  1. I have been saying that for the longest time. No offense to the band, but they should move up to the wooden bleachers where it says "band". They are taking up half of the student section on that end and they can be heard just fine if they were on the 2nd level...Isn't two half empty student sections way worse than one? If there are empty seats with the band taking up half of them what in the world makes you think they'll be full if we move? I'll call you out here. I came back for the Valpo game over break and got there a minute and a half after tip off and they weren't going to let me sit down behind the baskets even though there were about 5 students on one side and twenty on the other. Luckily one of the ushers recognized that I'm usually with the band and let me in but only after arguing with the folks up top for 5 minutes. Isn't that what cheerleaders are for? The student section starts all of their own cheers anyways. Where do Can't and Buffalo put their bands? How about at the Q for the tournament, where do they sit? You know where we were in Portland? Right behind the basket. We talk about bandwagon fans on this board a lot. 1300 students at a soccer game and lucky to get 50 at a basketball game? You blame the Rubber Bowl for the poor student turn out for football games and say more students will show up to games when the stadium is on campus. There were 15 students at the Eastern Michigan football game. Now you're saying they don't sit in the empty seats behind the baskets because the band is there?I've been dissapointed with the Rowdy turn out all year. Don't get me wrong, the ones who are there are excellent. My game isn't complete without the guy holding up the erroneous poster and screaming at the refs or the "I Believe" chant at the end of the game. The problem is the 1000+ who aren't there. I made the road trip to Buffalo with three other guys from the band and there were only two other Akron students there and it was a three day weekend. Where was everyone for the Can't basketball game this year? It's fifteen minutes away! I've made roadtrips to BG, Buffalo and evey Can't game without the band and am always amazed by the lack of student support. Be thankful you have a guaranteed thirty students or so there every game with the band so it doesn't look as bad for the school when the games are on tv and there are 30 more empty blue seats on the court.I used to be all for the band moving but i realized that you are right. You guys put alot into it lately. You dont just stand there, you get loud along with the rowdies and i salute you guys. Until the 90% of the Rowdies who never come to basketball games start showing up there is no reason to move the band. Once they do and students need those seats, of course, move the band back up where they should be. But right now it's not like anyone is trying to sit there considering there is plenty of room on the north side. However, maybe the band should move up for the Can't game because we all know the Twice a Year's will be in full force taking up seats for that one.I understand where you're coming from for the Can't game, but I respectfully disagree. I've been at every game for two years and I would much rather sit under the basket for the biggest game of the year then up top. I'm one of the one's cheering just as loud as everyone else and don't really feel like I should have to give up my seat for one of the twice a years who obviously couldn't care less about the game.Quit the band.
  2. I'll agree with you there at least.
  3. Anti-Life?If you are implying that he is "pro-choice", I do believe that is incorrect. It's from Wikipedia, I know, but here are some pointers on his abortion stands.Paul supports constitutional rights, such as the right to keep and bear arms, and habeas corpus for political detainees. He opposes the Patriot Act, federal use of torture, presidential autonomy, a national ID card, domestic surveillance, and the draft. Citing the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, Paul advocates states' rights to decide how to regulate social matters not directly found in the Constitution. Paul calls himself "strongly pro-life",[150] "an unshakable foe of abortion",[151] and believes regulation or ban[152] on medical decisions about maternal or fetal health is "best handled at the state level".[153][154] He says his years as an obstetrician led him to believe life begins at conception;[155] his pro-life legislation, like the Sanctity of Life Act, is intended to negate Roe v. Wade and to get "the federal government completely out of the business of regulating state matters."[156]So there you go. Support him in full conscience. My apologies...i guess i got the wrong information somewhere about that. Well then, he isnt for allowing baby killing so im all for him ha.

  5. Ask that ref that tried to throw me out as well
  6. Actually i think we hit it big. haha. The video they posted is the one for AkronZipsClips. Hopefully that will get some looks at the other Zips videos.BTW, the first one got taken down. I'm willing to bet that the repost will be gone soon as well.
  7. Ya know if Ron Paul wasn't anti-life i'd be all for him. Other than that he's definitely what this country needs...well anythings better than ...yeah
  8. NO WAY they bring a bus full of people for this. Their student section is the worst in the MAC, i cant believe they even know there's a game Wednesday.Schools with worse student sections:MiamiCan'tBowling GreenWestern MichiganCentral MichiganEastern MichiganBall StateNorthern IllinoisThey've been organized for a couple years now.Well you got me on Can't...yeah they suck.

