As the official ZNO Bowden Cheerleader, whom is becoming disenchanted, the time to fire Bowden in in about 3 years after this season when his contract runs out. This is because we're not in a financial situtation to be paying-out a coach's contract. It's also not like Akron football led by Bowden is going to be what kills Akron football...anymore than what 7 years of mediocrity did before he was here. Bowden needs to make a shake-up on his offensive staff (Milwee). And perhaps take over the offense again himself. 2012 he was the offensive cordinator and head coach right? He needs to stop being so conservative. For the MAC, the first 4 games amount to a pay game, and 3 "pre-season games". The only games that matter are the MAC, and we've got a lot of lousy teams on the schedule this year. That will be the measure of Bowden and his 2015 team. Savannah State will also be a good game to watch, so let's please not jump off the cliff just yet. Let me be the first one as the official Bowden AND Chapman cheerleaders.

And when it comes we will see just how much our alumni "give a damn" about our university. If this forum is any picture, it looks like a lot are willing to role over and let anything happen to THE University of Akron.

I brought two friends who had to get tickets at the gate...they got them for free about 35 min before kickoff. Explain that one someone.

Agreed. I'm really dissappointed in this staff. As much as I have defended Bowden, I'm getting to the point I can't. The last three seasons he has been overly conservative. Now this is largely because he doesn't have the QB like he had in Dalton Williams or Marquelo Suel, but he needs to get back to that gun slinging offense. This option read offense is terrible, and I in the stands can tell what play their running before they snap the ball.

Jerome Lane has got to make those catches.

Coach doesn't want to win this game. I'm the biggest chearleader of Bowden, but this is becoming unacceptable. We've got to start playing like we want to win games.

That's our answer then isn't it? 8,000 tickets (roughly) were "distributed" to Alumni. Right?

28-17 Akron Announced Attendance: 23,500 Kyle Pohl Starts, Tra'von Chapman will sub in occassionally throughout the game. Chapman will run the ball better than last game. 2 Running TDs 2 Passing TDs.

I love how everyone is being really negative about giving tickets away to the recent alums. At least they're trying SOMETHING to engage recent grads and alumni other than sitting on their hands and tweeting #TeamOhio. Two things they absolutely need to address: Don't have the ZipFest bands playing over our own Band on the field, while they're playing the national anthem and alma mater...and stop the embarrassing "I can't hear you..." after every can cheer/chant. We already get it that there's not a packed stadium there, don't continue making the atmosphere embarrassing.

They should just give the Recent grads a parking pass too. I mean, outreach your gosh darn alumni like never before and remind them of the incredible value of getting an alumni season ticket. For those who don't know...and are alumni...it's like $170 for 1 ticket to all sporting events held on campus. I'm pretty sure you can get multiple tickets too (even for non-alumni) as long as they're season tickets. I have purchased single game tickets for discounted prices to bring friends and family to a game becuase I had the alumni package as well, just call your ticket rep. Now the discounted priced tickets were for football...which they were probably desperate to sell and might have made up the "discount" on the phone...but still!

I was about to say the exact same thing. I'm brining a couple of my alumni friends whom have't been to a game since we went to the 2010 Syracuse game together. They've mentioned that if all of my hype for the 2015 Zips is correct, and the Zips look decent they'll come with me to another game. With all the new students coming to this game, we ABSOLUTELY MUST WIN THIS GAME!

I agree. This is probably the best observation of that game. We're in serious trouble at QB. We know what Pohl is. Chapman looked terrible, except on one (maybe two) of the QB runs. We gotta get some production from the passing game quickly or this season is gonna be ugly.

Akron will beat Pitt. As terrible as our offense is, it'll look different next week as Bowden makes a committment to Pohl for most of the game.

Tough week for MACtion. MAC Teams go 5-6, the only team not playing was UMass, one game (Toledo) was cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Most games lost were $$$ games, while most games won were against FCS opponents. Ohio and NIU pulled off the wins of the week IMO. Ohio demolished the Vandals, but they're a pretty terrible team...and NIU pulled off a win against UNLV.

Now we're just getting embarrassed. Defense is gassed. Goodnight everybuddy see you next week!

Alright. Second half, we need the ball to be in the hands of Kyle Pohl and Connor Hundley. Stop playing musical chairs with both of those positions.

Pohl has done enough to prove he needs to be the guy the rest of the game.
