  1. I'm sure there's some of that going on. But I think for the most part (similar to the situation with the leader of our country) it's just that when you see someone failing, you'd rather see them replaced sooner rather than later. Akron is a D-1A program. We should NOT be a training camp for head coaches. For me, as with the leader of our country, I pray that these men succeed, all the while knowing that none of them will. For me, i'd only like to see them fail if it was real soon and it meant their firing. Other than that, i'm thinking exactly along the lines of GoZips....especially about the "leader of our country" thing. Please find a different forum to discuss your politics. Football and politics go hand and hand. How do you think Ianello got hired? He was a buddy of YTTom. How do you think Rahm Emanuel got to be Chief of Staff? He was a buddy of Obama. Very similar. The failure in both are eerily similar as well.
  2. It's the big day...this game could be tough for the Zips if PSU scores first but i dont see us having too much of a problem scoring as PSU has allowed a lot of goals so far this year. We keep that Corey Hertzog in check and we will be fine. 3-1 Zips. ASN Preview
  3. Those videos are all fantastically done, why do they all have so little views?! If those were of the Zips, i would watch those every morning when i wake up. Btw wouldn't it be great to have a real coach like Solich?
  4. I had the same problem using Google Chrome. Thanks!! np...chrome for me too...weird stuff.
  5. weird, the link wont work for me or a few other people i know here it is again if it doesnt work for you: LINK
  6. Well i do expect a win. We aren't as bad as our coach makes us. If he can figure out what he's doing, start motivating our players, and start earning some respect from them as well, then we have a decent chance in any game. I'm going down there for the weekend, hopefully a win will make it all the more fun.
  7. It could. Athletic departments hand down so many rules to players, they all should have their own law student assigned to them to keep them from breaking them. For all we know, he overslept and missed an 8 AM class. It's definitely worse than that, trust me. I'm sure it will come out eventually...just not from me.
  8. I don't see any lack of effort on any player's part. I see lack of depth, ability, scheme, results etc. But no lack of effort. Everyone is playing like they want to win. To be honest I dont see that too much either, but there are times when it seems like we dont hustle down on coverage for punts or kickoffs though. Maybe it's just me.
  9. Infocision Stadium, opened 2009: First Sell Out: Sept 12, 2009 (first game) 27,881 Dix Stadium, opened in 1969: "Although many crowds have come close, Dix Stadium has never officially been sold out for a Can't State game. The largest Can't State football crowd ever at Dix Stadium was 27,363 on November 10, 1973 for a game versus Miami University.[2] The stadium was, however, sold out in August 1980 for a scrimmage between the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills and nearly sold out for a November 28, 1998 high school playoff game between Cleveland St. Ignatius and Canton McKinley." owned
  10. I'd rather misspell one word than 90% of them. Btw, went to the game Saturday, when are they going to renovate that dump of a stadium? Oh they already have....twice? Wow. A great stadium is useless if you put crap in it - it's like having a Cadillac and putting a 5hp go cart engine in it. Or building a mansion around a moldy pile of turd, looks great outside looking in but there is still crap inside. So that line of thinking is why Can't still has that sh*thole stadium, right? It would take at least two 0-12 seasons in a row for the Zips to even be mentioned in the same level of bad that is Can't Football. Sure sure, they beat us this year but that's still 30-21-2 right? Not to mention the miserable 40 something years of having 95% losing seasons. I'll take Zips football any day over that.

  12. Players dont respect guys that aren't excited about the game (of football). I have a few inside sources on this: Ianello acts that same way at practice, he has that same tone all the time. I'm sure dressing like a 70 year old man (no offense to any on ZN.o) doesn't help his case either. And Belichick does has these things when at practice and when talking to his players, no coach is an emotionless weirdo and wins.

  14. I'm concerned about Meves not being in goal, but I can tell you firsthand that you could not have stood in goal at NIU and come away with a win. Poni did a great job, making a number of saves. lol well most games i'd be fine! btw #5 Tulsa lost Sunday against #20 South Carolina...AT HOME.
  15. Gotta get rid of Title IX first....but i say Akron offers Larry Kehres at Mt Union a ridiculous amount of money to come here. I'm talking mega millions, pay the man what he wants. You can't go wrong with a proven winner. in case anyone hasn't picked up on it. LARRY KEHRES IS GOING NO WHERE!!!! bigger schools than us have been offering this guy for years, and he stays where he's at. talking about Kehres is like talking about Bain or big foot. as far as the game goes. you know you are in trouble when your QB scores more for the other team, than he does for your own. Akron has one advantage over all of those big schools....we are a short commute. The guy doesn't have to uproot his family and leave the area. I dont care how loyal a guy is, anyone can be bought. We just gotta find what his price is.
  16. Nice spelling, i'm guessing you have a DOCTORATE from Cant State?
  17. What are you talking about? Of the remaining six games, only one is against a team that is over .500. Ohio U, WMU, and Ball State are all awful as well. Sure the Zips are probably worse than all six teams but the schedule isn't going to be what does them in, it'll be themselves. One of these games is going to be handed to the Zips and they will get that win, you'll see.

  19. So there is a small chance that we will see Poni in goal on Wednesday, what does everyone think about that? I'm personally not too worried as i think in most games i could be in goal and we'd probably still win. Though nothing against Meves or anything, the guy is BIGTIME
  20. That's too bad, they gave me 50 bucks each of the last two times i went there. Used that money to pay for my entire tailgates for the first two home games and gas and beer for the trip to OSU a few weeks ago. From what i understand, it would be very unlikely this is where any sports facilities (basketball arena) would be going as two adjacent properties are owned by people who were recently eminent domained. Don't they have to wait a certain amount of time before doing it again? I'm sure they could just outright by them but that's going to be a pretty penny im sure.
  21. I hate to correct mainland volleyball malihinis, but there were five games played. Every collegiate volleyball MATCH consists of at least three GAMES. The term "sets", comes from the sport of tennis -- not volleyball. Someone tell Gozips.com. ha...well maybe i was referring to the final game of the match
  22. 1) The game is free. 2) I'm heading up with a group of 4 (so far) and tailgating early.
  23. Can't wait to read Poni's big write-up of his 2011 debut. Will he claim credit for the clean sheet? Game played at Ultimate Soccer Arenas. Was this preparation for the demise of MLS and return of Major Indoor Soccer League? ha, i wouldn't go that far but i can tell you one thing: It would be nice to Akron play on turf again, they can really tear it up when they have a surface like that. Playing on Infocision might not be a bad idea if it was possible. ASN article...sorry no video tonight :-(
  24. haha, the funny thing is there are bands out there that sound better than that live (not studio recorded). Also, how many are there, 70?
