  1. Hold everything. The PAC-12 decides that Texas and its Longhorn Network are too much trouble. So maybe TCU goes to the Big 12 (10)? Will the ACC stop at 14? There are still a lot of TBDs.
  2. I'm more concerned about ONE much older guy who will also be on the VMI sidelines. Sparky is one of the most experienced coaches in all of college football. It presents quite a contrast on Saturday.
  3. Or Pete Cordelli (the similarities are striking)
  4. Thanks for the detailed report, gz19! You mentioned a lot of the same FR who were making some plays out there as Frenchy. I just listened to Zips live just now, and I hadn't realized that Ford got the start at safety. I like the way he hits. Can you comment on Isaiah Williams' play in the 2nd half? Does he get any pressure on the QB?Sounds like Octoberfest in Cincy is a lot of fun. I'll have to try it sometime
  5. What do you expect the line to be? No line as of yet.Zips by 10.There are no lines on games involving an FCS school, correct? This is an interesting question. That definitely used to be the case. But last year I am sure I saw lines involving FBS/FCS matchups. This year I'm not seeing them.
  6. I'll second Dr Z.....but I'll add that the game must be won in regulation!
  7. "Far" & "good" are relative terms, so technically I guess you are probably correct. I may have my sights set too high....are you hallucinating nonexistent posts, Dr Z?My spider sense tells me it's the post of a yet-to-be-approved member.
  8. Not surprised in the least. I'll say it again. The enormous stickling point will be deciding who gets in the 4x14 or 4x16 matrix. This is why we're seeing the recent upheaval.
  9. It's a done deal. Pitt & 'Cuse are accepted by ACC.So will we host our 1st ever ACC football opponent in 2015?
  10. This is a simple game prediction for me. If the Zips are at least even in the turnover department, they'll win by a couple of TDs. I think they'll still win if they're -1 in turnovers. Anything worse than that and a 2nd nightmare FCS loss could occur.I'm as disgusted as any by the outcome of these 1st 3 games. But as additional results begin to pour in during this young season (Temple gives PSU all they can handle, FIU beats UCF, Ohio U is crushing Marshall), it's becoming apparent to me that this schedule may be the most difficult in Zip D-1/FBS history. It's not an excuse. It's just an observation. That being said, I do think this is a must win for Ianello. Recruiting is already going to be a tough enough road as it is.
  11. Price caught this TD. I think there must be some sort of conspiracy theory. What do you think akron_football?
  12. Moore to Sconiers.....TD!Got to hand it to Frenchy......he called the TD with almost as much enthusiasm as he would in a tight game.
  13. Comeback!
  14. Wardrobe malfunction: The Red Shirts are coming off like crazy.
  15. The Wayne St Warriors win a big one for HC Paul Winters, in a 27-10 defeat of #22 Michigan Tech.
  16. 1st half total yards:UC 231UA 1661st half score:UC 49UA 0 :wall: :wall: :wall:
  17. And EMU up on Michigan early 3-0.
  18. The Owls are starting strong against the bully of Penn's Woods. Bernard Price......errrr Pierce in for an early 7-0 lead.Former CMU LB Ray Bentley is a horrible color analyst.
  19. Andy WillsThanks! Sort of goes well with Billy Mills
  20. Article on Bearcat QB Zach Collaros. It's a painful reminder of how close we came to beating Brian Kelly and the Bearcats in 2008.Although his recollection on Frye winning the MAC championship is a bit off, it does indicate that he followed the Zips for a while because of his cousin (still trying to recall who was the center on those Zip teams). I remember seeing Zach play for Steubenville against Northwest in the state playoffs in Massillon. I wonder why the Zips never pursued him?
  21. Article on TY Hilton, a big reason behind the success FIU is having.
  22. Pitt and Syracuse reportedly apply for ACC membership
  23. Thanks for the info! Nobody can scream weak schedule this year.
  24. I'm not in either camp because I haven't seen a good, thorough analysis of which strategy has the best success rate. If there was solid data supporting the fact that the success rate of lower level college head coaches moving to a higher level was much higher than higher level assistants moving to head coaching positions, I'd be more inclined to lean that way.Obviously there are successful and unsuccessful examples of each. Ultimately you have to thoroughly analyze the individual candidates and weigh that along with the factor of which camp tends to have the higher percentage of success. That would be an enormous undertaking to say the least. If you're volunteering, here's a data point to follow Of course either approach is a crap shoot. I like the idea that a head coach in a lower division at least was forced at one time to make all of the key decisions for a (presumably) successful program. I'm also more prone to consider the guy who doesn't merely take the reigns for a team that has already established a consistent level of success. The coach who takes nothing (or very little) and makes something out of it (Leavitt, Golden, Winters, Cristobal, Edsell, etc.) are the ones who impress me the most. But it's only my opinion. I wish there was a study out there on this subject. With all of the money riding on these hires, you sure think there would be.
  25. You bring up a good point about Golden's much more extensive qualifications. Still, his early period at Temple is among the worst in recent memory. Why couldn't we have scheduled Memphis this year? We OWE them!!
