  1. Nothing like sitting at home during a blizzard, listening to the Zips handle a team they should handle. Go Zips!!!
  2. Z.I.P:Don't feel bad. I won't be able to get it up in Alaska either
  3. I don't think it's a big deal. The bottom line is the SVSM - Hoban game will draw a huge crowd, exposing the stadium and the atmosphere to a bunch of locals. I'm assuming the stadium is wired for broadcast, so if there's going to be any technical problems, hopefully they happen then and not vs. Indiana.
  4. I see signs for Hiram, Case, Denison, Kenyon...it looks like scores from their season thus far, or at season's end.
  5. I was looking through the recently digitized LIFE photo archive and came across this picture of the Rubber Bowl under construction. I'd never seen it before so I figured I'd share!http://images.google.com/hosted/life/f?q=%...1f7dac202a12703
  6. I've been doing a lot of flying lately so to kill some time on the plane I decided to mess around with Akron's helmet. Here's some ideas of different things could be done in the future. My personal favorite is second row, furthest on the right.
  7. I laughed when I saw what happened. It has to feel 10X worse to get beat like Miami did. National Championship GameWe lost on one shot. They had a TWO goal lead with less than a minute left. Then to lose on such a lucky shot in overtime......Oh well. They deserve it
  8. alaskaZagnut:I'm an Akron alum living up in Nome. I've been hearing about our game from a few people in town who either attended Gonzaga or now have kids there. Should be fun!
  9. I'd fly down for the game if the Iditarod wasn't ending this week here in town Oh well.
  10. Not thrilled that it's in Portland, but otherwise i'm pretty happy to play Gonzaga, I hate them.
  11. My fiance went to Valpo, I was just on their campus twice this summer and fall actually (a lot considering we live in Alaska.) A few thoughts:Easily drivable game for the Rowdies. I think it's around 5 or 6 hours.I haven't read their message board yet, but I bet there weren't 10 posts before some one ridiculed our academics. They like to think of themselves as classy and above everyone else in the midwest. Though, I was at my future sister-in-law's graduation there this summer and it took two names to be read before people were blasting airhorns and ringing cowbells.Their "arena" is more like a D1 highschool gym. Ours isn't much better, I will admit, but I remember thinking the JAR had much more of a college feel (what little of it it has.)These should be two wins for the Zips. I'm going to try to get back to Akron with my fiance (she'll be my wife by then) for the return game at the JAR for sure!
  12. AlaskaHawaiiTexasIndianaOhioVirginiaMarylandPennsylvaniaGeorgiaFloridaCalifornia11 so far. 39 to go!
  13. Start a thread asking people to name off the states they represent. Every so often, stop in and compile the list into a single post.It was kind of funny. I've lived here since 2005, but the one year I wasn't here, Akron came up to play in Fairbanks. Naturally I was in Akron at the time haha.
  14. Grew up in Ellet and Mogadore, graduated from Akron, now I continue to support the Zips from my home in Alaska!
  15. I was disappointed, I saw the headline at a glance and thought he was moving his entire shop to Can't. We could only be so lucky...
  16. I really hope you guys know that Ashland is officially "Ashland University"...
  17. Humpty Hitchens and the Chillicothe Cavaliers won the D2 State Championship this afternoon. How about we go out and win one tonight as well!
  18. The Rowdies had a nice chant for Bubba at Cleats as the game ended
  19. Went to Cleats in Green because they said that they would have the game. They didn't get it, instead the screen kept saying "Program not purchased". What a bummer, spent $22.00 on drinks and never saw the game.Should have gone to Cleats in Fairlawn, watched it there with about 25+ zips faithful. In all fairness to Cleats, it was a problem on DirectTV's end. The one in fairlawn got it on at halftime. The owner was a good guy and gave all the rowdies some free food.
  20. Agreed Zippysgotagun, I'd be 10x more upset if the Akron students acted that way. I was in with the Rowdies tonight and only remember one "Bullsh*t" chant. I don't much care for that, let alone the filth the kids dressed in piss colored shirts were using.
  21. I was about to mention that, Gozips88! The looks on their faces when they realized the HUGE sign they were holding says "WE SUCK" was priceless.
  22. Because I was there watching it with my own eyes. Milum escalated the situation yes, but there is NO excuse for fans to be throwing things. You're out of your mind if you think no students threw anything.
