I think the Zips will take care of business....and we will have plenty of ammunition after the tourney The reasons given to TW.....are weak... they gave him top 25 wins... isn't the top 25 convenient....as Akron had wins over #26 (S. FLA), #27 (Mich) and #30 Michigan state... change it to top 30 and argument falls apart.... and lets address Connecticut's weak results they lost to #74 Providence... Providence ended the year at 4-10-2.... so Providence was only able to beat Connecticut and 3 other teams Connecticut tied #78 Boston U. Boston U. finished the year 6-8-4 so 8 teams defeated BU and CT could not get it done -
what he wrote about his conversation with NCAA selection committee If you attended our Official NCAA Selection Show Party at Johnny J’s in the Valley, then you heard Coach Porter express our surprise at earning the No. 5 seed, but that this will not impact our team. I spoke for 30 minutes on Tuesday to the chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Selection Committee and to the NCAA staff liaison to ask why the math doesn’t add up. I wanted to understand how the No. 1- ranked team in all of the national polls – and ranked second in the RPI – equated to the fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament. Basically, it was explained to me that our number of Top 25 wins (one, over Indiana) was the difference maker, since Georgetown and Connecticut each have four. Unlike those other two schools, we don’t have any bad losses, but it was helpful to understand better the committee’s decision-making criteria, and I genuinely appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with them. We will continue to schedule as tough a non-conference slate as we can (this year we had the toughest non-conference strength of schedule in the nation) to position ourselves for a top-4 seed, which guarantees home matches until the College Cup.

Washington was not #10 in the last NSCAA coaches poll. Marquette was #10. Washington climbed from #24 to #21 in this week's rankings. In the round of 32, the #12 seed should be facing the 21st ranked team Creighton probably deserved to be seeded higher than #12. However, their league also gets no respect as SIU-Edwardsville should be in the tourney

Apparently Zips soccer coach Caleb Porter is looking to give his team as much of a home pitch advantage as possible. A spokesman confirmed that Porter purchased 300 tickets for the AK Rowdies for this Sunday's upcoming NCAA Tournment game. Members of the Rowdies can pick up tickets at their campus office today or Friday during business hours. Or by participating in the March to the Match beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

November 8, 2012 Regan Set To Chair NCAA Men’s Soccer Committee WORCESTER, Mass. – With the start of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament one week away, Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr.'s responsibilities as chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee begin to move into the spotlight this week. This weekend, Regan will be in Indianapolis, Ind., to lead the committee as it selects the 48 men's soccer teams which will take part in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The committee will also be in charge of seeding the top 16 teams in the tournament, constructing the national bracket and selecting the host institution for each contest. The bracket is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Nov. 12, at 5:30 p.m. Regan and the other members of the committee will be responsible for staffing and assigning officials for each game throughout the tournament. The Committee will then oversee all operations for the 2012 NCAA Men's College Cup, which will see the national semifinals and championship game take place at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., from Dec. 7-9. Regan is currently in his 15th year as the director of athletics at Holy Cross. Having served as a member of the Men's Division I Soccer Committee for two years before assuming the role of chair this year, he previously served a term on the NCAA Division I Management Council from 1999-2004.

last week, akron had 18 first place votes, 4 for Maryland and 1 for N. Carolina notice that Connecticut dropped from #6 to #7.... and the coaches have Michigan State at 28 and Indiana at 31.... In NCAA draw, Indiana is 16...and Michigan State is #32 and has to play Notre Dame (if Mich. State gets by the vikings of Cleveland State) Coastal Carolina was also not treated well by NCAA coaches have Niagara at #27 and Michigan at #35....will be interested to see how one loss Niagara does against the wolverines NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's - National - Final Regular Season Poll - November 13, 2012 Rank School 1st Votes Total Points Prev. horrible call by the NCAA Geoergetown did not play a good out of league schedule.... and Notre Dame lost to Northwestern.... Northern Illinois defeated Northwestern and Indiana at #16 is a joke....this is not 1990 and Jerry Yeagley is not their head coach... I would love to see Michigan State knock off Notre Dame in the round of 32.... New Mexico has a talented team and could knock off Connecticut.... Coach Porter will have them ready for Niagara-Michigan winner...and they will go from there this team is special....and they are hungry this slap in the face will make them even hungrier.... -

it is a shame that Akron's exhibition win over St. Louis does not count in the RPI.... St. Louis was not highly regarded at the start of the year....but they have had a strong year... will be very interesting to see where Coastal Carolina finishes in the final coaches ranking...and where they are seeded... they are #37 in RPI....and they are much, much better than that
