After a loss to our rival Akron is now 1-7 and our only win was against a FCS Cupcake folks on here applaud us playing vs playing a Power 5.

Didn't watch any of the game. Been out of town actually in Westerville OH from Maryland watching my son play football. Saw the final score and smh I dunno what to look forward to against our rival who a few weeks back went toe to toe with the #1 team the nation.

Big Ten brought in Maryland and Rutgers strictly for Big Ten TV network and TV contract purposes as their regions MD and NY/NJ are unclaimed in regards to fanbases. They could care less how those schools perform. They care more about eyeballs on TV sets and already made bank on their investment in regards to getting the TV deal that now gives each conference school $100 mil a year.

I don't knock Ohio State as they are the big brother. The real problem is how fans and schools continue to allow everyone else to be inferior to them. Tired of seeing students wear Ohio State merch on Akron's campus for example, how about focus more on making merch readily available. I can't buy a Akron Football jersey right now if I wanted to without buying one on ebay from student athletes illegally selling them. We have a team shop with No Bleepin Jerseys

A conference known for playing cupcakes in regards to their out of conference schedule because their conference play is soooooooo brutal, That will never happen.

We are a losing program. Winning solves just about most of what you are implying. And overall its not just about winning, Its about building up a program to be able to compete in and out of conference which we have been unable to do since we previously hired a mediocre privileged coach who had an average record at Chattanooga. I dunno your age but I am age 42 and Graduated in 2006. Dating back to 2001 when I transferred to UA I remember every big Non Conference Game in both football and basketball. I remember us upsetting Marshall who pretty much had one foot out the door leaving the MAC for Conference USA the following year on Jason Taylor night which was a nationally televised game on ESPN at the Rubber Bowl in 2004 and us actually having a Heisman campaign for Charlie Frye. I remember Dennis Kennedy scoring the game winning touchdown against Chuck Amato's NC State in 2006 and Coach J. D. Brookhart being interviewed about it the next day on ESPN's top rated show (Cold Pizza). I remember us having Michigan in the red zone with a chance to win on the last play in 2013. Having the lead with 3.2 seconds left against Ohio State in hoops. Playing UNC (hoops) in Chapel Hill. Being huddled with co workers behind the front desk at the Zips Rec Center watching Akron play Penn State. I remember many of us believing we had a solid shot against Nebraska in 2018 prime time under the lights on ESPN. Game canceled due to lightning and then us going on to upset Northwestern 2 wks later. Win or lose those games matter to my generation. The notoriety that as a proud Alum I can say hey that's my school on tv playing the big dogs. And lets be clear here. I live in the Maryland DC area. Ask any random person what's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of for example Ohio State. Majority will say football. Outside of Ohio the average Joe does not even know The University of Akron exist and ask what's the first thing that comes to mind? they will most likely say Lebron. So yes seeing my school getting any national coverage on tv outside of the MAC is a positive across the board. As a proud Alum I will always believe we can build up this program to compete with anybody and will Never concede to lowering the bar of success to FCS. The day that happens is the day the program loses me.

Its like folks take pride in wanting the program to go underground and be irrelevant Not understanding marketing and how bills get paid Taking pride in wanting college football to basically be segregated. Fact is the past few weeks they were more eyeballs on Akron playing Power 5's than there will be on ANY MAC Conference game this season. But I guess folks rather see us play St Francis PA.

Exposure to compete and showcase our school on a national stage should always be the answer. If not then we are nothing more than a intramural program draining money

Until Moorhead gets a Power 5 and Bowl win don't compare him to Bowden

Kent State's performance last week against the #1 team in the nation is a prime example why I want to see Akron compete against as many Power 5's as they can schedule. Why? Because Kent's play last week pumped up their program on and off the field. It got the Nation talking bringing more eyeballs and $$$$ to their program I bet.

As of now I would just be happy seeing the stadium sell out period regardless if there are 99.9% Kentucky fans

Defense gave up too many big plays. Special Teams was mediocre and receivers drop wide open passes. Pathetic clock management also

Had great momentum going into the 4th only for Special teams and Defense to let us down.

Going into the half the defense made a great stand only for our special teams to try to field a punt inside the damn 5 yd line. And then we do a pee poor job managing the clock on the last drive going into the half with 2 timeouts in our pocket. Aside from the Pick 6 Dj has been playing well. He has thrown some great balls but too bad his receivers are failing him.
