  1. Entirely different than "not happy with the direction of the program". From what I gather from people I know down there, Cooper wasn't upset with the program in general, or the way Groce runs it, he was upset with his teammates and how his team performed. Would you expect anything else from him? This makes a ton of sense if you look at the big picture and the kind of person he seems to be. I'm not saying it will happen but it's very interesting that someone in the know would indicate this is something he's contemplating.
  2. Derschang...this year.
  3. I've heard everything from "Cooper is heading to Germany to play next season" to "Cooper is declaring for the NBA draft"; but for some reason this just makes sense. LINK
  4. Thanks for the advice, I didn't even realize I did that but then again it does feel like a lot of people are leaving. It also grabs more hits when phrased that way!
  5. I agree. The odds are seriously against Cooper and the Bobcats doing what they did this year a second time. His stock will not be higher next year than this year...unless of course he ballhogs even more, takes 30 shots a game and averages 30 points.
  6. beat me to it, was just about to post that.
  7. mostly joking.
  8. And look pretty cool in those sweet jerseys.
  9. DJ Cooper in Chicago for the Day? He's also been tweeting about "Business" he has to take care of there. hmm
  10. Murrow Comments on his Departure
  11. Coach Embick said that he expects Derschang will play attacking wing.
  12. American football rosters are huge...have you taken a look at our roster on gozips.com? It's like an army.
  13. Akron Pitcher to Undergo Tommy John Surgery Not looking good with two of our top three starters out now. I'm guessing that Alex Loftin will permanently move back to the starting rotation.
  14. Just confirmed that David Murrow will be transferring. LINK
  15. Forget the union, they would only need to put it on exchange.
  16. If anyone was wondering why Myles McVeigh hasn't made a start in nearly a month...
  17. It wasn't a good year
  18. Good crowds overall, but especially Friday and Saturday when it was warmer. The Rowdies were impressive and very loud, they caused some trouble for Ball State. Particularly the Cardinals leadoff man, who went hitless for the entire weekend and was visibly flustered by the heckling. And no, there were no concessions open. But people could just walk up to wing warehouse inside the stadium and get their fix there or bring their own food in. A few of us are planning on going there for pregame drinks and 39 cent wings on Wednesday for the YSU game, can't beat it.
  19. Forget Five Guys/Chipotle, A Skyway or a Swensons would make a killing...why both of those local places haven't put one in on campus is beyond me. They wouldn't know what to do with all of that money.
  20. Tough loss today but a damn exciting game. Our pitchers need to be smarter in suicide bunt plays though, we've been burned by that too many times already this season. Our pitching overall the past few weeks has been amazing however. We are getting solid start after solid start and the bullpen looks good for the most part. If we can stay consistent offensively, we will be in the mix by the end of the MAC season. Also, Akron fans better look out for the Rally Bum! He's going to vault this team to new heights. (anyone that went today knows what i'm talking about)
  21. They did this same promotion last year...it's a business, i'm cool with them doing whatever sells tickets. Also, I went to the game and heckled the OSU loons, it was a great time. OSU..C-K-S!!
  22. The Zips are finally getting some good pitching and starting to hit a bit as well. They are going for the 3-game sweep today at 1pm. If you can make it, you should really head down to Canal Park this afternoon. It looks like the rain will be done well before first pitch with sunny skies and mid-50's for gametime. Go Zips
  23. - Busts in my mind were anyone that either A) Never met expectations or Screwed up in someway that cut short their time and ability to contribute to the team. Obviously someone like Rydell Brooks was never even truly on the team, yet expectations were somewhat high for him after his freshman season at Niagra and he never played a minute due to incredibly bad decision making. As far as Harvey goes, he had an amazing freshman season but he made awful decisions himself, and as a student-athlete, his schooling was equally (if not more) important than his on-field performances. - As B&G quoted me perfectly above, I'll direct you to that. But to put it simply, while not much was expected of Ianello, his blunders were so massive that no reasonable person could have predicted him failing THAT badly. For that I consider him a massive "bust". -Bain was tough, because he was part bad off the field decision-making and part bad luck. Combined with what talent he had and the high expectations, he definitely flopped big time. It was tough putting him so low, and my first instinct would have been to put him ahead of Conyers and Harris/Mont. but after reading old posts on here and looking at the hype from newspapers as they came in, it's hard to see him that high. Remember Bain plays a game where he's just one out of two-dozen or so positions, while Conyers is one out of five. In basketball it's far easier for one player to change a game entirely, and Conyers was hyped, if not almost expected to do just that. Also, Harris and Montgomery both had strong resumes coming in and we were expecting fairly big things for the football program. Of course 2009 never panned out and even if it wasn't entirely their fault, they never amounted to anything on the Zips staff.
  24. I know that ZW isn't a huge fan of this list but it's been a big hit with most everyone else. So much so that I've even received messages asking about part 2 on my ZN.o account. That being said, the conclusion is finally up. I also figured it deserved it's own thread if only because it's an interesting topic. While I don't think anyone would argue that Ianello should be on top, what does everyone else think about the rest of the list?