  10. Food for thought. Zips fans said the same thing 3 seasons ago when we were coming to the JAR. Based on what I saw, the team we beat then with Jeremiah Wood, Nick Dials, and Cedrick Middleton was significantly better than the team I saw out there tonight. I remember a freshman Larry Sanders coming into the JAR and setting an all-time record in your building with 9 blocks in that game. Of course we are a different team from back then too, but with new weapons. At the same time, VCU has now beaten Akron 3 straight seasons and is 5-0 all-time in the series. At some point there should be a level of respect given to VCU. If Larry Sanders doesn't leave for the NBA this year, I think we have a very good shot at winning at the JAR next year. I wasn't particularly impressed with the talent on the Zips squad, but you have a team that works hard and maximizes what they get out of what they have. They really scrap it out and work hard. That kind of work ethic is something you can build on. Shaka recruited the McKnight brothers, Darryl Roberts and Mike Bardo for the Zips before he left Akron. In contrast we had a recruit from California at the the game to watch our two teams face off who is 6'11, 225 pounds and has a number of BCS offers. It's just easier to recruit when you have basketball tradition (9 NCAA appearances, 5 wins) and recent success (beating Duke in the 2007 NCAA's, losing by 1 with a shot to win against UCLA in last year's NCAA, Eric Maynor being a first round NBA draft pick, Larry Sanders being slated as a lottery pick etc). I could easily say that how is Akron so good if they lost to Eastern Michigan? Every team has bad games. You could say that Akron had a bad game, but it becomes more than coincidence when you lose repeatedly to the same team year after year. At some point you just have to give props to the better team. I like the Zips program a lot and Dambrot is a solid coach who cares about his players, but Akron is still not at the level of VCU as a program. I think they will get there, but it's not the case right now.I dont see VCU being that impressive from any of the 3 times i've seen them now. ALL three times it was a case of being outcoached and outhustled, sure i'll respect that but i wont say that VCU was a better team a few years ago. Maybe this year and last year but not by much, Akron should have played them better if not beat them yesterday and i expected both.I think that's a fair statement. VCU probably wasn't all that impressive. Only thing is, they were more impressive than Akron and that's all that counts. 3 games, 3 wins, the last one in a blowout. VCU returns everybody of consequence next year. I know Dambrot is desperately trying to get the return game postponed to 2011-2012 when our whole starting line basically graduates. In the event that this happens, you should have a good shot knocking off a young, rebuilding team at home. We'll see. You guys are 0-3 now and have said the same thing before and after every game.Next year? Psh...like i said, i'm not all that impressed. Hopefully Dambrot figures it out and then next year will be a non issue. Actually i expect him to, and i'll be very surprised if we dont win at home. Some mediocre mid major is not going to beat us another time at home.
  11. I agree....football should not be a part of TitleIX. Now that womens sports have taken a foothold they should just make all sports other than football even scholarships. Really what it comes down to is if there is a female equivalent of the sport. Football does not have one. Nearly every other sport does (i cannot think of any that do not)

  13. Of course they did. They only scored 53 points. Points scored compared to the other team is the most important statistic. Turnovers, steals, blocks and rebounds lead to scoring opportunities, not necessarily points. In big games, you had better be able to score points and put pressure on the other team. Akron put no pressure on VCU to perform all day. That was just plain bad in every way.Bad that the Zips came within 2 rebounds of a team that was supposed to kill them on the boards?Bad that the Zips had fewer turnovers against a pressing defense that was supposed to cause a Zips meltdown?Bad that the Zips had more steals than the team with the "more athletic" players?Bad that the Zips had more blocked shots than the team with the experienced big with the 7-foot-7 wingspan who's projected to be an NBA lottery pick?Bad that the Zips caused the projected NBA lottery pick to foul out?The Zips played like men against men. They lost because they couldn't get the ball through the hoop. It happens to the biggest, baddest, toughest men who play the sport. One thing I do believe is bad are fans who are so focused on pointing fingers at what went wrong that they refuse to acknowledge any good from the team they claim to support.Whatever you are smoking, please send some down to South Carolina. It's OK to say the Zips got their asses kicked today. It happens to everyone and it happened today. Living in a statistical fantasy world does not help.Again, the only stat that matters is point differential. VCU scored more points today than UofA.EXACTLY. Winning is winning, and i took nothing positive from that game today. It was a downright awful loss and there is no excuse to lose like that.
  14. Man it almost seemed like it didnt it? There were a lot of close ones that fell for them and didn't fall for us. Hopefully that's all out of our system, i would really like to beat Buffalo like a drum on Wednesday. Wouldn't that be fun?
  15. GO western carolina!
  16. I dont see much player bashing...maybe coach bashing (and rightfully so). Maybe you perceived someone saying our players for being lazy and playing with no heart as "bashing". It's more like calling them out. Which their coach should be doing!
  17. Amen...this game DID mean something and we got embarrassed on tv. Terrible effort.
  18. absolutely embarrassing.
  19. Btw, did anyone notice that Dambrot sat him for a few minutes after i posted this? He brought him back in and first shot: Buried a 3.I noticed that, that is when they went on their run. McNees back in, run over.McNeese was the run....ya know the 9 points he's scored this half already?
  20. Btw, did anyone notice that Dambrot sat him for a few minutes after i posted this? He brought him back in and first shot: Buried a 3.
  21. wow, i dont think ive ever seen a lazier play than that first turnover (the one before the turnover that resulted in the 3 pointer)
  22. McNeese is starting to heat up.I'll all for him shooting whatever he wants when he's hot. Just hopefully Dambrot wont pull him like he usually does when he gets hot.
  23. Being down only 12 feels like 30...it's kind of embarrassing.
  24. This is a no doubter here in my opinion. 5: Zeke Marshall 4: Jeremiah Wood (where he should have been in the first place if we would have had a "Zeke") 3: Romeo Travis/Jimmy Conyers (it's a toss up, because Wood would is better at the 4 than Romeo but Jimmy is pretty close at the 3.) 2: Cedrick Middleton 1: Nick DialsSorry Zach but the whole "they won the MAC tourney thing" doesn't work for me. There are still guys on that team a few years ago that are better than what we have currently. If C Middleton doesn't miss the free throw, they go to the NCAA tournament as well, with a better chance at winning a first round game. Also you cannot tell me that Nick Dials isn't better than any guard we have on this team right now.
  25. ya every time i uploaded it looked fine and fit perfectly I'm not sure why that looks like thatHey maybe the file got downsized, wanna email it to me? AkronZipsClips@gmail.com.
