  1. +1I've never seen a problem with Buffalo fans, except .....Never mess with the national anthem.Never. No way. No how. No matter how cool you may think it might sound to amplify "home of the brave(s)", most patriotic citizens will rightfully consider it disrespectful of the true meaning and purpose of our national anthem, and think less of the University at Buffalo and its students. They weren't the first...i believe Can't was WAY worse 2 years ago. They started chanting during the national anthem, at least the Buffalo fans (all 8 of them) yelled "home of the bulls". That is not far removed from what the Rowdies do, though the Rowdies only do "home of the zips" when the national anthem is not being sung.
  2. Couldn't agree more, i didn't even realize they were sitting up there (they were directly behind me) until halftime. What an embarrassing show for the Greeks as well as a terrible turnout for Rowdies. I honestly dont get it. 1200+ at soccer games (SOCCER?!!?) but barely 75 at a basketball game...hmm.
  3. That was a True Blue Embarrassment. That's all the students you could gather for that trip? HAHA
  4. 100,000 views! It's popping up around the web.Try googleing it, it's amazing. The Angry TSB NationBarstool SportsSports Illustrated's Hot ClicksNextRound.comDumbFans.comBustedCoverage.comSports Blog on Rivals.comBuzzMyTime.comTerezOwens.comTheMarchtoMadness.comand my favorite (it even includes it's own song about Jon): SportressofBlogitude.comThere are DOZENS more. It's great to see many of these websites being college hoops forums/websites/blogs, maybe it will get more viewers for our big game on March 5th.
  5. they have them every year. My roommate tried out last year. He played two years at Ohio Northern(DIII Ohio Athletic Conference member) and is very skilled, yet when he got to tryouts the coaches told all 20 or so who were there that they weren't even really looking for anyone, maybe one person. He had a good tryout and still didn't make it.That being said, I miss soccer like crazy and might try out, if not just to get back on the pitch for once Well then good luck...it would be nice to have a Zipsnation member as an insider.
  6. Is this what you mean?(skip til 48 seconds)yeah. at least it looks him. They also say his name about 30 times. So unless there is a Jon Jankowski out there that looks just like him then yeah that's definitely him.

  11. I loved when they showed that and had the fireworks during player intros...I think the reason we aren't that good this year is because they got rid of the fireworks! bring em back!!!!!also up to 45000+ views on the video...hopefully one day we can surpass miley cyrus and have 100,000,000,000 and the whole world will know how much Can't state sucksI spend alot of time on youtube and i can tell you that at the rate this thing is gaining views, it could be a million view video.
  12. 4 maybe a 5th going to BG saturday.
  13. THATS how you win us over right there!hahaHIGH FIVE
  14. Well i guess one of them can write.Yea, now we're talking. I'm still surprised someone hasn't pronouncing "K e n t" as the C-word. Probably giving too many ideas though. We are a little classier than the average trailer trash that attend Can't State.
  15. Well i guess one of them can write.
  16. I run my finger down the side of a balloon once to make a "squeak" sound in the student section during an opponents foul shot attempt. The ref threatened to throw me out if I didn't stop. (this was 15 years ago)Same thing happened last season with us. Then again, it was two people dressed like this doing it at one time.
  17. That's alright, we dont want to fill out the paperwork that comes with hiring someone from out of country.
  18. I dont know if everyone has seen this so i figured id make it it's own thread. If you find any good videos feel free to either send them to akronzipsclips@gmail.com or post them on the Zips videos thread that I believe we already have. Anyways, the original video for the Can't sideline reporter got taken down by Can't but the one we reposted is still alive and kicking and now has 32,000 views! So keep spreading the Can't State embarrassment and please subscribe and/or check out the page. Check out the playlists, as i've got videos sorted by sport/theme. Also, thanks again to VMD for making the awesome template and icon for the page. AkronZipsClips
  19. You're more than welcome to join us when we do "I Believe" though I don't think the other rowdies will like itYou're talking about this one right:"I believe that Canada rules!"
  20. Why is noone mentioning one important thing...Why is it not a sure thing that he will get a B average? Is he that big of a slacker or is he just plain stupid? I mean if he really has some sort of learning disability than my bad i dont mean to offend but you cant tell me that he cant get 4 out of 5 B's. That means he could get an A in one and only get 2 B's right (with a C)? How hard is that? It's highschool for crying out loud.Do we want someone on our team that knows he will get a free ride to college and to play football if he just puts mediocre effort towards it but still wont? Because that's all it takes to get a 2.3 for your HS career, MEDIOCRITY.
