Like going 0-12 in the Big East is an improvement over 1-11 in the MAC... They would kick us out just like they did to Temple....

Well... now we know what's been holding back UA athletics all these years. It's us-- the fans. All 8000 of us. It's not the yearly choke jobs by the Basketball or Football teams. Nope. Afterall, it's the fans that have created the success the soccer team is enjoying right now. Not the fact that they win consistently. Not the fact the wins are over recognizable national names.. The only reason fans show up now (all 2,000-4,000) is because they play and have success against the "name" schools. OSU, Michigan, Notre Dame etc. As long as they continue to win, support continues. Tell me what happens should they finish .500 next season? Back to playing in front of friends and family.... For the record: Fans didn't start showing up for soccer until the last couple of seasons -- when they played deep into the NCAA's or for a national title. They've been good for nearly 30 years -- When I was in school in the mid '80s. Nobody cared then. Even when they played Duke for the title in '86 there was barely a blip on campus. Sheesh... My favorite Non-Sequitors: "Build it and they will come" Infocision and Football "Show up at games and they will win (or at least play harder/better)" Ignorant Zips Fans with no clue The truth: "Win consistantly against name opponents and then they will come and you can build it." Examples: Butler, Gonzaga, TCU, Boise State, "Lose to CSU or Arkansas Pine Tree and beat Milliken, then don't be surprised when nobody cares."

It's called the "Akron Effect." Get excited about any Zips sports team. Build your expectations way out of proportion and then act surprised when we blow chunks. Happens every year. This year is no different than any other. This might be considered blasphemy -- but I'm waiting for the soccer team to lay the "Akron Egg" in the tourney too....

Seems they are in the same boat. Info has not brought us any benefit in scheduling. The Syracuse 2 for 1 was before the Info was even thought about. Indiana was from the MAC-Big Ten scheduling agreement. Cincy 2 for 1 was because they took Mike Thomas ( part of his buyout). We botched Kentucky. FAU faces a similar issue.... give them a couple of years and they'll pass us by just like FIU, WKY, Villanova, Charlotte, JMU, YSU, Appalachian St, Montana ..... Mount Union, BW,....Capital, Dayton, Findlay, U of Phoenix.... FAU Scheduling Issue

Embarassingly pathetic. For the fans. For the University and the players. And now it's official. My economic situation is forcing re-evaluation of any and all expenditures. I can't afford it anymore to begin with. My wife was laid off and then add the utter failure of the program and I can't make any other decision. I can't justify wasting any more money going to Zips games only to get sick to my stomach watching this stuff. UA's I-A experiment has been a utter failure. We should drop football and add Curling.
