  1. in a preseason poll, only one Men's soccer coach predicted that our beloved zips would win the conference this year https://getsomemaction.com/news/2021/8/25/west-virginia-selected-to-win-2021-mac-mens-soccer-title.aspx
  2. I was thinking that Jonas Buechte is a defensive midfielder https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-di-preseason-best-xi-teams-announced_aid49741 Top Drawer soccer selected Jonas as a defender on their pre season all freshman team. Whatever position that he will play, I am looking forward to seeing Jonas on the pitch and I hope that he can contribute a great deal and help the Zips have a great season.
  3. Mr. Gavin is now working for Mr. Porter (known as Caleb to his friends and family) https://www.massivereport.com/2021/3/9/22321915/columbus-crew-announce-staff-additions-for-2021
  4. Jonathan Lewis was man of the match https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/recap-la-galaxy-1-colorado-rapids-2
  5. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-2021-preseason-top-30-mens-college-soccer-national-poll/ This Zips team....with 13 new comers ......is going to have to prove themselves to the so called soccer experts. The zips did not receive a single vote in the college soccer news top 30. https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/ The zips received 1 point (a 25th place vote) when the US soccer coaches did their pre season poll. The zips will step on the field as decided under dogs in several games this year. Diogo, Jason, Will Jackson, Carlo, Daniel, Dyson, Will Portman, Renato Kauzlaric, Ryan Kingsford, Malik Henry , Tobias Bak . Wan Kuzri, a very talented goal keeper and the 22 other zips are going to have to prove that they are top 25 team to their opponents and the US soccer coaches. That being said, Wright State is a quality team. The zips need a big crowd for the home opener on August 26 and this unproven team needs to get a home win and a road win at E. Lansing. START PROVING IT on Aug 26 and Aug. 29......Soccer Zips. Looking down the road, both polls have last year's college cup semifinalist Pitt ranked at #3. The first article says that Pitt returns 10 out of 11 starters from that high powered offensive team. Not sure when the students return........but the zips marketing department......needs to be working overtime....to get the AK rowdies out in force for that game. Cub Cadet Field at FES.....needs to be packed for that Akron - Pittsburgh game
  6. Jared talks to Chad Welker about the games
  7. Aaron, thanks much for the great info... today was first day that the coaches could work with the 13 new players and 22 returnees
  8. Levi committed to Akron on May 26, 2020. Very belated welcome to Levi. I really look forward to seeing you play in Fall 2022. Levi has trained with the Philadelphia Union academy and he has represented the USA in many international soccer contests.
  9. This was Stefan announcing his soccer commitment to Akron. I believe that Stefan goes to Green High School. Welcome , Stefan.
  10. Earlier this week (before the Anis Smajlovic commitment), top Drawer soccer ranked the zips 2022 recruiting class as 8th best in the country. 2 very highly rated players. Welcome to Levi and Stefan. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/2022-mens-recruiting-rankings:-august_aid49670 8. Akron Commitments: F Stefan Dobrijevic (Internationals SC – No. 83), D Levi Stephens (Internationals SC – No. 84) Only two commitments have reported their decision to join Akron. But with both ranked in the Top 100, it propels Akron to this spot.
  11. This is the zips 3rd recruit for 2022. However, I can't find a topic.....for 2022. I will post this here and I will go back and look for the first 2 recruits Welcome to Anis. PS.....we love top goal scorers !!!

  14. https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/2021 in the transfer topic, the zips nation community had listed 7 spring roster players that had moved on to other schools. From a quick review of the roster, I did not see the names of DeClan Watters and Federico Serra I am really excited to see all of these 13 new players. Go, Zips
  15. https://gozips.com/news/2021/8/6/mens-soccer-akron-unveils-talented-13-member-newcomer-class.aspx
  16. Unrelated to transfers or the 2021 roster....I also liked this tweet from the new AD He has learned quickly about the great Akron soccer tradition nice to see an athletic director excited about the school's sports (yes, Larry the Lawyer....I am taking a shot at you !!!)
  17. my guess is that we will see a news release about our new players on August 10th (the first day that Jared, Ger and Michael can coach the players) Credit to the new athletic director for letting the fans know when the women's coach and men's coaches can work with the players
  18. GK Grant Abbott now showing on transfer list Akron still has highly ranked recruit Mitchell Budler, Will Meyer, Josh Hangi and Cameron Victor Good wishes to Grant at Eastern Illinois https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/2021-ncaa-mens-transfer-tracker_aid48768
  19. the official schedule is out !!!! what does everyone think.....one month and 2 days from now...the first exhibition game 3 of last year's college cup teams on the schedule as promised, lots of home games https://gozips.com/news/2021/7/12/mens-soccer-akron-announces-2021-mens-soccer-schedule.aspx
  20. I am very impressed by the new athletic director... one...he is on social media two....he is promoting zips soccer three....he tells us the date for the zips regular season opener thank you....Charles Guthrie Home: August 15 - Xavier (Exhibition) 5 pm (Sunday) August 26 - Wright State (regular season opener) 7 pm (Thursday) September 10 - Indiana 7 pm (Friday) October 7 - Georgia Southern* 7 pm (Thursday) October 13 - Penn State TBA (Wednesday) October 23 - Bowling Green * (Saturday) TBA - one additional MAC home game * Away: September 15 - at Ohio State 7 pm (Wednesday) September 21 - at Marshall 7 pm (Tuesday) September 30 - At West Virginia * (Thursday) TBA - at 2 MAC road games * *MAC

  22. BGSU released their schedule today... they play at Akron on October 23...which is not the reverse of what happened in 2019 if I am reading the BG schedule correctly, they host Georgia State on October 7 and Georgia Southern on October 9 we know that Akron hosts Georgia Southern on October 7.....Will Georgia State want to stay in Ohio and play the zips on October 9 or October 10? personally, I do not like having only 2 days between matches (not enough time for the players to recover). Also, the zips have a tough home game on October 13 (3 matches in 6 day period ...will lead to injuries.) with Covid still in the picture, I am very surprised to see BGSU traveling across the country to play Gonzaga. https://bgsufalcons.com/news/2021/7/2/mens-soccer-defending-mac-champions-announce-2021-schedule.aspx Home: August 15 - Xavier (Exhibition) 5 pm (Sunday) September 10 - Indiana 7 pm (Friday) October 7 - Georgia Southern* 7 pm (Thursday) October 13 - Penn State TBA (Wednesday) October 23 - Bowling Green * (Saturday) TBA - one additional MAC home game * Away: September 15 - at Ohio State 7 pm (Wednesday) September 21 - at Marshall 7 pm (Tuesday) TBA - at 3 MAC road games * *MAC
