Your link brought to mind an old/new poster - I wonder what NewZipsFan has to say about this?

Whether Darrell Bowie plays or not (questionable) for NIU will probably make a big difference in this game. He hasn't played since the 2nd of January. It'll be interesting to see how Deji performs in front of his close friends and family. I suspect with the way he's handled himself lately, he'll have another fine showing and not let his emotions get the better of him. If he ends up being player of the game in Dekalb, he'll have trouble matching his quote from the interview with French and Dunn earlier in the season: "I wish I was as tall as my arms" - love it! I'll go Zips 72 Huskies 69

Zips Pigskin Pulse
johnnyzip84 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I would have been throwing to him more as well, but he did comfortably lead the team with 62 receptions last year for a team high 658 yards. He was certainly the "go to" guy, but the better defenses were more successful at taking him away. After hearing a few days ago of his intentions, I was pretty concerned who might fill his role. Nobody currently on the roster seems like a good fit. That's why I'm hopeful McNeil will commit. Getting back to your original point, it's hard for me to project any tendencies with the Zip 2015 offense until I know who is pulling the trigger, -

Nice work, CK! I sure hope TE Josh McNeil signs. I think the Zips could use some help working the middle of the field in 2015. I'm also wondering if Bryce Jones from BC has graduated or not (would affect his eligibility in 2015, of course). -
Everyone know it was really Big Ben who pulled this one off. Right K92?
-
Here's a little stats spiced with (hopefully) some humor. Who averaged 15.5 PPG in the last 2 games with a standard deviation of 21.9?

I'm starting to wonder if I might be Captain Obvious.....

As I've mentioned before, the Zips really need to hold serve at home since true road games are shaping up to be particularly challenging this year. Neither WMU nor BGSU have guards who handle ball pressure very well. CMU is a different animal with Fowler (#15) and Simmons (#4) both having excellent assist-to-turnover ratios. Several Chips can shoot the three, but Simons (#34 - 51.4%) and Kozinski (#12 - 45.6%) are especially lethal. This is the game where FT shooting and late game decisions will be paramount. I think Noah and company are up to the challenge: Zips 76 Chips 74

The 2015 Football Commitment List
johnnyzip84 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Hmmm another Wazzu linebacker transfers in (after Mizell). Hopefully, he and his family will be healthy this year and he can focus on football. He looks like a nice addition, especially with March and Mizell moving on. I know the staff has Colorado State connections that explain all the CSU transfers, but this must just be a coincidence. -
I suppose I was a little short and perhaps vague with my comment. The basic issue (in the past) has been that the Z-Fund owns responsibility for determining parking priority, while IMG has been responsibility for distributing parking passes (along with game tickets). All too often, the correct parking lot information somehow did not get communicated to IMG and you’d receive incorrect parking passes. And if you asked your IMG agent about it, the response would be something along the lines of “the Z-Fund handles that”. Season ticket holders should not be given the run around like that. Hopefully, the Z-Fund and IMG can work these things out before tickets and passes are distributed this year.
-
When you're selected as tailgater of the game, you should be recognized on the scoreboard! Continue to bring the cheerleaders through Lot 9. That has been a positive experience all around. Maybe the band can come through as well? Eliminate the frequent miscommunications between the Z-Fund and IMG. In my opinion, that is where all the trouble starts with fans receiving the wrong parking passes.

I'll only comment on the content of the video, since Dr Z has already hit on the technical aspects. This seems to be geared to recruits, with all of the focus on the capability of the coaching staff. Listing all the NFL players who were ever coached by any of these guys seemed a little over the top to me, but it's probably not a bad strategy if trying to appeal to a high school player. In the same vain, discussing TB's career at Auburn may still have merit. But I, for one, am tired of hearing about it. The only time I want to hear Auburn mentioned from now on is if we're on their schedule or if we're getting one of their players via transfer

