Get to high ground, Pacific Zips fans

LMAO. Thanks for remembering me! Would you believe, I almost got on the CBS Evening news Saturday? I was five feet away from their West Coast reporter Ross Palumbo as he delivered his standard drivel notes from Diamond Head Lookout. They edited it out by air time, however. There must have been a couple thousand others there partying and waiting for the wave that never arrived. I should have brought my surfboard. Funny you say that, i was watching a few news channels waiting for the tsunami to hit and i couldn't help but laugh at the difference between the news station's grim forecasts and the party like atmosphere of the Hawaiians sitting in lawn chairs and drinking beers while waiting for it. -
It's not that they cheat for one team as much as they seem to have personal vendettas against certain players.

Hope he's alright. (serious)Though i dont know what we are going to do without those 0.9 points a game he gives us. (sarcastic)

My favourite call when D-rob was fouled shooting 3. The refs call 3 free throws. D-rob shoots the first 2 and then the refs decided to review the play on TV to find out if it was 2 or 3 Aren't you supposed to do that before the first 2 free throws???There were a lot of other examples from what I saw on TV.Refs lost track of how many fouls Akron had in the 2nd half. When we got to 10 they weren't sure if we had 10 or 9. BG player missed the first FT, BG got the rebound and dribbled around for a good 7 or 8 seconds before the refs decided to go over to the scorers table and spend 5 minutes figuring it out.The play where C.McKnight stole the ball at mid-court and drove coast to coast pretty obviously should have been an and one.In the 2nd half, I forget what Akron player got absolutely mugged on the way to the rim, no call. Other end, Nitro gets called for a cheap touch foul.At the end of the game there were some really questionable calls. First was the jump ball with Conyers where he was clearly just getting hacked by two BG players. The whistle for the jumpt came quickly and definitively. On another play Nik came down with the rebound off of a BG miss and the refs called a real quick travel.Again, I'm not one to generally complain about refs. Especially when we win, but yesterday was just embarassing. I really hope we can get some good refs for the Can't game. It would be a damn shame to put that kind of a crew on the floor in primetime on national TV.How can we get a full crew of good refs when there are only 2 good ones in the entire conference?

Did anyone watch the Can't game? After the game (it just ended) the one announcer was crying pretty hard on air....it was great. -

I think Nitro has finally earned his chance to shoot some more.It would be great to have a 6'4" guard that can bring some more offense off the bench.

You can hear the Akron fans really well.

Audio is back. I was listening on BG web radio when the 1350 feed went down. It was down from something like 8-4, nothing but continuous commercials on both 1350 and zips zone. That's really odd, i have Zipszone up and it never went out.

audio has worked the entire time.

Rob Ianello's Initial Time Spent at UA

I would like to have a word with the person who designed that pamphlet they made for the event... What didn't you like about it? Didn't look that bad to me.It looks like a 10 year old made it in Microsoft Paint. Honestly, that is a little embarrassing how bad that is. You think they could have spent 20 minutes and made it look nice. -
Jalepenozippy, it's hard to be wrong when you have facts on your side.

Funny how you're so sure you'll make it to Cleveland....but i wasnt talking about you, i was talking about your average fan. You said 1000 come out for your home game against us and 1000 did not for our home game against you. The reason being, your team is not a big opponent.
-
ROFL I think you've actually convinced yourself Buffalo is outside of the USA... that would explain why we also chanted "Get an atlas" Sure our numbers were low, it was a Wed. night after all, I wasn't all that impressed by the HOME students. Your core is pretty loud but overall I thought it was a weak showing for senior night at home. We've sent 3 times that amount on a weeknight. But i understand you guys aren't quite as fanatic. And where was that trip to? Can't State? We had ~1000 students in attendance for your trip to Buffalo this year, I highly doubt you had 1000 there on wed. just sayingBecause no one cares about small time buffalo coming to town. When we come to town, people come out to watch.BTW, we've sent that much to Buffalo before, Ohio, and Miami in the past.
-
I'm sorry that we weren't able to impress your contingent of bandies and "rowdies" that made up that little section along the baseline. Props on the huge cardboard signs though, and that red “X” that’s been around forever. They almost made us take you seriously.Come on. If anything, you have to admit that since you knew we were coming, you probably tried harder to get that turnout and make the noise.Nah...you guys are probably the 5th best team in the conference so I dont think many people were drawn to the JAR for last night. By the way, in terms of taking you guys seriously, most people still dont.

