I had read the Beacon article...the night ...that the game was played. they did not have any quotes from Jared... now, they have quotes...so I will post Brad Bournival...does good work on the articles https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2021/03/02/university-akron-soccer-team-defeats-marshall-2-1-overtime/6888513002/ “It was such an exciting feeling,” Shokalook, an Erie, Pennsylvania, product said. “I can’t even describe the emotions right now. I’m really happy for the team. To get our first win at home, I’m very happy for everyone on the Zips team.” “Normally, when we play these games it’s 7 p.m.,” UA coach Jared Embick said. “We’re just happy to be playing whether it’s 4 or 5. We’re getting a chance to compete and develop the players. We haven’t been able to do that in a long time. I think you’re going to see growing pains with it, but it’s great to be playing again.” “For us, this means everything,” Pacheco said. “It’s what we want to do. Sometimes, it won’t be pretty but at the end of the day if we win that’s all that matters. That’s what happened today.” -

https://gozips.com/news/2021/3/2/mens-soccer-shokalooks-golden-goal-lifts-no-7-akron-over-no-9-marshall-2-1.aspx "It was a hard-fought game, and we broke through," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "We were not great in the first half and then when the red card came it changed how the game was going to be played. It was then about whether or not we were going to break down numbers and stay focused on the counter, and sometimes it takes a while, they have a good team, they battled, and we just had to find a way and we did. It is a good feeling for everyone and great win at the end of the day. We were getting frustrated and you could see that at times, and I think that it was important to find some quality and keep sticking with it and just find a play to win a game, that will move this team forward." -

Top Drawer soccer.....says that Marshall at Akron is a top 10 matchup #7 Zips hosting the #9 Thundering Herd https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men Top Drawer soccer has some Marshall players in their preseason upper classmen top 100 Milo Yosef (Aachen)...a forward...is rated #26....pre season 3rd team all american Jamil Roberts (Langport, EN) , a midfielder is rated #42 Top Drawer soccer shows Marshall as 3-0-0 they started with a cupcake... west virginia institute of technology...a 10-1 win for Marshall 8 goals in 2nd 2nd half...the previously mentioned Milo Yosef had 2 goals Jan-Erik Leinhos and Vitor Dias also had 2 goals..and each had one assist in 2nd game , they beat E. Tennessee State 2-0 Vitor Dias scored his 3rd goal of year this past saturday, Marshall defeated a very good Bowling Green 1-0 Leinhos scored his 3rd goal of the year on a PK at 73 minutes Marshall led 14-2 in shots 5-0 in shots on goal and 4-0 in corner kicks quotes from recap https://herdzone.com/news/2021/2/27/mens-soccer-earns-third-straight-shutout-in-win-over-bowling-green.aspx "What a great game," Herd assistant coach Petsa Ivanovic said. "Bowling Green is a very well-organized team, one of the best organized in college soccer. We gave our guys a lot of information on them and they did a good job to execute the game plan. We were so close on a few of those opportunities. If Milo (Yosef) had a little more luck and if Jan-Erik (Leinhos) had a little more luck, then those shots off the crossbar make it in. But, we were able to get the penalty kick with the foul against Jamil (Roberts) and Jan-Erik did a good job to convert. "Looking forward to our next matchup against a very good Akron team on Tuesday." In fall 2019....Marshall had a record of 16-3-3 that included a 2-1 win over Akron (at Marshall) on Sep. 21 they won conference usa tourney with wins over Kentucky and Charlotte they beat MAC champ west virginia 2-1 in first round of ncaa tourney and then they lost to Washington in 2nd round the previously mentioned Jamil Roberts had 2 assists and 1 goal

Kentucky - away game on Thursday Feb. 25

https://gozips.com/news/2021/2/25/mens-soccer-akron-battles-no-12-kentucky-to-a-1-1-2ot-draw.aspx "At the end of the day it is a good result today," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "Our effort and mentality were great today. Kentucky is 7-1 and it is a tough place to play your first meaningful game in nearly 470 days. We are a bit disappointed that we didn't come away with three points, which I thought we deserved. The first half we were excellent and the start of the second half we lost second balls and Kentucky was able to take advantage of a long throw. Overall, I felt we created better chances and at the end of the day, we just have to be more clinical." -
Kentucky - away game on Thursday Feb. 25

really nice to see so many people posting.... Diogo Pacheco was my man of the match. next 2 games against Marshall and Bowling Green are going to be huge. I believe that top drawer soccer has Marshall ranked higher than Kentucky (Marshall 9 ; Kentucky 12) Marshall host Bowling Green this Saturday. That will be an interesting game for the next 2 opponents of the zips. Bowling Green is looking like they are going to be a very tough MAC opener. In exhibition play, Bowling Green defeated Xavier 2-0 (of course, Xavier lost 2-1 in overtime in their regular season opener to Kentucky) in BG's regular season opener, they defeated Dayton 3-2 (Zips played Dayton in an exhibition game) in BG's 2nd game, they went on the road and defeated Syracuse 2-1....beating an ACC team on the road....is not easy after playing Marshall this Saturday, BG will play Kentucky on March 2nd.
