, MAC teams could jump to other bowls and other MAC schools could fill in the three bowls that are committed to the conference."

  7. "The Zips are playing their final game in the venerable Rubber Bowl but have yet to beat a team winning record this season. If UB beats the Zips this week and BGSU on November 21, the impossible will actually happen; the Bulls will win the MAC East and will be “bowling” for the first time in school history. UB is playing the best football of any east division team right now and should ride the wave to a victory."Ok so Syracuse sucks and Army too...Can't and EMU are Can't and EMU...Toledo is a shell of it's former selfWe lost to Ball State 9-0 ( ranked #16) and Cincinnati 7-2 (tied for 1st-Big East) and BG (gave it away at the end) at home. The MAC East record is rather pathetic too...Only the Zips and Buffalo are 5-4Everbody else is .500 or below. How is that the Zips' fault???Akron 5-4Buffalo 5-4Bowling Green 5-5 Temple 3-6 Miami OH 2-7Can't State 2-7Ohio 2-8 Ohio and Miami have fallen on hard times.BG hasn't run away with it like they were supposed to.. 16. I would just like to be 7-5 and in the mix for a Bowl somewhere period..It is possible the Zips may be the only bowl eligible team from the MAC East.Zips (4-4, 2-2) 4 winnable games remaining. Toledo, Buffalo, OU and Temple are all winnable games...Win out and we go to a Bowl (8-4) plus MCC game puts you at (9-4) or (8-5).Temple is (3-5, 2-3) @ Navy, @ Can't State, EMU, AkronBG (3-4, 1-2) has @ NIU, @ Can't State, Buffalo, ToledoBuffalo (3-4, 1-2) has @ Ohio, Miami, Akron, @ BG, Can't StateMiami (2-5, 1-2) has Can't State, @ Buffalo, Ball State, @ Toledo, @ OhioOhio (2-7, 1-2) has Buffalo, BG, Akron, @ MiamiCan't (1-6, 0-3) has @ Miami. @ BG, Temple, NIU, @ BuffaloI may end up having to root for the flushes to win out..

  22. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...ll_have_to.html"Akron (3-3, 1-1) looks to be as good as any team in the Mid-American Conference East Division following its double-overtime victory at Can't State on Saturday. This week, the Zips can stake their claim at homecoming when they host preseason East Division favorite Bowling Green (2-3, 0-1) at the Rubber Bowl. ""As for the Zips, they have the best record in the division, courtesy of three teams (Syracuse, Army, Can't) with three combined wins on the season."
  23. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/29926454.html"University of Akron running back Andrew Johnson has been released from the hospital, but will not play this week at Can't State.Johnson, a senior, was hurt in the third quarter of Saturday's 17-15 loss to the University of Cincinnati. Play was stopped for about 15 minutes and he was taken from the Rubber Bowl in an ambulance.Initially, it was believed he suffered a neck injury, but tests at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron showed it was ''stingers'' to both shoulders. He was released Saturday night."