BG @ Akron.... Buckle up, it's Orr no more
johnnyzip84 replied to The Hip Zip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
While it was a nice win and the home defense against MAC teams continues to excel, I certainly hope the Zips work to correct the mistakes they made in terms of breaking the press and also securing the ball after rebounds. 17 turnovers will usually be an issue. It was great to see Noah continue to hit FTs down the stretch, as this will be an important part of his game in the close MAC contests that will surely occur at some point this season. In fact, Saturday night is shaping up to be one of those occasions. Go Zips!!! Z-I..... -
After thinking about it some, it was either Hang on Sloopy or the OSU fight song. Either way, it was ridiculous to hear at a Zip outing. I don't expect that Peterson will get a very warm reception at the Info next year.
-
I wanted a mulligan on this just as soon as I saw that butt-munch and his foursome playing Hang on Sloopy at the ZIP golf outing last summer. Now after watching his less than stellar work with the O-Line this year, I'm glad he's gone. I know some ex-Zip linemen who were pissed when he left for Miami the 1st time. Good luck with that guy, Pitt. Ten bucks says he never learns "Hail to Pitt".

That's bascially how I took it as well: UA athletics raising the white flag. Perhaps it's the most pragmatic approach, but it still sickens me.
-
I'm not sure why it took so long for me to take a look at his Ashland stats, but it does make me wonder if ITZ may have a point regarding Chapman. I know several fans, whose opinions I respect, were impressed with his physical skills during spring ball last year. But there's no hiding the fact that he did not exactly dominate the GLIAC in his limited appearances for LO's Eagles. The QB situation is going to make for an intriguing spring camp in 2015, that's for sure.
-
I agree that a 1-3 OOC record is the most likely at this point. Pitt also will have Tyler Boyd back at WR and they have a good recruiting class lined up. The MAC game DATES have not been announced yet, so don't pay attention to the order shown in this thread thus far.

I had to go over that game again at lunch - I had forgotten how much we had no business winning that one That result exemplified Doogie Martin's coaching prowess in a nutshell.
-
I remember it well - too well But I also remember Bowser's exceptional TD reception and the Rowdies getting inside K.E.N.T's PK to clinch the W. That may have been the Rowdies' finest hour in terms of influencing the outcome of a football game.

Calling the 2015 MAC slate a mulligan is the perfect analogy. If at first you can’t take advantage of the easiest conference schedule ever handed to you by the MAC, try, try again! I don’t have a real strong opinion as to whether I like to see easier crossover opponents or not, but I am sort of glad we’ll get to play UMass in their MAC swan song (though I’m not so sure Whipple, assuming he can find a QB he hasn’t sired to take the majority of snaps for the Minutemen, won’t have them playing decent ball in 2015). As had been said even before the schedule came out, 2015 is the year to put up or shut up. The apparently easy MAC schedule simply reinforces this. Here are my expectations for 2015: Develop some young O-linemen – Osborn is the only Bowden HS recruit who has played significant minutes to date. Be aggressive and STAY aggressive on defense – Guys like Brown, Lane, Marcus etc. are best suited to disrupt plays. After the 10-sack Miami game, Amato seemed to pull in the reins after getting burned once or twice. Stick to your guns. Establish a feature RB, whether it’s Alexander, Hundley, Jones or someone else. Identify a WR who can stretch the field – whether it’s MTB, Wolf, Means or someone else. D’Orazio will be even more effective working the middle of the field if this occurs. Take advantage of your special teams – they should be among the MAC’s best. Get the QB question answered in the Spring – if a change is coming, especially if it entails some tweaks in offensive philosophy (a la Malzahn), I’d want the new guy to have as much time as possible to establish a rapport with his teammates. Finish the season strong – this is the biggest difference in the way we, as fans, feel in general about the 2013 season versus the 2014 season. Make me hopeful for 2016 and beyond!

Dear AiA, Perhaps you can take some solace in the words of Robert Frost: The Road Not TakenTwo roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

WMU could not deal with the speed and quickness of our guards. The Zips consitently prevented them from smoothly setting up or running their half court offense. The Broncos haven't has a true point guard since , and now the Zips have the type of team to expose that weakness.

I'd say it was around 7,500 - and the balmy weather probably helped. It's crazy (but not too uncommon) that in one week's time Buffalo's weather went from low 60's (evening of game) to 5 feet of snow.
-
I was thinking about 250, K92 - it's always hard to figure home many are high up and out of the elements in games at the Info. Of the folks who were actually out there in the cold, it couldn't have been more than 300.
