Ohio State lost their first match today. Hopefully, there are a lot of zip fans that will go to Columbus. Ohio State def. Northwestern 2-0 a week ago The Ohio State men’s soccer team¬ suffered its first loss of the 2014 season Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 at No. 10 Penn State at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pa. The Buckeyes (2-1-3, 1-1-0 B1G) held the Nittany Lions (6-0-1, 2-0-0) scoreless for the majority of the contest before Penn State collected the only goal of the match midway through the second half to earn the conference win.

That is the best half of soccer that I have seen from the Zips since the 2010 year. The young players have shown great improvement. Very happy for Jared Embick and the entire team. Go Zips!

Louis Cross also started and played the whole game in Syracuse's exhibition win over Akron. I also hope Caso is OK. I did think that Aguilar provided a spark on the offensive side of the ball. Aguilar , due to his size, won't win a lot of balls in the air but his quickness was impressive. Florida Gulf Coast defeated South Florida 2-0 on Friday night so 2 tough matches next weekend. Ken Lolla had a big opening night win as the Cardinasl knocked off Maryland

for what it is worth, akron's first 2 regular season opponents also struggled in exhibitions this year #5 New Mexico lost 1-0 to Air Force and tied Denver 1-1 2nd opponent...South Florida tied St. Leo 1-1 and lost 1-0 to Tampa University hopefully, the zips can get it cranked up in the regular season

Do any of the "insiders" know why Ezana Kahsay did not play in the 2 exhibitions? I did see some good things last night from Sam Gainford, Sean Sepe and Richie Laryea. I know last night is only one game and it is unfair to pick on a freshman. However, I would prefer to see Stuart Holthusen or Anthony Macchionne up front with Sam and Sean. The whole team was very tentative and cautious last night...and Nate Shultz also exhibited those symptoms.
