Wright State will be a high quality opponent in the season opener. Wright State had an excellent team in 2019. Wright State won the Horizon League tournament in 2019. In the first round of the 2019 NCAA, Wright State defeated Notre Dame (of the ACC) 3-2 in the 2nd round, Wright State had to travel to Ann Arbor to face number 13 seed Michigan. After 2 overtimes., Michigan and Wright State had played to a scoreless draw. Michigan ended up advancing on penalty kicks. Go, Zips !!!

Whatever position that he will play, I am looking forward to seeing Jonas on the pitch and I hope that he can contribute a great deal and help the Zips have a great season.

The zips will step on the field as decided under dogs in several games this year. Diogo, Jason, Will Jackson, Carlo, Daniel, Dyson, Will Portman, Renato Kauzlaric, Ryan Kingsford, Malik Henry , Tobias Bak . Wan Kuzri, a very talented goal keeper and the 22 other zips are going to have to prove that they are top 25 team to their opponents and the US soccer coaches. That being said, Wright State is a quality team. The zips need a big crowd for the home opener on August 26 and this unproven team needs to get a home win and a road win at E. Lansing. START PROVING IT on Aug 26 and Aug. 29......Soccer Zips. Looking down the road, both polls have last year's college cup semifinalist Pitt ranked at #3. The first article says that Pitt returns 10 out of 11 starters from that high powered offensive team. Not sure when the students return........but the zips marketing department......needs to be working overtime....to get the AK rowdies out in force for that game. Levi committed to Akron on May 26, 2020. Very belated welcome to Levi. I really look forward to seeing you play in Fall 2022. Levi has trained with the Philadelphia Union academy and he has represented the USA in many international soccer contests.

Earlier this week (before the Anis Smajlovic commitment), top Drawer soccer ranked the zips 2022 recruiting class as 8th best in the country. 2 very highly rated players. Unrelated to transfers or the 2021 roster....I also liked this tweet from the new AD He has learned quickly about the great Akron soccer tradition nice to see an athletic director excited about the school's sports (yes, Larry the Lawyer....I am taking a shot at you !!!)

my guess is that we will see a news release about our new players on August 10th (the first day that Jared, Ger and Michael can coach the players) Credit to the new athletic director for letting the fans know when the women's coach and men's coaches can work with the players
