I went to all three. By far my favorite was the soccer weekend.I'm biased though.Like you, meatwad, I was fortunate enough to go to all 3. All were great in their own way, but soccer weekend was tops given that was for a national championship.All 3 were great, but i personally LOVED going to the NCAA tournament in Basketball. There is NOTHING like it in sports.

According to MAC-Sports site, the record holder for blocked shots in the MAC all-time is Same Pellom(1974-1978) from Buffalo with 375 blocked shots...WOW...that's pretty impressive.

I would say that "Zips Soccer Guy" describes about .01% of the Akron Alumni/Student population. MOST Akron Soccer fans are first and foremost Akron basketball/football fans and that's why this argument is pointless.I hate this discussion because I hate people speaking on behalf of me. Of the people that are true Akron fans (follow the team and go to the events) the percentage of soccer followers is much higher than your .01% just for the fact that the majority of Akron Alumni/Student population aren't fans of Akron's sports teams. I like soccer and basketball and football. The greatest success a team can achieve is a national championship. Has men's bball even come close to the attendance of men's soccer this year? If they were able to add more seats, you know those NCAA playoff games would have had even bigger crowds.Do you ever actually read the entire posts of people? How did i in any way say that only .01% of Zips fans like soccer? I was saying that .01% of Zips fans ONLY like soccer and are "Zips Soccer Guy" as mentioned before.BTW, by seasons end BBALL will have crushed Soccers attendance. It's a stupid comparison anyways....two different sports, indoors/outdoors...no comparison.

That is the most true thing ever stated on Zipsnation. When i think about a team i'm proud of i think of the Soccer team from last season. If the mens bball team had HALF the heart and put out HALF the effort that those guys put out last season we would have beaten Can't easily on Saturday.I may put Soccer in 3rd place in terms of importance, but those players are the best role models this university has...I know 100% of you agree as well.1) I think our basketball team plays with plenty of heart and effort.2) The soccer team has more success than the basketball team because they also have more talent than most of the teams they face. Our basketball team doesn't have the same advantage going into many of their contests.If you think they play with "plenty of heart and effort" you must not be watching the same game. On saturday as well as the previous sunday i saw Brett McKnight walking back on defense/on fast breaks, i saw Humpty doing the same as well as attempting to be the whole team on offense with wide open teammates all around him, i saw Darryl Roberts doing much of the same. There were others you could see doing it as well but not as much as those 3. You watch those last 3 games and you only see 3 people playing with any heart: Steve McNees, Zeke Marshall, Jimmy Conyers....Chris McKnight was mostly there the last three games but it doesn't last the entire game.

They shouldn't have to "grow", as you mentioned they already did last season! They dont have their heads in the game...it's very apparent.

Are you all out of your minds? Are you that upset about the loss to Can't Statecks this weekend that you've lost all hope or care for basketball? You honestly can say you'd rather win a National title in SOCCER over an upset (not like we'd get anything higher than a 11 seed ever) win in the first round of the NCAA tournament?! I'll put them in this order:1) Win a game in the NCAA tournament2) Win a Bowl game in football 3) National Championship in Womens Basketball4) National Championship in Mens Soccer5) Go to a Bowl game (close behind #4)BTW, dont get me wrong i definitely loved the ride this past year in soccer. I also have been to every home game but two in the last 3 seasons, but soccer is NOT basketball or football....period.

I wholeheartedly agree with every part of this statement. But I'll wager everything I have that the outcome on March 5th is entirely different; as well as the mac tourney. I just have that deep down gut feeling that Akron Basketball is gonna finish everything the right way this year. I agree. And on March 5th, let's hope the AK rowdies use some originality and wit and not something on the order of Can't State SUCKS or regurgitate, "why so quiet?" We're counting on you AK rowdies. We had 30+ tickets in the middle of their reserved seats and kicked about 15 people out of their seats who were sitting in them when we all went down a few minutes into the game. You should have seen the faces of the usher and cop who tried to stop us and realized we had every right to be there.

Good to see me and the people around me weren't the only ones who noticed how moronic Dambrot's lineups were tonight.Zeke, according to the official stats (which are wrong, he had more blocks than they recorded, i just watched the game on tv again and counted them) had 6 rebounds, 4 points, and 3 (5) blocks. The guy was changing the game completely in the Zips favor with his play and essentially he doesn't play in the second half! You got Humpty ball hogging after Can't starts a run and attempting to play 5 on 1 for two straight possessions and he stays in. Also Brett McKnight has to be the laziest player on the team. Multiple times he just camps on the 3 point line and doesn't crash the offensive boards and multiple times his man beat him down the floor because he wasn't hustling. Why does Dambrot play someone who acts like he just doesn't give a damn?You could go on and on, but flat out today Can't played like they wanted it more. Also, i brought 2 first timers today to their first Zips game and they were shocked at how bad/inconsistent the reffing was. I just laughed because it's gotten to be so bad that today I barely noticed.

nope, we lost the game because we missed around 50% of our free throws again. not gonna win many games, let alone games on the road with all the misses we had. i didnt check the box score, but from what frenchie was saying, our made baskets were about even with UBI'm starting to get sick of the free throw misses. It's not just a few guys either, it's nearly everyone on the team missing. I've never seen anything like it...oh wait nevermind i've seen it from the Zips every year since Dambrot has been coach. Do they not practice them?!

Think that $2 could make a dent in the price of a crappy T-shirt? I see guys selling crappy T's outside of concerts for $5.00 all the time. I also saw where Proenza justified it by quantifying the millions of dollars the University received in exposure during March madness. Obviously the money is available for such a simple promotion. And if the University is really committed to looking good on ESPN...they're collectively insane for banking on Joe Akron to bring his wife-beater to the game.But I can't expect to explain that to a group of people who think selling Zips basketball jerseys in the JAR team shop is a bad thing.I think someone needs to print this out and then hand deliver one copy to every single person who works in Athletics.

Don't they usually hand out free shirts at the game for this type of promo? If not, I don't see Joe Akron showing up in a white T. It won't work.I dont either...especially since the Rowdies wear blue this year. What is this from? Surely our Athletic Department didnt put this out.

I was in the union today in the B&N "team shop" and they had a clearance rack. On it i found a great deal on a cheaply made akron long sleeve shirt that said "go zips", it could have been mine for an amazing deal of 29 dollars. Now imagine the prices on the non "clearance" stuff.

haha they can have their 2nd place banner...we were the MAC champs that counted for anything.

Amazingly he hasn't said anything stupid in a while.

You'd think we would be used to it by now. We get outcoached alot lately too.

Not even a mention that we lost the National Title game, that says alot about who really was #1.
