  1. I agree with you. BUT the newly discovered 1 TRILLION in mineral wealth may have a lot to do with it. Terrific, just what we'd need - another unstable Middle Eastern country that hates us and has a ton of money. Great. I hear what you're saying, but if AFG "gets" to be as rich as Bolivia, I'm not sure that would be too much to worry about
  2. Who killed Kenny? The 2005 MCB is ancient history to #'s 1 and 3
  3. Nice find, Cap'n Thank you! I guess it would have helped to have read the article! No problem! I know for myself there are times when I can't access the links, so I thought maybe that was the case here for you.
  4. That was pretty funny. He was still "feelin' it" because of his (correct) Jeremy LaFrance predictions!
  5. +1 I didn't like the hire, but I'm also willing to admit that I'm just a clueless fan for the most part. If you recall, Syracuse ran into a severe numbers problem not long after Marrone arrived as well. Let's see what happens over the last two games and heading into next year. I'll say this. For the most part, the freshmen he has brought in (Holmes, Russell, Hall, Sconiers, Bailey) have all shown SOME promise over the course of the year. I just wish Georgio had decided to stick around.
  6. Here’s my take on the possibility of Nik leaving after this year to give it a go in Europe. I know when I was pretty close to his age, if I had a concrete goal in front of me that made a world of difference in both my focus and motivation. This season’s early reports seem to indicate that his play has improved considerably. I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that this improvement might largely be attributed to his having established a clear personal goal for this season. After all, his chances to catch on somewhere at the next level would be greatly enhanced by a standout final season at UA. Not that what I desire matters, but if we can really get one season of Nik playing to his full potential, I’m willing to surrender his 4th year of eligibility in return (because if he does reach it this year, the team has a chance to be outstanding). Plus, we have a lot of interesting prospects coming in at forward over the next few seasons.
  7. This is a minor point, but am I the only one who watched this on channel surfing who thought French's call was mis-leading on this play? There were 3 video angles on replay and I don't think any of them showed Wagner intentially trying to intercept the ball. I'm sure Brian wishes he had made a better play on the ball, but it looked to me as though he simply came up a little short. French's call made it seem like it was John Fuller Part Deux during Big Ben's 75 yard game winning TD in Oxford. It clearly wasn't. I still love Frenchy, but he can be lost sometimes.
  8. PN7 fumbled snap on 4th down and less than 1 inside BSU territory leads to a huge momentum changing BSU TD pass on the very next play
  9. I've got Frenchy on 1350 am website, ESPN gametracker and video from channelsurfing going. Hope the injured BSU LB is OK.
  10. Nice find, Zach. There are some interesting quotes in there. I sure hope this is true. I'm not giving up complete hope until I see the guys he brings in with this next class.
  11. Stay with me on this one. If you look over the course of the season, this team obviously hasn't had many positives. But what is interesting to me is that the vast majority of the glimmers of hope have occurred on the road. I think this particular team is more comfortable away from home for whatever reason. Ball St has one pretty good pass rusher. If the Zips can keep him from going off, I think this could be the week. Get your zuit suits ready! Zips 27 Cards 24
  12. If we DO manage to finish strong, our theme song will be this.
  13. I liked the part about playing "crispy." Is it KFC night? Nah, that was the scrimmage last weekend against The Colonels
  14. KD said on the radio show that John Carroll has given Cleveland St some tough games recently.
  15. Quickzips on top of page 3.
  16. East Lansing weather is 44 degrees currently, so I'd say Mattocks is settling my fears about his play in colder weather!
  17. I'm not sure that he was commenting on the receiving corps as much as lamenting the lack of time he has had to develop some of the guys who will NOT see the field this year. He keeps complaining about a lack of numbers, and how the players have to "service" themselves......whatever that means. Forgot to mention that iCoach complained some about THIS.
  18. The two big concerns for me are: 1) Kofi's health 2) 2nd half schedule reliance on Mattocks for the bulk of the scoring. How will a Jamaican like playing in the colder temps? I guess we'll see. Maybe he and Tulloch can draw inspiration from THESE guys
  19. At least we WON our share of games at the Rubber Bowl! I have a horrible Info/Losing association going on right now.
  20. Oooops....Zipboy seems to have hit on all of the SALIENT points
  21. 1. Starters are McNees, Roberts, the Nitro Net Nuker, Nicola, and Zeke. 2. Abreu will also play some guard. 3. Bardo is has improved. 4. Nicola is playing the best of the big men. 5. Zeke has improved by 50%. Last year they were afraid of working the ball through him on offense. This year they plan to do it ALL of the time. 6. B McKnight will back up both 3 and 4. 7. He thinks the schedule is much harder this year. He mentioned Minnesota, Dayton, U of Miami, and Temple as potential top 25 teams. He thinks Detroit will be very good with Ray McCallum’s signed to play there.
  22. 1. They’ll be using the extra time between Ball St. and Miami to try to develop some of the red shirts. He cited Shrock, Chisolm, Suel (JC guy red shirts?.....must have been injured?), Micah Lio and I believe LT Smith by name. I assume this means they’d get some practice time with the 1st units. 2. They’ll also be doing some recruiting during this break between games. He referenced some new NCAA rule that allows for this. 3. He indicated LaFrance and Weber would probably be back for Miami. 4. He mentioned Brian Wagner quite a bit, pointing out his efforts on special teams as well. He said “the best thing about Brian is that he’s a sophomore”.
  23. Big East rumblings Villanova must still be mulling over their standing offer to upgrade to FCS. UCF and TCU seem to be the favorites. Big Sky adds Southern Utah, North Dakota, and possibly South Dakota It's weird that the 4 Dakota schools will now be "paired" in the Big Sky and the Missouri Valley. Maybe this is a preemptive move in case Montana bolts for the WAC.
  24. I agree. F D'Aundray Brown.
