I am going to try to update the known schedule on the first post.......so all of us can go to this first post ....and see the most up to date view of what has been announced I have filled in the day of the week....after the team name The Big East schedule starts on Sept. 18th....and continues for 7 weeks after that Exhibition season First exhibition game - August 8th Home game against Michigan (SAT) zips normally play 2 or 3 exhibition games Regular season will start on Thursday August 20th August 20 Dayton (THURS) August 24 Army (MON) August 28 Wake Forest (FRIDAY) September 3 at West Virginia (THURS) September 12 at St. Louis (SAT) September 18 Butler (BE) (FRIDAY) September 22 Robert Morris (TUESDAY) September 25 Georgetown (BE) (FRIDAY) Friday October 2nd or Saturday October 3 - Big East road game at DePaul October 11 Creighton (BE) (SUNDAY) October 16 at Providence (BE) (FRIDAY) October 20 at Cleveland State (TUESDAY) October 24 Xavier (BE) (SAT) October 31 at Villanova (BE) (SAT) November 6 at Marquette (BE) if the zips have 17 games on their schedule., I think that we probably know their 17 opponents 14 regular season opponents with known schedule date Big East games to be played against teams that have not announced their schedules DePaul on the road...the weekend of Oct. 2 or 3 Home non conference games that have been mentioned by coaches 2 thru 3..... Now, the game has been moved to the Crew Training fields? Do they even have seating at the training fields? and Marshall has to play at Ohio State home field for the championship game? and Bowling Green and Michigan State are playing at BG? What happened to all of the games being played at Historic Crew stadium? and Michigan looks like they completely bailed on the spring league.... the spring league has been a big disappointment this year.

I am happy with this news. Coach Embick and Coach Groce are both outstanding coaches and Akron is very fortunate to have both leaders. Coach Embick and his staff have done a great job in adding players for next fall. The future is bright for Akron soccer. The Beacon has a long article about the contract extension. Stefan Dobrijevic, Austin FC II – The Akron scoring ace has precedent going from Zip, to NEXT Pro to an MLS deal. Jason Shokalook is part of the Chicago Fire after first signing with the second team. Dobrijevic is a strong candidate in Austin to pull off the same feat. The striker has the quality to bang in NEXT Pro goals and earn first-team reps. It won’t be simple because the team does pour tons of money into its attacking positions via transfers (and they rarely work).

If my memory is correct, I think all college soccer teams are limited to playing games on 6 dates in the spring. Weather in NE Ohio is so unpredictable. Hopefully, the zips can add match in late Match.

It is great to see Remi Agunbiade's name on the roster. Remi , who was drafted in the MLS draft, definitely will be a future MLS player. I know that Remi will continue to improve...and will help the Zips have a great fall campaign. When looking at the roster, I am particularly excited by the 5 names shown as forwards. Angel Lopez Martin Aiden Benitez Remi Agunbiade Ignacio Alem Farrell Ngongang Angel and Aiden both had outstanding freshman campaigns at their respective schools. Farrell really has great talent and could be poised for a big step up in year 2. Ignacio had some outstanding moments late in the year. I think that Londen Sears and Leo Morana saw time as forwards in High School. I am sure that our coaching staff will find the best position for them in the college environment. You can never have too many good forwards and I am excited to see this group score some goals in the sping and in the fall.