  21. That's one of the rewards I'm pretty sure of the point system, getting tickets for the Can't game.Well like most people I went home for winter break, kinda screwed me over then because I missed so many games. I've gone to most since then, but if thats a requirement I don't see how I will be able to get to go to the Can't game. It's easy to catch up...just go to girls games. I've only been to 3 girls games and all 3 i didnt sign in to get my points and i still am #7 last time i heard. So go to a few games they are worth more points than guys and you can catch up.
  22. Same...i already bring people to games all the time and i've hooked plenty of them on just getting them to go once. What people need to do is invite their friends, get them to come just once and see what it's all about.
  23. For the most part we do, that's why the sousaphones moved down to the floor. You are averaging at least 2 seats per person still.
  24. I have been saying that for the longest time. No offense to the band, but they should move up to the wooden bleachers where it says "band". They are taking up half of the student section on that end and they can be heard just fine if they were on the 2nd level...Isn't two half empty student sections way worse than one? If there are empty seats with the band taking up half of them what in the world makes you think they'll be full if we move? I'll call you out here. I came back for the Valpo game over break and got there a minute and a half after tip off and they weren't going to let me sit down behind the baskets even though there were about 5 students on one side and twenty on the other. Luckily one of the ushers recognized that I'm usually with the band and let me in but only after arguing with the folks up top for 5 minutes. Isn't that what cheerleaders are for? The student section starts all of their own cheers anyways. Where do Can't and Buffalo put their bands? How about at the Q for the tournament, where do they sit? You know where we were in Portland? Right behind the basket. We talk about bandwagon fans on this board a lot. 1300 students at a soccer game and lucky to get 50 at a basketball game? You blame the Rubber Bowl for the poor student turn out for football games and say more students will show up to games when the stadium is on campus. There were 15 students at the Eastern Michigan football game. Now you're saying they don't sit in the empty seats behind the baskets because the band is there?I've been dissapointed with the Rowdy turn out all year. Don't get me wrong, the ones who are there are excellent. My game isn't complete without the guy holding up the erroneous poster and screaming at the refs or the "I Believe" chant at the end of the game. The problem is the 1000+ who aren't there. I made the road trip to Buffalo with three other guys from the band and there were only two other Akron students there and it was a three day weekend. Where was everyone for the Can't basketball game this year? It's fifteen minutes away! I've made roadtrips to BG, Buffalo and evey Can't game without the band and am always amazed by the lack of student support. Be thankful you have a guaranteed thirty students or so there every game with the band so it doesn't look as bad for the school when the games are on tv and there are 30 more empty blue seats on the court.I used to be all for the band moving but i realized that you are right. You guys put alot into it lately. You dont just stand there, you get loud along with the rowdies and i salute you guys. Until the 90% of the Rowdies who never come to basketball games start showing up there is no reason to move the band. Once they do and students need those seats, of course, move the band back up where they should be. But right now it's not like anyone is trying to sit there considering there is plenty of room on the north side. However, maybe the band should move up for the Can't game because we all know the Twice a Year's will be in full force taking up seats for that one.I understand where you're coming from for the Can't game, but I respectfully disagree. I've been at every game for two years and I would much rather sit under the basket for the biggest game of the year then up top. I'm one of the one's cheering just as loud as everyone else and don't really feel like I should have to give up my seat for one of the twice a years who obviously couldn't care less about the game.Quit the band.RootforRoo I was hoping for once we could have a civil discussion without you going off on one of your band attacks. Oh well...Besides, if I quit I don't get free tickets to go to the Q or Portland and root on my team.Take the time you spend with band, work a job, and pay for it yourself. I'm not being uncivil. It's not like people are saying "get rid of the band", they just want them moved. And when the time comes where those seats are needed, you should be moved. I have been to every home game except one in the last 7 years and a good deal more over the 10 years prior. I dont get priority seating and i dont expect it. You shouldnt expect to get to sit down there either, same as you shouldnt expect to get TWO/THREE seats down there for yourself. You find a way to take up 1 seat per person in the band then fine.
  25. It is weird. I mean, even at the Morgan State game when we were smoking them most of the students left at halftime, and then no one showed up for the Indiana game. Maybe the basketball team needs to win every single game and then be ranked number one in the nation to catch the students attention.*ding ding ding ding*
