  1. Jared not happy at all "We were poor on the day this afternoon," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "We were not strong on the ball and we just kicked the ball instead of trying to pass. We lost focus on the back and were not tough enough individually and we had no identity today. We can't expect to win if we do not stay true to Akron Soccer and our identity. We lost sight of that today and we need to get it back Tuesday." http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/10/7/mens-soccer-no-12-western-michigan-edges-no-8-akron-1-0.aspx
  2. http://www.wmubroncos.com/news/2017/10/7/mens-soccer-no-12-broncos-take-down-akron.aspx quote from a happy WMU coach...(attendance shows as 1,221 in box score) "What a performance from the men today! That was the most discipline 90 minutes we have played all year." Head coach Chad Wiseman said. "Beating Akron doesn't happen often, it's certainly not easy but you have to give the players the credit for how they played today."
  3. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2017/10/07/match-report-toronto-fc-ii-2-4-bethlehem-steel-fc/ Three Points: Adam Najem continues to impress lately tallying two assists in the match, pushing his total for the year to eight – a new Bethlehem club record. He always seems to be finding open space in the midfield for his teammates whether he is evading defenders with his dribbling or connecting crucial one-two touch passes. Najem has fulfilled his role beautifully this season and will be a very important player moving forward on this playoff run. Only eight minutes into the second half and Bethlehem scored once again in the 53rd minute. Aaron Jones connected with midfielder Adam Najem who then found Derrick Jones for an easy third goal which served as the nail in the coffin for Toronto. Najem and fellow midfielder James Chambers utilized excellent vision all night completing countless creative passes allowing Steel FC to threaten Toronto all night long. As the game progressed, it seemed as if both Najem and Chambers found more and more confidence to complete longer connecting passes which created even more openings in Toronto’s shaky defense.

  13. http://unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/Rankings/College_Rankings/NCAA_DI_MEN/web/Rankings/NCAA/DI_MEN.aspx the college soccer coaches......remain the toughest critics for the zips zips were 42 last week zips are #26 this week akron beat Michigan State 4-1 ; tOSU lost to Michigan State 5-1 coaches have Ohio State at 27.... Michigan State barely dropped in the rankings Western Michigan only dropped from 9 to 12 after losing 4-1 to Portland. Syracuse is still receiving votes in this poll.....Wins over Syracuse and Western Michigan...both on the road....would clearly help the zips in both the coaches poll and in the most important....RPI

  24. Huge game and scarves are available to be picked up by the season ticket holders E-mail from the athletic department Zips Fan, I wanted to follow up the email I sent you on the weekend. Your STH gift has arrived safely in Akron. We appreciate your patience on this issue. You may pick up your scarf at the marketing table until the 80th minute of tomorrow's game with Michigan State. I spoke earlier with Coach Embick and he wanted me to stress the importance of tomorrow's match with the top-ranked Spartans. This is a crucial match in our 20117 campaign. Kickoff is at 7:00. He and I hope to see you there!
  25. I am not in the area, either.... I would say no to your first question another point....the recruiting class for last year....was ranked #1 or #2 in the country....there was tremendous excitement about Jon Lewis, Nick Hinds, Marcel Zajac, etal Add that to most players returning from the final four and the product sold itself. this year's recruiting class was not highly ranked...and the team lost several key players from a team that lost in the round of 32 Not to beat a dead horse...because others have said it already....Having 4 out of your first 5 matches on the road and backloading the schedule with games is not a way to build interest. Next year, I would hope that the 2nd home game of the year will occur before Sept. 24th.
