  1. I love how we have a 7 footer but the small forwards are shooting inside hook shots.
  2. Just as you put that, he drains a three. Still though i agree. Brett McKnight is such a liability on defense that if he isn't scoring he should be at the end of the bench. He drained a three, but now BSU is tied because nobody's playing defense. It's just more of the same lazy basketball...you'd think they could put together two good games in a row.I swear Humpty or a McKnight heave up a bad shot at least once every two possessions.

  4. Gotta love the Zips walking back on defense and getting beat....here comes the run.
  5. They have the most God awful dance team...looks like a pee wee football cheerleading squad.
  6. I'm trying to get people together to go watch this somewhere since the weather has taken a turn for the worst and i wont be making the trip. It's down to the Barley House or Tap House.
  7. If you consider about 8-10 rowdies and 1/4 of the lower reserved on each side a "Crowd", then no...it was pretty easy to put your foot up, except for a couple of us actually did that(actually it was laptop on seat) and broke a couple of our seats in the process...so that's 2 less seats for rowdies against Can't state... Uh oh...was the "seat guy" there to yell at you guys? (i'm sure you know who i'm talking about)
  8. Who cares what he called KD. I'll take Mike Rasor over Mike Hrush ANYDAY.
  9. Was it: "GP1 Speaks on the Rise and Fall of the Suburban Athlete"?ha, i would have welcomed that over "Mark Cryer Answers 99 questions you've always wanted to ask a black man' but really Mark Cryer will not answer any of those questions but instead spend 2 hours ripping on Sarah Palin and white America."
  10. I couldn't agree more. Many a game have been lost by the Zips in the past few years due to KD not riding the momentum his players build. The way he runs things it's hard for shooters to get into any sort of rhythm.
  11. Wish i could have made the game tonight. Had to go to an event for Race Week in the union theater. Looking back, i would have rather gone to see some top notch basketball than listen to a racist for 2 hours.Anyways, was there a decent crowd tonight?
  12. Why would students go? same reason they don't to the football games...on a night if they had to choose between a sober basketball game or a stupid party were they can get wasted and "hook up", they'll go to the parties every nightSober basketball game? What do you think those pepsi/coke/mountain dew bottles are filled with that everyone is drinking at the games?I guess the students that are there are the smart ones.
  13. Q27: Don't you hate it when g-mann17 kills the buzz?Q28: Don't you think he should refrain from thread-killing?Q29: Don't you sometimes want to call him RICHARD CRANIUM?Yes, yes and yes. :CK_brew:Yep I killed the thread, not the person bringing up a pointless not going to change decision. Here I'll change question 26Q26: I think the lack of beer at the stadium was the biggest problem the Info had last season....apart from not having a football team to play in it.
  14. You might be onto something here. Nik has an incredibly quick spin move for a big MAC forward, and Zeke has incredibly good blocking ability for a MAC center. MAC refs don't have much experience with either, and I think we all agree that the Zips are the victims of bad calls on both.Maybe something proactive and creative like KD having someone take slo-mo footage of Nik's spin move and Zeke's clean blocking ability and sending it to the guy in charge of MAC refs. Seriously. He should also send the stats regarding running foul totals. For example, nearly every game you have a situation where say one team has 8 fouls and the other has 3 and then the refs call 5 straight fouls on the team with 3 fouls to even it up.It goes back and forth every game like that.
  15. Not much...at least not from me.
  16. Can explain to me why they do that so much on defense? I see it all the time with Zeke or Bardo. They play man and get their center brought out up top and beat to the basket 4-5 times a game!I really can't tell you. If we had Zeke down low we could gamble and send the 2-3 guy out and pressure knowing we had an answer in the paint. To do what he did on that play tonight was absurd. Medlock is a good, quick guard and the outcome of that play was very predictable because it left the lane vacant. Another time in the game Zeke made a pretty hook shot so what does Keith do?? That's right, sits him down with the next whistle and fatigue was not a factor. Lets not give the kid a chance to get on a roll and build his confidence.Let's not forget Zeke also had a monster block at one point and got the crowd going again and he was on the bench within 30 seconds of it.
