  1. I was told the silhouette was actually Paul Winters', and due to a reduced Marketing budget we were forced to find a coach whose head dimensions were identical to Paul's. Man, did we get lucky. Can you imagine if they had to squeeze Mangino into that silhouette? All's well that ends well. Go Zips!!!
  2. The silhouette has been filled!
  3. failed social media experiment. If they wanted to use social media to beat everyone to the punch, theyre only about 5 hours late to the fight. Such a useless marketing department effort... I don't think they understand how social media and the internet work. I think they're waiting on a full write-up to be written before announcing. You don't need that on Twitter. Just say the coach's name and it's official. Say a write-up is coming later on gozips.com and stop delaying while things snowball out of control. Why? Isn't a frenzy a good thing? The more excitement that can be created the more people talk and the more it builds. There is nothing wrong with building peoples interest. To me, this is working, I doubt it is meant, but it is definitely working. People are talking, people are excited, people I never expected are contacting me. I want snowballs...it is Christmas isn't it? +1 Push those "this is Akron football, nothing good happens to us" thoughts aside!
  4. I'm a little jealous or RowdyZip, but I'm also a little sympathetic
  5. If there's one thing we've learned recently, it's that dreams can change.
  6. Thanks for clearing it up for me GP1 and skip-zip! So Bowden worked with Vernon Stewart. I somehow forgot that, but I sure don't forget Faust losing the last game of the 1986 season over in Stambaugh to another 1st-year coach (whose name will not be mentioned) 40-39 after a series of wacky events.
  7. I remember watching the Louisville game on TV. And we've discussed the Delaware St debacle here before. Someone has to recall the 1986 QB. I'm pretty sure Vernon Stewart was a SR in Dennison's last year (1985). Maybe I'm mistaken.
  8. Wasn't Andy also QB in 1986? I seem to rememeber him playing the better part of one season. Didn't he get hurt in 1987 with Mark Unaitis finishing up the season?
  9. Maybe we'll see a resurgence of the "pass-n-pitch"
  10. I wonder when he'll update his web site?
  11. When is the social media announcement? I look at "our" announcements as sort of anti-social
  12. That is so mangled. Auburn Zips hire Terry Auburn LOL. They're as stunned as we are
  13. ESPN picks up on it.
  14. I hope BWags reconsiders.
  15. I share the sentiment that Bowden was one of the best available. Correct me if i'm wrong, didn't he spend some time with the Zips as an assistant? Anybody that experienced the Rubber Bowl trough's has instant street cred in my book!! WOOT Go Zips!!! Ku*k Fent!!! Spent one year (1986 I believe) as an assistant for Gerry. And you'd think CoachGerry would have more to say about that
  16. Fire up the grills in Lot 9!!! It's time for some Bowden Burgers!!
  17. ABJ Story Edit: bobbyake, you mighty quick
  18. THE HAIR PART!!! The answer was staring us in the face the whole time!!
  19. Can I change my vote?
  20. I don't either. This is about the best scenario I could have imagined at this point.
  21. I'm fine with that! CoachGerry......you've been a member since April of 2004, and you wait THIS long for posts number 2 and 3????????
  22. I'd be OK with Terry. After all, if you can't land a D-II finalist, might as well go for a guy who at least won a 1st round game OK, OK, Auburn Auburn Auburn. Just messing with you. He'll definitely take over $500K though.
  23. What does CoachGerry have to say about Terry?
  24. I just don't see them splurging. I went with the low-end range.
  25. He doesn't cut the most attractive profile, but he still might look good on the Akron sidelines. We'll just have to put in a special order of some size XXXXXXXXL Shirts, Sweats and Jackets for him. No big deal. Kangaroo: Are you sure you didn't confuse him with the old Toledo coach? It's easy to make that mistake. Not sure I understand this question? I don't see anything that's been said that would apply to Toledo Tom.
