Dayton was also MAULED over the weekend in Cincy by the Bearcats 68-34. It's a strange game. You have to wonder if Alex's ankle hadn't been hurt just before the CSU game how much of a difference that may have made against the Vikes. Great effort last night guys! Go Zips!

Actually NIU rejoined the MAC with Marshall (also rejoined) and Buffalo (new member) in 1997. Source CK modification -- Northern Illinois re-entered at roughly the same time Akron entered the MAC... now they are #1 in football. Note - I intended to reply to this segment of your original post. However, I was in "Edit Mode" and accidentally erased everything else. Sorry about that. No problem! I was just making the point that maybe we (the MAC) should see how serious UMass is about wanting to move up to FBS. NCAA rules now dictate that an FCS team wanting to make the jump to FBS must 1st receive an invite from an FBS conference. The MAC actually has some leverage for once and I'd like to see them play hardball, at least from an initial negotiating position. Maybe it's far fetched to think UMass would enter for all sports. BUT if their ultimate goal is getting in the Big East, what would be the harm (from UMass' perspective) in dominating MAC hoops for a few years before that opportunity arises?

Careful. Remember,G-W. I don't think anyone here is trying to imply an automatic win over the FCS team on the 2011 schedule. We're merely trying determine which FCS team that might be. I'm sure the vast majority realize UMass would represent a much more challenging opponent than G-Webb.

Actually, "Mid Atlantic Conference" sort of has a nice ring to it. Maybe that's what we can call the conference we wind up in after we blow up the MAC? ECU Marshall Miami Ohio Akron Buffalo Toledo UMass Temple

I thought I heard we were playing VMI?

I'm not a big fan of this unless it's for all sports. By the time this MIGHT occur, Temple could very well be on their way to C-USA leaving the MAC right back at square one.

With our luck, Minny's point guard will be back at full strength when the Zips visit. UVa managed to hold it's own inside and force the Gophers to make shots - they couldn't.

Looks like my "kiss of death" is still going strong! Minny now struggling to simply keep the lead!

Watching Minnesota play again tonight, this time against "just plain" Virginia I know UVa isn't that good right now, but wow the Gophers sure look good. They impressed me a lot on a neutral floor, but playing them in Minneapolis seems to be just that much more difficult. I honestly think they deserve some consideration as being perhaps the best team in the country. Edit: Of course, just after I write this I may be seeing a "chink in their armor".......defending the 3-ball. UVa's Farrakhan (Louis' grandson) has not been stopped thus far from long range.

Here's one player who seems to be indicating some positives towards the end of the season.

TCU to join Big East I know there have been rumors for a while, but I really didn't think this one would happen. It's got to be extremely hard on the other sports.
