  1. Weren't those same comments made about the Can't game a couple of years ago?
  2. Yeah...but basically ALL of the big schools didn't just cut $60 million worth of staff and programs. The criticism is warranted. And if UA doesn't want the criticism, it needs to get ahead of the criticism by being open and transparent...not hinding behind the BS wall of "proprietary secrets".
  3. Perhaps, no offense intended.
  4. You know, there's been a solid group of Alumni, current students, Faculty and staff whom have been saying this all along...asking for our pathetic alumni base to stand in opposition to Scarborough. I believe you've mocked them (us) a couple of times. The name change/rebranding was enough of a reason for me to oppose him. The way he's treated us Alumni and current students as if we're children who should be ignored, was the final straw.
  5. I live in Akron, in the future if you want a copy of anything, just PM me and I'd be willing to mail some to you But thanks for posting, I actually did print it off...Just because I like everything Zips!
  6. Just export it as a PDF, and upload it. But why do we need a refridgerator schedule? I already have three from my season tickets...
  7. I hope it's as quiet in Norman as it was in Ann Arbor...And I agree, the worse defeat by a power 5 team was Tennessee, and that was by far the worst Terry Bowden team that we've had, in a year where we went 1-11...and we still went toe-to-toe with them up to the last 8 min of the 4th quarter. We're not getting blown out, that's a lock.
  8. It's not much of a surprise. I read what they had to say over there because they quoted me as a crazy nut. I'll take it though, because it'll be fun reading the comments as the Sooners struggle against a very talented Chuck Amato defense. I remember the Michigan fans being equally arrogant, coming off an 8-5 season that finsihed much like the Sooners' did last year. They will have Baker Mayfield starting at QB, who had pretty impressive stats in 2013 but sat out 2014 because of tranfering from Texas Tech to Oklahoma. I could be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that a transfer QB, who sat out last year, in the first game of the season, is going to light our defense on fire. Statistically they win this game...but I full heartededly believe it won't be an easy cakewalk. If Pohl doesn't turn the ball over in the redzone like he's prone to doing...we will make it a game. Bet on that.
  9. I actually think this is an important, separate idea, that needs to be discussed and I'm okay with a separate post for it. If this were posted in one of the other threads have been talked to death I might have (along with other members here) glossed over it or missed in entirely. Freeing up $40 million a year to conflate your own policies is worse than I thought personally. Because those are not cuts out of necessity. That lends a lot of credibility to those who have been opposing Scarbororough for his lack of getting to know UA for what it is.
  10. The problem with fireworks is that they don't look that cool at 3 in the afternoon after a 3 hour game... And my point about advertising is that if it's apparently inexpensive to do it in a big way, where tens-of-thousands of people are getting exposed to it on a daily basis, why haven't we been doing it. There are people both on this board and at the U that have made the contention that college athletics is about exposure for the university. Advertising for weeks in advance on the No. 1 leader in sports' local branch seems like a pretty good way to get that exposure.
  11. Which begs the question why we haven't been doing this for years...
  12. Wouldn't we at least seek Chapman in garbage time?
  13. It's also the first place you see as a prospective student and new student, because you're directed to Simmons Hall initially. You'd leave Simmons Hall, and walk straight up the entrance to campus, which makes it practical and useful. An Entrance off of exchange street (there already is six entry ways off of exchange street...they may not be pretty, but they're there) isn't practical or useful. Students/People park at the garages and then walk to buildings from there...the only people walking through this entrance is...students...living in the buildings off campus. A grand entrance would look mighty fine from the office of the university president, instead of some stupid baseball field.
  14. They've been advertising this game like crazy on ESPN Cleveland, WKNR. UA is sponsoring the "Countdown to Kickoff" for the Cleveland Browns' home opener which is the day after our home opener. I listen to WKNR on the way home and I've heard about 3-4 live reads, and I've also a commercial advertising it through other programs as well. Aaron Goldhammer has been hamming it up. I imagine this type of advertising is expensive, but it's much better than what they've been doing the last couple of years. I wonder if it'll have any impact. Props to this kind of exposure.
  15. More BS unnecessary showboating. The University already has a nice entryway off of buchtel near Simmons Hal.
  16. Right. We should just put a giant Ohio State logo in the middle of the field.
  17. I don't think it's any surprise that I too am a huge critic of Pohl, nd that I'm a huge advocate of Chapman cause I think the guy has promising talents at QB. But if what you say is true, with the growth, than I'm more than happy to have him leading the team. I want the Zips to win...no matter who's QB. I've seen enough of Pohl to be concerned, but hopefully he's made the improvements...and hopefully he won't make those ill-timed-kyle-pohl-crucial-red-zone-interceptions anymore.
  18. What ZippyRulz suggests is a wonderful thing. The only thing I'd add is that the U should eat the cost to advertise/find a new tenant. Everybuddy wins, nobuddy loses (except technically the U for making an awful poorly planned decision). Businesses don't have to be mindless non-human entities. Frankly, the lease should have had a clause for extenuating circumstances.
  19. I thoughts he graduated. Sorry.
  20. The Zips should outrun Pitt this year after this. If not, we're in trouble. It's unfortunate when players get hurt, hopefully all of our guys can stay healthy too.
  21. Not necessarily. Subway I believe has a separate contract that gave it a lease on the spot for x amount of years. I'd imagine a lot of these additions would some how be added into a food court style either where Ohio Burger was/where the market used to be?
  22. This I completely agree with. It's a decent thing for a landlord to let you out of a lease (granted another tenant can be found), but the real decent thing is for the U to pay for the leases. What would be an even BIGGER act of solidarity, and an act of a REAL leader, would be for the president of that U to pay for it out of his own pocket as a sign of good will/no hard feelings for making the "adult" decision. I hope Skip you didn't take my comments as too much of an attack . I absolute hate when the little guy/regular guy, gets screwed by the wealthy and powerful. In this hypothetical the player gets screwed or the landlord (presuming a tenant cannot be found) gets screwed.
  23. I disagree with both of you. It's called being an empathetic human being. Yes contracts exist for a reason...but so do our brains. This is an exstenuating circumstance, and you should at the very least allow the kid to walk away with no more burden after a new tenant is found...meaning you'd have to find a new tenant. My landlord has a clause in my lease that allows for that...infact that's how I got my place in the first place is because the other tenant had a sudden drop transfer and had three months left on the lease. If a landlord isn't willing to do that, or doesn't have a clause like that already built into the lease, than it is kinda scummy. But there are two important details we need to stay focused on: 1) What Scarborough and the University did was absolutely unacceptable (the way they went about it in an non-transparent manner) and 2) this is a story from the ABJ which seems to be part of a long-standing attack. We are only getting a small light into the issue, and it's entirely possible that clauses that let these students out of the leases do exist, but they weren't asked about it...or the players approached the ABJ with the story and ABJ didn't do their due dilligence.