  17. I drifted this quote from my post on offering my tickets to the NIU game.My right .... you bet. I have been a fan of Zips sports from before most of you were born. I have held multipleseason tickets for football and basketball for more years than I care to count.Ninty-nine percent of the time I am a huge supporter of coaches. Even the really bad ones. I love KD.But, he has lost control. He needs to right the ship. The Zips have stunk up four of the past five games. The team has no heart, no soul, no drive, no killer instinct. Where is the leadership? I will tell you where. He is sitting to damned much of the time. KD, love the kids. Stop putting them in season long dog houses.Tonight I saw Dan Hipsher not Keith Dambrot. Hipsher never trusted his kids. KD knows better.Let us start with basics. First, free throws. Which coach teaches free throws? It is not enough tomake the kids shoot free throws when they are winded. A coach needs to watchfully correct bad mechanics. It is not being done. Game after game the kids go to the line and never get off their heels. A free throwshot is a continuous motion that begins at the ball of the foot and ends with full extension of the shootingarm. Other than Darryl Roberts none of the kids have good mechanics. Not one.Second, we play great defense for thirty seconds, usually. Sure, there are occasional breakdowns, that hapens. The problem is the last five seconds. Teams have learned to pass and weave and patiently wait for theend of the shot clock then drive the basket. We stand there flat footed and they knock down lay up afterlay up .. unguarded. This happens repeatedly because no one is communicating. No one calls the switch. No one releases and doubles down. No one, and I mean, no one is talking on the floor. If they were, we would hear them. You know all those missed shovel passes that become turnovers? No communication and the receiving player gets the ball unexpectedly. He can not read the other guy's mind.Third, other than Nikola, who drives the lane to the basket? That's right. No one.Fourth, we need a point guard that sees the floor and distributes the ball. I love Steve McNees, at the twowhere he gets open and knocks down treys. It is a whole different ball game when he is chucking themup in desperation. KD is not developing a point guard because he is comfortable with Steve. I'm not. But, I'm just a stupid fan. I want Steve out at the two where he is most effective.Fifth, who is guarding who? We had Brett McKnight guarding the EMU shooter. Isn't that better handledby Jimmy Conyers? I thought that assignments were awful. EMU had so many great mismatches on us.Sixth, lethargy. You just got to love lethargy because we have so much of it. Passion? Hell, if the securityguards catch a fan with any sort of passion they hustle them right out of the gym. If KD sees a playerplaying with passion he sits him down. KD, you are ripping the hearts out of these kids. Its on you, pal.Seven, the good old AK-howdies. They are back. Thrity kids in each end zone. There were a thousandRowdies at the soccer games. They all die?My last gripe of the night is the backing off of the full court pressure right when EMU was coming unglued. The time out at 6:32 and the three bigs are sat down and in trots Zeke, McClanahan and I don't recall. At any rate, the full court pressure stopped and so did the run. That's coaching, ahem. I am pissed.+2It was nice to have some more students at the game tonight. I had fun despite the loss but maybe that was because i spent 9 dollars on 50 cent PBR on draft at the place we went before the game.I'm going to hope KD figures it out next game. Also, maybe the team will see that there are a few hundred people in the crowd who put more effort out than they do some nights. I hope that fires them up.
  18. Who ever said we were the best fans in the MAC? We are some of the worst, notice how we cannot get anyone to watch our sorry team put no effort into half of our season. And ONE GAME??! More like 6-7 this season we have given up on.
  19. I don't know if it was justified, but suspending your star player is not a good thing. If you have to suspend someone, make it Alex Sullivan. Oh wait, they did.I'd rather see Sullivan in there than half ass humpty heaving up ill advised shots.
  20. Can explain to me why they do that so much on defense? I see it all the time with Zeke or Bardo. They play man and get their center brought out up top and beat to the basket 4-5 times a game!
  21. I get in free and i wont even be attending (i havnt missed a home game in 3 years). No thanks.
  22. i hear you...im sick of watching half ass basketball.Really, add the terrible officiating into it and you have the most boring basketball known to man. Also, im starting to wonder if KD really has what it takes to take this program to the next level.
  23. In the standings but not at the bank.I think Saturday's game scared away a few hundred people from ever attending another Zips basketball game.
  24. TV Ratings are far from hypothetical, very well studied due to the all powerful advertising dollar. Look up what share a prime time network first round ncaa playoff game pulls, then look up the other two scenarios. You'll be surprised. I realize this isn't the intention of the original post, but for the sake of knowledge for those who aren't aware, it's a nice research project. But TV ratings have nothing to do with the "guaranteed .01% of Akron population caring about soccer, or the guarantee fan preferences. TV is a whole different ball game and part of the reason football is more popular than soccer in America is because TV and the media tells us it is. This thread is like asking if you'd want a Indians National Title vs. Cavaliers making (only) the first round of playoffs vs. the Browns beating the Steelers in regular season. A title, championship, being THE winner overall is the highest honor. Nothing else comes close.NO the comparison is asking whether you want the Indians making the playoffs as a wild card or seeing the Gladiators win the championship.Soccer is NOT on the same level of football or basketball....period.RootforRoo44, you're right. Soccer is not on the same level as football or basketball; however, if I had to pick between a national championship or a playoff appearance, I would have to say that I would choose the national championship because that will forever be there...no matter what the sport is even though it may not seem as important as football or basketball, being able to say "National Champion" can be said forever, people won't remember outside of Akron in what basketball or football does unless they win it all...Wow, that is the most untrue statement I have ever heard. And this is still the dumbest topic I have ever seen. Each sport right now has a different expectation of success. Football - MAC Championship or Bowl game (winning season)Basketball - NCAA Tournament bid (wins would be excellent)W. Basketball - a solid winning seasonSoccer - National TitleW. Soccer - NCAA Tournament appearance MAC championshipRifle - National TitlesTrack - National TitlesWhy (other than for a stupid argument) would want to pick one over the other. If you don't think people outside of Akron don't remember the MAC Championship you are fooling yourself (ESPN Classic plays that game regularly). If you don't think that playing Gonzaga was more exposure than playing in the College Cup Final, you are fooling yourself. Every paper in the state talked about Akron, CSU, Dayton, Xavier, and OSU being in the tournament (one of the greatest Ohio Basketball years ever). I want the Soccer NC because that is the expectation. I would not give up a level of success for any other sport to get it, that is just plain idiocy. Nor would I give up the Soccer NC for success in any other sport. You take what you get. We are a nationally dominant soccer program, track program, rifle program, that is what we want for every sport we have. It's just more difficult in the major sports (Men's & Women's Basketball & Football) because there is a barrier of history that has to be broken in order to get the people we need to win.Exactly G-mann17.Also i have no problem believing that some of you would want a National Championship for soccer more than the other mentioned things for other sports. That's certainly okay to be a fan of soccer and wish them to win a national championship first and foremost if that's what means the most to you. However, that's not the argument, the argument really is "What is best for the school/notoriety"? Fact is, Soccer is off the radar and Football/Basketball do a lot more for notoriety.
