Notre Dame def. San Diego State 3-2 on friday in Bloomington and def. Clemson 2-1 today in Bloomington Indiana played to a disappointing 0-0 tie today with san diego state BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The stat line shows a game of frustration for the Indiana attack with 29 shots and 19 corner kicks, but no goals to show for it in a 0-0 double overtime tie with San Diego State Sunday afternoon on the final day of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic. The Hoosiers are now 3-0-1 on the season, while San Diego State moves to 0-1-1. Indiana has posted three-straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal over the last 358:25 minutes of play. "The draw was disappointing considering how we played and generating the amount of shots and corners we did against a good San Diego State team," said head coach Todd Yeagley. "The positive is there were a lot of good performances from different players. Creating that many chances, the second ball and our spacing in the box could have been better." Playing in a downpour that had been going steady all day, Indiana jumped on the Aztecs early as freshman Andrew Oliver unfurled a shot on a breakaway that was saved by SDSU goalkeeper Blake Hylen.

beacon article - tuesday at 8:57 pm UA soccer: Caleb Porter reportedly will be named coach of Portland Timbers on Wednesday Published: August 28, 2012 - 08:57 PM Goodbye, Caleb Porter? Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson hinted Tuesday that a news conference announcing the team’s new coach, expected to be University of Akron coach Caleb Porter, would come today, the Oregonian reported. Porter, 37, has coached the Zips since 2006 and won a national title in 2010. That team featured Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe, who won the Hermann Trophy as the nation’s best college player that season. Porter has not returned phone messages from the Beacon Journal.

I sure hope that Coach Porter stays but I wish he and his family the best...whatever his decision is. Coach Porter has been great for the university and the Akron community. Class act.

the zips had a 15 minute stretch in the first half where they were very sloppy. From the opening of the 2nd half to when it was 4-0, they were much more stronger on defense Creighton ended up knocking off N. Illinois 3-1. Huskies scored first about 20 minutes into the 2nd half but Creighton scored 3 in last 25 minutes. That will be a true test next Friday. Everyone is concentrating on Indiana game on Sept. 7....but the Sept. 9 against the Irish could be a challenge. Dukies were badly outplayed last night. http://www.und.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/082512aac.html
