  1. I appreciate the explanation! Thanks for the resources you, and all of the mods, put into this site
  2. The oddsmakers don't give the Zips much of a chance. I'll save my prediction for later, but let's just say I have a funny feeling about this one (I can take the abuse). Ball St. opens as 13.5 point favorites.
  3. PN7 was 15 of 26 for 134 yards with 1 interception. Don't know how many sacks, but he had -26 yards on 10 "rushes." As a team, Zips had a grand total of 20 rushing yards in 28 attempts for a rushing average of .7 yards. The punting game was pretty decent. 1) THIRTEEN of those 15 completions were to TRUE FRESHMEN. 2) Temple did not run effectively until the game was WELL out of hand.
  4. Not so fast, says Nanchoff!
  5. Defense still playing with a LOT of heart.
  6. Nice 1st down pass conversion from Potts to Sconiers! Check that might have been Nicely.....Temple announcers getting on UA coaches for not going for it on 4th down.
  7. Thanks! After having listened to most of the 1st half, I don't think there's any question about the Zips effort today especially on defense. It's too bad we didn't capitalize on the turnover prior to halftime. Let's see if the effort can continue in the 2nd half. Also, nice to see Richard Hall being used with 4 catches at the half. Go Zips!!
  8. This story seems to confirm Cole's having changed his mind, verballing to Clemson after de-committing from Wyoming. I realize that committing and de-committing has become commonplace these days, but IIRC Cole only committed to WYOMING a few weeks ago (at the most). Makes you wonder how many voices both Cole and Zack have to hear while trying to make their choices.
  9. Cole has already committed to Wyoming. Well, now Scout and Rivals say Cole's going to Clemson after it was widely reported he was going to Wyoming. Sounds like he doesn't know what he wants. Hopefully Zack doesn't get blinded by his desire to play with his brother and verbal somewhere he doesn't really want to go. Or maybe Cole is trying to escape his brother's shadow and go to a school that hasn't offered Zack. I'll admit I got pretty confused trying to research Cole's decision. I wonder if their Dad would be upset if either were to wind up being a Zip?
  10. Here is a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article on Zack. Interestingly, he cites playing time and a desire to go to the same school as his brother as high priorities. Younger brother Cole now has at least 9 offers in addition to Akron's, including 3 from "BCS" schools.
  11. I saw that same login a few nights ago, too. Glad you captured it. Pretty funny
  12. This is my favorite quote from the article. If this thing can be turned around, it's going to take a lot of perseverance and resolve. I look forward to seeing Cody on the field.
  13. So you LIKE the under, huh? Gotta try to have a little fun with this, right?
  14. The line has steadily crept up from 27.5 at the beginning of the week to 29.5 currently. The over/under is at 48.5 which seems awfully low. Owls 48 Zips 17 Prove me wrong, Zips! Go Zips!
  15. Edit: WMU and Buffalo are both looking good, with the winner of FAU-BGSU probably getting the 4th spot. It's crazy how NIU finds themselves eliminated (thanks Yaz!) when they've only lost twice outside of league play (at Washington 1-0, and at home to Oregon St. 2-1) and won at both Wisconsin (2-1) and Northwestern (2-0)!
  16. BUMP. An interesting, and completely hypothetical, take on possible MAC expansion. I must admit, I like the geographical footprint of this idea.
  17. I’ll preface this by saying I have complete faith in Caleb’s coaching ability and tactics. But am I the only one who wondered last night why, on 3 or 4 occasions, our forwards allowed Creighton’s keeper to casually dribble the ball pretty far out of the box without even token pressure? This effectively led to several free kicks taken from a spot not too far from mid-field, and the last one nearly cost us. Any team, no matter how skillful, can be vulnerable in the air. I hope we don’t see much of that any more.
  18. Creighton anticipated our passes MUCH better than any opponent thus far. They are a talented, well-coached team. It wouldn't break my heart to not see them again this year. BUT, I DO hope we get a game in Omaha on the schedule sometime soon. As pointed out by another poster recently, that Morrison Stadium is one fine college soccer facility!
  19. Looks like the folks in Omaha will get to watch it as well. The weather should be pretty decent. Creighton hasn't lost a regular season road game since 2006. Let's put an end to that Zips!
  20. You guys aren't going to believe this, but I have a button on my frige.... I have a yard sign and a bumper sticker (never used).
  21. It’s might be me who 72_Roo is mistaking for an iCoach apologist. He may be referring to my post regarding how I see the Buffalo game as being important in recruiting. If you check my posts, I haven’t hid my displeasure in this hire from the beginning. But I’m not naïve enough to think he’s going away anytime soon. Short of some off the field shenanigans, he’ll get at least three years here. There is no way he voluntarily steps aside because that would be career suicide. It’s true that I haven’t seen much yet in his COACHING abilities that has impressed. While it may be slim, I see the only hope of a turnaround under iCoach occurring from an influx of new talent to combine with the few “diamonds in the rough” currently on the roster. If this is baseless hope, I can live with it. The only other choice I have is to take a sabbatical from Zips football, and that’s just not going to happen. It’s no less realistic than expecting iCoach to be fired before he gets at least 3 years, regardless of fan disgruntlement.
  22. Sure could. But the silver lining on that cloud is..........Buffalo is Beatable I agree 100%, Skip. And I think it's worth mentioning the importance of trying to get at least one W in these last 4 games, no matter how dismal that prospect may seem right now. I see on another thread that iCoach has just landed a nice DC area prospect. I believe it would make recruiting a WHOLE lot easier if he can point to some level of improvement at the end of THIS season. The opportunity to come in and play right away at a terrific facility becomes far more appealing if the recruiter can spin 2010 as truly being the bottom of the valley. An 0-12 record is considerably more difficult to sell in that way. It may seem like a minor difference between 0-12 and 1-11 (for instance), but if a win (or one of the wins) comes against the Bulls, the timing would be most beneficial, both for recruiting and for the confidence of the current players who elect to stay with the program.
  23. Alleman had a personal engagement already committed to before he got the job. He should be back next week. Luckily I missed the game last week. I too am going to think hard about coming down for the last 2 games. Good Zips Live show, they talked a half hour about the coaches bios. I learned a lot about how things are going to be turned around. Was that a complete waste of time or what? Why didn't Morgan come here asking for more questions for iCoach??
  24. Here is an interesting article on its origins. I just wish we would hear it being played a little more often these days This reminds me of a game against Central Michigan I saw towards the end of the Faust era. I believe the final score was 35-0 Chips, and it got so bad that the UA band ended up resorting to playing the fight song after touchdowns scored by CENTRAL! I took a buddy with me that day and he got the biggest kick out of that.
