  1. haha it's all good. It was a bit moving in that it was a few days after the Gulf War started. So in that sense it's a powerful rendition and rightfully famous....just not as good as Faith Hill (who I despise btw).
  2. Not trying to start a fight on ZN.o, we've had enough of those, but it's 100% FACT that she sang to a dead microphone while her prerecorded voice was played. Link Link Link As you can see, it's common knowledge (since days after the performance) that it was lip-synced.
  3. If you can't sing it live, it doesn't count. The Star Spangled Banner isn't for those afraid to mess up...it's for people that have the guts to sing it all out LIVE. I'll always respect that more. And though I'm a traditionalist, I'll take Jose Feliciano's 1968 World Series rendition as well as Marvin Gaye's 1983 NBA All Star game Anthem over pre-recorded crap any day as well.
  4. playing NIU didn't help. Though I wouldn't worry too much, when we beat Miami Wednesday and ORU Saturday we will jump right back up and over #50.
  5. Let's not get crazy. Traditionally, there is nothing better than this:
  6. how about we just win all 8 (including the two tournament games), Mississippi State wins out (beats #1 Kentucky next week), we move up to #15 in RPI, and we get a 7 seed?
  7. Ya know, I wanted to like Ianello, I tried to like him. ..but this just reaffirms all the things i suspected about him all along. Sickening. But the article itself is fantastic. That is a fine piece of journalism that should be picked up by publications around the country. RIP Chris and Tyler...two of my favorite Zips ever.
  8. They've had over 500 this season for several games so there's no doubt in my mind it could be a big sport if it were on-campus.
  9. Lost Friday 8-4. After taking a 3-2 lead midway through the third, we collapsed and gave up a 6-to-1 run to end the game. Lost Saturday 5-3. Good game, but again gave up a few late ones. Attendance Friday was good. Probably the best student crowd of the year, but a total attendance near 300. Good turnout for the tailgate (during a snowstorm) as well. Probably 50 people for the tailgate in 20 degree weather. Saturday's attendance was about the same as friday.
  10. They still have two OOC games this coming weekend at John Carroll as well!
  11. The north side welcomed most of them...minus the kid wearing an Ohio State shirt. We gave him hell 'til he took it off. But overall it was good to have the section full, just hope they get a little more into it next time. They were awful for most of the game.
  12. I was going to start my own thread on this, but I figure this one covers my question as well. Of course we all we would love to see Ohio, Buffalo, or Can't knocked out before they reach a match-up with us...but what MAC-West team scares you guys the most? For me, it's Toledo or WMU. Pearson can just take over any single game and Stainbrook poses some problems for Zeke with his size. and here's a poll from my blog if you want to vote and/or see what others think
  13. After Saturday night's 5-1 record against the West, the MAC-East finishes crossover play with a 30-6 record. With updated RPI, the would put the MAC-West #29 overall in conference RPI if it were it's own conference. The MAC-East would be sitting pretty at #8!! I think we'd be having a different discussion about at-large bid chances if that were the case. Of course we would have had to play each MAC-East team another time and it would be tough to run the table on those six games instead of the six we had against the cupcake West. Not to mention the loss of our auto bid... but hey, I can dream.
  14. #20 Mississippi State lost to 11-12 Georgia today...not good.
  15. OU is so hit or miss that it's scary. Crybaby Cooper really does more harm than good to that team...i really believe that.
  16. Just a heads up: Tonight Akron Hockey hosts Toledo in their second to last home game of the season (tomorrow is the last but is during the basketball game). Akron currently sits in a playoff spot as the 5 seed but is only one point behind the third place Rockets. A win tonight secures a playoff spot and possibly more. The team has won three of their last four and is really playing well. Tickets are $5 or free with a student ID. Once again there will be a free tailgate prior to the game with FREE beer and FREE food. Come on out and support the team and enjoy a great atmosphere. Tailgate info Arena address: 5319 Port Jackson Ave. North Canton, Ohio
  17. Part 3: Pitching
  18. Dambrot got outcoached tonight...but our free throw shooting is the main story again. What the heck is wrong with us?
  19. At the beginning of the game when they went through the starting lineups and each player said who they were, he said "Chase Blackburn, Akron".
  20. @BuckZip I'm shocked you've never come across one of those "douchey" OSU fans. Trust me, they exist...and they're EVERYWHERE. Also, I personally don't think there is anything wrong with you being an Akron fan when you were growing up even if your parents weren't alumni and you didn't have any affiliation/association with the school, BUT you lived near or in Akron (i'm guessing), and that's a fine reason to be a Zip. Now people living in Akron rooting for OSU with no affiliation other than their walmart jersey and their Ohio residence is an entirely different story. Cowlumbus is NOT Akron. ROOt for the home team, not one 2 hours away! @GP1 Come on man, BuckZip is one of the good Zips fans. He may be a bit misaligned with his allegiance, but he's better than 99% of the OSU fans. And regarding the Tressel thing: Will you eat crow when he raises the entire cost of the new arena, does nothing wrong, and moves on from UA having left it in a better place than he found it? @skipzip We get it, you hate JT and the Buckeyes...i hate OSU too. But Tressel deserves a second chance, and you're kidding yourself if you don't think he could do A LOT for UA. Let's have a little faith in Louie P and his big plans. @everyone else IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A ZIP SO STOP FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER!!! We have Terry Bowden, Chuck Amato, Jim Tressel, Caleb Porter, Keith Dambrot, and Rick Rembielak. Things are looking good!
  21. I really think this is a student issue. The lack of students showing up is embarrassing. 4000+ people and only 300 students maybe? That's just ridiculous.
  22. worshiping Ohio State
  23. I don't know if anyone posted this yet, i couldn't find anything on here...but this is just too classic to not share: ABJ link Apparently this guy can't even find a lawyer that will take this case, as an article on KentWired.com from a few days ago says he's still looking for legal representation. Unbelievable.
  24. Harney had a bunch of turnovers...he got called for a travel twice in a matter of 40 seconds at one point and throw at least three TERRIBLE passes. No doubt his worst game as a Zip.
  25. According to figures I received, the attendance was over 250 paid and over 100 students. So 350+ easily. and @Spin, might I add that the back-to-back saves by Cahill in the first period were one of the top plays by an Akron athlete all year? First an amazing deflection against a one-on-one fast break, and then a straight up denial on the ensuing penalty shot (btw i did not see that interference call). Talk about a brutal crowd as well. THAT was a hockey game. oh and: GOALIE! SIEVE!
