  1. Check out the interactive bracket. Feel free to join the ASN group before/after you've made your picks. The group name is "Akron Sports NOW" the password is "gozips".
  2. Don't know if anyone is still having trouble loading the bracket but here it is at ASN: LINK
  3. The guy on tv said we are in the toughest region but i say it's all the same. Besides the top 5 teams, we should steamroll everyone else anyways. Having good competition to warm up to in these games will help us in the College Cup. ASN Coverage
  4. 3 seed vs the winner of Xavier and WVU. hmm
  5. i'll be sure to post as soon as it airs.
  6. Scumbags have won before: 1938: Adolf Hitler 1939, 1942: Joseph Stalin 1979: Ruhollah Khomeini 2007: Vladimir Putin 2010: LeBron James?
  7. Only a little longer until we find out who the Zips will take on this weekend in the 2nd round.
  8. Yes, but i gotta point out that i saw him limping throughout the match on restarts. Hopefully almost a full week of rest will be good for him.
  9. Yeah and i'm hoping it's Virginia or OSU....both probably shouldn't be seeded and both would be NUTS to play at home. They each have one of the most hated players to Zips soccer fans.
  10. I wouldn't root for Can't if they were playing team Hamas.
  11. Yeah , it seemed like last night's video didn't sync with the music so it makes sense that another song goes with it. We really need to have the footage of mcnees hitting the big three vs EMU with Reghi's call and the three he hit to tie Ohio in the championship and French's call.
  12. Well i apologize (honestly), i didn't realize so many people would be offended. Though (another joke) i guess early November was worse for some than i thought.
  13. Great win for the Zips, it's a bit troubling how much trouble we had late in the game (when it was still 1-0 and 2-0) when Buffalo really started pushing it. I dont think it is anything too big to worry about though as i'm sure coach Porter will address these things before the games that actually matter begin (the NCAA tournament). Also, awesome to see Scott Caldwell get his first goal on that free kick. And probably the first time all year that Ampai or Nanchoff didn't take a free kick. ASN coverage
  14. If he was Obama's aunt he would already be a citizen....and have free housing! These politically "smart" comments are really uncalled for on this forum. It was a joke, and it sounds like you may be an apologist of failed experiments. Weird how similar this is to the "Ianello experiment".
  15. Some good questions. Thank you! Feel free to post any more as you still have a few days.
  16. Well they were both born on the same continent so that shouldn't be too hard!
  17. If he was Obama's aunt he would already be a citizen....and have free housing!
  18. I would have to say that McClanahan and Egner impressed BIGTIME. Egner actually looked more than competent defending and was very aggressive with and without the ball. I CANT WAIT to see him get some space for some more big dunks. McClanahan was the same, played good defense and was all over the glass, he grabbed FIVE offensive boards, and picked off two passes (the official stats are wrong, btw the official box score also claims that there were ZERO fast break points in the game...yeah right). If he can shoot well consistently it's going to change the game for the Zips. ASN coverage
  19. While i will say he does look like quite the goober and i'm sure that does play at least a small part in recruiting, I will point out that appearances are not everything. Don't you think some recruits around the country have been bothered by old man Paterno coming to their house and reeking of old guy? That didnt stop plenty of them from signing and i'm sure if Ianello is as good a recruiter as he's supposed to be, the same weird things about him will take a backseat to what he's pitching. Though whether or not he's even a good recruiter remains to be seen. Not only that, but i'm sure there a few (not many) good coaches out there that did not play high level football and they are doing just fine.
  20. wow, anyone check out this video on that blog with the Teal info? now THAT is a call.
  21. Akron Sports Now is doing a Q/A with Zips Men's Soccer player Perry Kitchen. Just wondering if ZN.o members have any questions they would specifically like to ask? Whether it's a fun question or something regarding his experience so far in his first season, feel free to post them below!
  22. I'll reveal what I know. I know that we're winless with only two games to go. I know that we have a coach who the players hate and who resents his players. I know that our coordinators don't know how to call plays. I know that our position coaches have made the players at their positions worse than they were last year. I know that the athletic director doesn't care about the few hardcore fans that remain. I know that Akron will not be able to sell any football tickets next year. And I know that absolutely none of this bothers the AD or head coach. Couldn't have said it better. Today I heard exactly what you are saying from a contributing player on the team. He has already decided to leave after this season ends due to the coaching situation. I fear that it may be far worse than any of us can imagine. It's really too bad.
  23. Hell, i'm more afraid of Creighton or OSU compared to Louisville.
  24. if you want to play a horrible team, why does it matter what division they are in? Because it doesnt count for RPI or anything for that matter.
  25. So why again are we playing a D3 school in basketball with several hundred D1 teams (many horrible as well) to choose from for a tune up game?