not to sound like a jerk but if he want's to be a profesional sideline reporter he should go ahead and get used to it. there isn't an on air sports reporter on the face of this earth that doesn't have a little hate groupI know but the freaking kid was getting harassed on facebook and stuff...people will cross the line. I still have no idea why they put him on the air if he didn't know what he was doing.don't get me wrong I don't think the kid's life should be destroyed or that he should be constantly harrassed where ever he goes. I alos agree that they shouldn't have put him on the air if he wasn't ready.Yeah that's why the comments were disabled. They were getting a little out of hand, and probably weren't even Akron people. According to the video's stats, the most views have come from Texas, California, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio (in that order) so considering this video has become so big it's really drawn the major internet a-holes out. I dont think it would have mattered if the name would have been blocked out, all it takes is one person to find out his name and post it on a comment there or on a website. Some blogs have even mentioned that he is a freshman in college and where he went to highschool (obviously by finding his facebook). That could have happened eventually anyways. Noone really should feel too bad considering he knew what he was getting into by going on TV. Also, look at the "boom goes the dynamite" guy. He landed a job for a year because of his "fame". Maybe it will turn out the same way for Jon.

+1I've never seen a problem with Buffalo fans, except .....Never mess with the national anthem.Never. No way. No how. No matter how cool you may think it might sound to amplify "home of the brave(s)", most patriotic citizens will rightfully consider it disrespectful of the true meaning and purpose of our national anthem, and think less of the University at Buffalo and its students. The Rowdies amplify "...and the hooooome of the Zips" all the time. Why no complaints until Buffalo did it?The Rowdies only do it when the band or a recording is playing. Never when there is a choir or singer, out of respect to their performance. What is the difference? The National Anthem is The National Anthem. Be it sung by the the little kid sitting next to you, played from a recording, or sung by a choir. To call out the Bulls fans as "not very classy" is hypocritical.COMPLETELY different. Apparently you dont understand, it is classless to show up the singer who is singing the words. When the tune is being played it is in no way the same thing as no lyrics are being sung. Personally i think it shouldnt be done either way, but it is VERY different. If you want to get into disrespect for our country we should discuss the garbage that UA brings in to sing the national anthem half the time (last night was great btw, definitely better than most anything). I find it far more disrespectful to put awful sounding little kids out there to butcher our song or to put some ridiculous singer who thinks its ok to change how it's supposed to be sung (like Kents singer this year).

I SOOO beg to differ. Any sport in the winter is easy to sneak things into.

Yeah...it's SOCCERit's a WINNER. I never had any interest in soccer until I came to Akron where I had a national title contender wearing my school colorsSo you're admitting to being a front runner? The basketball team is a winner too, in a sport that matters tenfold more. Soccer is great and all, and i definitely respect it and enjoy it. But im not in the majority and i know that, basketball is far more entertaining and should draw more fans. Maybe it's your front running attitude that too many people have and is why most students are too busy watching the Cavaliers this time of year rather than watching the Cavaliers AND the Zips.
-
Oh, I see.tOSU wannabes. Front runners. Only root for a sure thing. Too bad those Howdies missed a wellplayed Zips basketball game. Let's see if the Howdies have enough nads to show for the Kant Sucksbeatdown.Oh im sure most of them will. That's what the "Twice a years" do. They show up for games where it's socially important.

Yeah...it's SOCCER
