  1. I thought they were fine from where I was sitting. And the Akron guy at the end of my row started calling Gonzaga a bunch of pussies (yelling of course) and that made me embarrassed as a fan. Quite unnecessary. btw, the band sounded good. Thanks! I'm sure there were some respectable fans somewhere in the Rose Garden, but given our experience with them during the game I was pretty dissapointed.Considering the small amount of alumni and students that could possible be truly connected to the school it would make sense that many of their fans are pathetic. The majority of them are just bandwagon fans, just look around ohio at all of the people that say love Ohio State, they are the same kind of fan. That's why it's great to be a Zips fan, a fan that actually roots for the home team and knows how to be a fan the right way. Gonzaga really did not impress me in any way in terms of fans or as a team. They may beat WKU but they just dont have any heart as a team and you could see it. I think what someone said about them using their floor time the day before for dunking and fooling around summed up the kind of team they are. The Zips on the other hand are a team that you should be truly proud to root for!(btw, to whoever the Akron fan who called Gonzaga fans "pussies": THANK YOU, i'm glad someone could represent the all out, all for your team attitude that college basketball is about. It's war out there even for the fans. The whining about respectability and the want by many Akron fans to have a high school atmosphere at college games is annoying. This is COLLEGE BASKETBALL. Drinking, profanities, wild comments, raucious cheering, and crazy antics are what make the game so fun, don't tone it down and turn it into CYO.)
  2. One more thing to add about last night: Did anyone else enjoy actually having decent officiating?I know it wasn't perfect but it was a hell of a lot better than the garbage we are used to and i think the performance ratings they are doing on the refs really might work in the MAC. Maybe even a performance based bonus setup for MAC officials.
  3. I'd say don't let him use a teleprompter because he would steal LeBron's lines, but without one he would just make fun of the disabled kids in the area. Kind of a lose/lose situation for LeBron, i doubt he'd do it because of the bad publicity.
  4. Is that the first time you see Bardo's line? You add to that no boxing out and no significant defense...i've seen it plenty of times but i just am stunned he had none last night. It sure seemed like he would have, plus i know he had 2 blocks i just watched the game again.
  5. if the rowdies just got together and made a road trip to a game of his and just went ridiculous rooting for him it could make that kind of impact. I know if i was in highschool and a bunch of one of the colleges' students came roaring into the arena and were the loudest people there and only cheering for me, i sure as hell would keep that college in my mind.
  6. Is the box score right? Mike Bardo had ZERO rebounds?!?Wow, 3 fouls, 1 assist, 2 points, ZERO rebounds....embarrassing.
  7. I think everyone is underestimating the talent of Parish, he can play and may even be a big factor next year.
  8. Although you're right about us outnumbering them, it's not a fair comparison. Their a small ho-hum catholic uni. Our enrollment is essentially six times theirs. Not a fair comparison.they have ten times us in front runners though so trust me it's fair. Every one and their mom roots for them out there.
  9. That is all you need to say? squeaking out against a team with 7 wins...Why dont you go on your own forum? Seriously if you are from out west and you arnt at the game you are a lame fan. If this game was within 10 hours of driving of us i guarantee you we would outnumber you guys there.
  10. that's all i need to say...it's going to happen tonight.
  11. i'll give you that, though i think they are equal in number of troublemakers at least.
  12. As a Washington Husky alum, it pains me to say it, yet the Zags have one of the best student sections I've ever seen including any Pac-10 games I've attended. Their student section seats 1200+ students and they've sold every student ticket to every game for the past 6 years or so. Pretty impressive considering their student body is around 4,000. As you noticed from the video, it was against lowly San Francisco. You should see what they do when we(UW) come to town . Beat the Zags! man...UW people on the boards even! That is impressive though, we cant even draw 200 rowdies to a game when we have 1400 of them and they draw as many students as we do and do it with 1/6 of the students.Tonight may change all of that though.
  13. Attention cuts both ways in Binghamton in first trip to dance
  14. Well as I have said before i started up Club Baseball this year and it's been very tough getting sponsorship money so i know how they feel. (though if i charged 1300 a player we'd have a bigger budget than the varsity team probably haha). But i do wish them the best, it sucks that it did not become bigger. I know down at OU they have a decent interest in their hockey games and that would be nice to have something like that here as well. Though we would probably need an on campus arena for that to happen. But you can see it's fairly popular down there in this video (you can also see a Can't player pound an OU players' face into the ice) :
  15. Let's not forget that the Zags play tough D too. But i personally feel kind of good about this game. I think the world may be shocked but ill just be semi surprised.
  16. that literally must be be every student in the entire school.
  17. good to know...though if they win like i said before i will be flipping cars on main st in celebration so hopefully i can be bailed out by that time.
  18. no but you know what i didnt find?anyone from Can't? EXACTLY
  19. Zips' mettle to be tested by Zags as they meet in the NCAA tournamentOregonLive.com game previewZips coach discusses strategy Ohio.com
  20. no but you know what i didnt find?
  21. You must have some incredible eyesight.haha i literally saw this and found it myself too. It looked like everyone was on there and i just started looking and of course the last place i looked, there he was.
  22. Time to shock the world.
  23. They lost to OAKLAND? Yikes! Oakland's got a pretty good basketball program. They have won 23 games i believe this year and would have been in the tournament instead of North Dakota State if some guy for NDS didnt hit a buzzer beater to beat them. Though it is pretty funny that their coach was playing it up as if the MAC is great and that they beat this good team. I also found it interesting that their home court is called "Athletics Center O'Rena". The O'Rena eh?They played a rough OoC schedule too. They barely lost to Cleveland State, Iowa, and Michigan. They beat Oregon and lost to Syracuse, Kansas State, and Michigan State. They also beat North Dakota State earlier in the year so it's not like they are some crap team. They played well with the big boys, I actually envy their out of conference schedule. The Zips should try playing a few more top level teams.
  24. Huggins left because the powers that be wanted to try to go big-time in football and decided to depart the Ohio Valley Conference (I-AA in football) to go independent, which left the basketball program with a much tougher path to the NCAA tournament (Akron had hosted and won the OVC Tournament to qualify for the NCAAs in 1986).Huggins recounts some of this in his book:http://tinyurl.com/cyr6cxdamn you, i just read like 15 pages and now i have to go buy the book...some good stuff is in there.
  25. Note to self...don't park on Main Street.Speaking of which, where is the best place to park? I may walk from the THs so I can get my fair share of drinking in!park in the deck behind the barley house and obc...it's free after 6pm i believe. Or just park in the UA parking lot by grismers behind vertigo.
