  1. November 8, 2012 Regan Set To Chair NCAA Men’s Soccer Committee WORCESTER, Mass. – With the start of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament one week away, Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr.'s responsibilities as chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee begin to move into the spotlight this week. This weekend, Regan will be in Indianapolis, Ind., to lead the committee as it selects the 48 men's soccer teams which will take part in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The committee will also be in charge of seeding the top 16 teams in the tournament, constructing the national bracket and selecting the host institution for each contest. The bracket is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Nov. 12, at 5:30 p.m. Regan and the other members of the committee will be responsible for staffing and assigning officials for each game throughout the tournament. The Committee will then oversee all operations for the 2012 NCAA Men's College Cup, which will see the national semifinals and championship game take place at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., from Dec. 7-9. Regan is currently in his 15th year as the director of athletics at Holy Cross. Having served as a member of the Men's Division I Soccer Committee for two years before assuming the role of chair this year, he previously served a term on the NCAA Division I Management Council from 1999-2004.
  2. last week, akron had 18 first place votes, 4 for Maryland and 1 for N. Carolina notice that Connecticut dropped from #6 to #7.... and the coaches have Michigan State at 28 and Indiana at 31.... In NCAA draw, Indiana is 16...and Michigan State is #32 and has to play Notre Dame (if Mich. State gets by the vikings of Cleveland State) Coastal Carolina was also not treated well by NCAA coaches have Niagara at #27 and Michigan at #35....will be interested to see how one loss Niagara does against the wolverines NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's - National - Final Regular Season Poll - November 13, 2012 Rank School 1st Votes Total Points Prev. 3. http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2012-13/.../20121112sp19xj 2 minute and 4 second video with Coach Porter
  4. tweet from Marla Ridenour of the Beacon Journal Having a hard time figuring why UA men's soccer team seeded No. 5 in NCAAs. Had No. 2 RPI behind NDame in last poll on NCAA.com.
  5. connecticut is a top 4 seed...and lost to Providence and had a tie against boston U. not Boston college....boston U.... this Akron team did all the right things this year....on strength of schedule....and the NCAA still did not do the right thing... How can you be a top 4 seed with a loss to a non tournament team and a tie with Boston U?
  6. georgetown had a tie against a horrible Wisconsin team terrible non conference schedule 2012 SCHEDULE Overall 17-3-1 Date Opponent / Event Location Time / Result 08/24/12 vs. Virginia Germantown, Md. 7. horrible call by the NCAA Geoergetown did not play a good out of league schedule.... and Notre Dame lost to Northwestern.... Northern Illinois defeated Northwestern and Indiana at #16 is a joke....this is not 1990 and Jerry Yeagley is not their head coach... I would love to see Michigan State knock off Notre Dame in the round of 32.... New Mexico has a talented team and could knock off Connecticut.... Coach Porter will have them ready for Niagara-Michigan winner...and they will go from there this team is special....and they are hungry this slap in the face will make them even hungrier....
  8. it is a shame that Akron's exhibition win over St. Louis does not count in the RPI.... St. Louis was not highly regarded at the start of the year....but they have had a strong year... will be very interesting to see where Coastal Carolina finishes in the final coaches ranking...and where they are seeded... they are #37 in RPI....and they are much, much better than that
  9. do not want to see Indiana always a very emotional game.... and Zavaleta is a big time goal scorer
  10. MD Zip....I agree completely with you... David, Scott and Chad....unbelievable careers... incredible top notch students.... 5 more wins ...guys... 1 at a time....but you guys are champions Thank you, coach porter for 7 great years...and assembling this group of young men that the entire akron community can be so proud of
  11. winthrop 3 coastal carolina 2 st louis 3 vcu 0 maryland 2 n carolina 1 michigan state 2 michigan 1 ot tulsa 5 smu o
  12. I have been in car all day driving back from visiting my father. I tried to listen to 1350 on my computer in the car...but they had lots of problems did Reinaldo play at all this weekend....will he able to play next weekend? is everyone else healthy? for those that were at the game, how did the zips look? always tough to beat the rugged, physical NIU team
  13. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...update_aid28006 nice summary on conference championships SIU-Edwardsville has had a good year glad to see VCU defeat Charlotte and go, chanticleers
  14. Maryland-UNC game final will be televised on ESPNU at noon on Sunday
  15. N. Carolina's defense must be very good....a win tonight on PK's only 4 goals allowed all year notre dame had impressive win over Connecticut
  16. Coach Porter said Reinaldo and Aodhan were held out of the WMU game with minor ding type injuries Gallego got a little dinged up in WMU game and missed the last 45 minutes
  17. http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2012-13/.../20121108ao9tfa well deserved
  18. Indiana is toast for getting a top 16 seed big ten QF's today Michigan State 2 Indiana 1 Michigan 1 Wisconsin 0 Northwestern leads Ohio State 2-0 at half time I would like to see Mich. State win the tourney....basically anyone other than NW will help Akron in the RPI
  19. coastal carolina ended up winning 5-0 uva and wake in first ot clemson and boston college tied 0-0 after 90 minutes...4 yellow cards for clemson in 2nd half... maryland won....but lots of yellow cards...for both teams UNC held on 1-0
  20. Maryland leads Va Tech 2-1 at 59 minutes...va tech got a red card at 56 minutes n. carolina leads duke 1-0 at 50 minutes wake forest and UVA 2-2 at 60 minutes clemson and boston college 0-0 at half time coastal carolina leads presbyterian 3-0 at 56 minutes
  21. the seeding committee does not have to rely solely on the RPI.... the seeding committee.....knows that Akron would have won at Creighton except for a horrible off side call... the seeding committee....knows that Akron's only loss was due to a red card..... if Akron takes cares of business this weekend, the lowest that they would be seeded is #3...behind big east and acc tourney winner
  22. here is the link http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/1810/NCAADiv...National/Poll11 18 of 23 first place votes
  23. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1...mens_soccer_rpi outstanding news..... Maryland was #2 last week, UCLA #3 and Zips #4....so Maryland and Zips changed spots Notre Dame will face Connecticut Friday night in big East semis...Connecticut defeated them in regular season... UCLA tied Cal last night....probably prevented them from moving up from #3 to #2 If Maryland wins the ACC tourney this weekend, they will move up next week...pull for Wake Forest to win the ACC turney
  24. will NIU be the #2 or #3 seed? Hopefully, UA would only see them in the mac finals
