  1. Hmmmm do you ever run into Rob Petrie?
  2. Guards - C Abreu’s injury, Nitro’s struggles, and Gilliam’s lack of playing time have all conspired to prevent the Zips from having a stellar 1st half of the season. Q obviously isn’t the 1st choice at PG, but I respect him for sacrificing the finer points of his game for the sake of the team. The good news is, there is no reason why this group can’t play much better in the 2nd half of the season and down the stretch. Forwards - A Have to agree with Zach on this as this has clearly been the group that has held the team together. Tree, Harney, and Nik have proven to be difficult matchups for anyone, let alone the MAC. Center - B While his overall game has clearly improved, particularly shooting from the floor and from the line, Zeke remains plagued by inconsistency. His defense has also improved, on average, but there remains work to be done on the boards. Tree has done fine here when Zeke is sitting. Coaching - B KD has been forced to deal with a few things this year that are not typical. I think he’s handled the off court issues very well. I think there’s room for improvement with the way he’s handled playing time. Overall - B Nobody should complain that the schedule was too easy this year, that’s for sure. This has resulted in a mixed bag with 2 big road wins, several missed opportunities, and a few outright dogs. All in all I can’t say I’m too disappointed given the off court issues and youth of some of the key players on the team. The team is positioned very well to challenge for a top tourney seed in a very competitive MAC East.
  3. You probably know already, but I'll mention McKinley product Keith McLeod is still playing for the Canton Charge..
  4. I wouldn't miss it! I like Capn's idea of a Southern theme. I'm working on a recipe for a Bowden Burger. But this may or may not fit into the theme. It's nearly impossible to fathom Lot 9 NOT being quite a bit more upbeat in 2012
  5. Sounds like a great name for a jello shot recipe to be unleashed on Lot 9 in 2012.
  6. It sounds like the Mo State coach Paul Lusk WANTS the Zips. That would be a nice matchup.
  7. +1 When Q is handling the ball, he generally has a guard defending him. Not so with Harney.
  8. Do I need to bring in the Tri Lams for support?
  9. I know you are, but what am I?
  10. +(1/x) as x --> zero
  11. Harney!!! Stick it loser broadcasters!
  12. Depends on whether the Little Caesars Bowl gets 1st pick or not BTW, I have it from a dadgum good source that Coach Amato will also coach the linebackers
  13. Yahoo article on Chase.
  14. Staff is complete. Boykin is on board Brother Jeff will have special teams. Does the omission of "LB coach" from this list mean the Amato will have linebackers in addition to his DC duties? Is there even a remote chance Okruch was reassigned to LBs? Here is a bio on our new S&C coach, from the La-Monroe web site.
  15. There is more info on that blog now. GT is on fire!
  16. If this headline is true, they'd better cancel the bus trip
  17. Maybe “school lies” are akin to statistics as used in the phrase popularized by Mark Twain. “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
  18. Toledo was actually the #7 seed that year while the Zips were the #3 seed. But the Rockets WERE the #1 seed the next year (2007), before Miami took them out in the semis. Let's not bother with the rest of this story!
  19. Excellent! If you assure me a matte finish, old gold helmet, I'm in
  20. He doesn't even bother to wait for his visit! Turner verbally commits to the Zips. I like his size at safety. Go Coach Bowden & staff!!! Go Zips!!!
  21. That's my single biggest beef with the JAR. It absolutely drives me insane.
  22. I wondered about that, but I'm pretty sure C-USA isn't included in the poll. You're right. I think we only got 1 extra vote over last week.
  23. Timely article on Boykin.
  24. Boykin has a lot going for him. He coached TWO, thousand-yard rushers last year, he's been at a number of places for a wide range of experience, and he should help recruit Detroit AND the Mahoning Valley. I'd gladly welcome him as our RB coach. I'm not sure where that would put Pont, unless you were right in the 1st place about him coaching the LBs. We still need a special teams coordinator and possibly TEs coach.
  25. Who said anything about Hauser being DC? Here is the list Zach worked up a little while ago: NewZipsFan, who seems to know more about this than anyone else, indicates Pont will be on offense, not defense. I only see positions for RBs and TEs left. I doubt Boykin and Pont would be needed for both RBs and TEs in the spread. Edit: scratch Hauser. ImAZipFan is correct. He has been hired by Illinois.
